I can remember spending time under a combine and other machinery in the mid seventies. I learnt early on to put a tarp down as I was renown for dropping bits onto the ground. Much fun was made of me hunting for the little bits on the ground. I was nicknamed the "Pheasant" because I was always head down, arse up pecking away on the ground. Love the videos, keep them coming. My only farming experience now is through watching these. Bring back so many memories to this old bugger Thanks and all the best to you and your family in the future

You won’t forget your first harvest. Congratulations !! It made my think back 35 years ago and my first 17 acres that was all mine. It wouldn’t have happened without my Uncle Norm’s support. I was so nervous because I spent more money then I planned on for fertilizer but I was committed at that point 😊. It turned out to be a good harvest and I turned a small profit 😊. I enjoy your videos because you show how it actually is and don’t edit out the breakdowns and other problems. Keep up the good work !!

Thanks for farming and keeping the farm life going which feeds the world. I grew up in a farming life and went in the Navy at 17, never to return to my community. But I know the struggles and rewards and I thank you for feeding the world. I guess I do my little part with my little beekeeping business, but always glad to see generations keep the world fed.

You never went back home ??
@MikeBarryBees4 күн бұрын
@ well, I meant never moved back there. Did 23 years in the Navy and only was stationed nearby for about 4 years, and most of that was deployments. I married into a Louisiana family. I keep my bees here and work full time. I have a little KZbin channel as well, and while I love watching beekeeping, I love watching farming all different farming channels, from the newest technology out there, to the folks doing it with the equipment I grew up around. When I retire, I hope to visit beekeepers around the US and do videos, and I’ll have to visit farming channels like yours one day as well. All future stuff of course, but one can dream😁😁

@@MikeBarryBeesBees are very important to farmers, big and small!! I'm a little farmer at only 80 acres. Got a friend on our fire department, since he set some hives around my farm I've noticed my apple orchard has increased yields. Any way thanks to the guys that set those hives up!! And thank you for your service, my grand father was WW2 NAVY Gone but not forgotten!!!Love you grandpa!!

Thanks for sharing the video Aaron. Nice looking corn. You have a nice looking Magnum. Those 1460's are a great combine. Hard to beat them. That's the trouble they don't make anything that size anymore for the smaller farmers.

The International 14xx series combines were and are one of the simplest combines to operate, service and work on. I replaced a shaker shaft right out in the field. They do a great job of harvesting with nice clean samples. Had a 1420 back in the day and wouldn't want any other brand of combine. Nice crop of corn BTW!! I farmed 1,000 acres of corn and soybeans.

I worked for a farmer when I was 10 years old until 17. He had a Massey 33, 88 Oliver and a Cockshutt. The Combine was a 6 head self propelled unit. One thing nice was if we got them stuck which wasn’t very often it was so easy to get them out. I watch these videos of this great big 8 & 12 wheel drive tractors getting stuck and they have to have all the neighbors come to help them get out. Give me the good old days !
