Harvesting Sweet Potatoes and Their Edible Leaves

Did an experiment on growing sweet potatoes and raise the beds and grow bags. In this video I show the results as we show you how to harvest the edible leaves and tubers. From about five store-bought sweet potatoes we ended up with about 45 pounds of return and an abundance of leaves greens. It is worth noting that we could’ve gotten many times more of a harvest out of these five original potatoes, I just ran out of places to keep planting the clippings.

My dad use to always start his own slips by putting a sweet potato partially in water and letting it start to grow. Then he gently removed the sprouts and put them in water till they put on roots. When sufficiently rooted, he planted them in the garden. He usually only planted six or seven plants a year, but they generally did pretty good for him. I mean nothing bad by this, but I think your eyes are about the prettiest I have ever seen. Interesting video, thank you.

Great return on your investment! Several years ago I couldn't get seed potatoes getting close to garden time, I didn't know if it would work but I bought a 5lb bag each of red potatoes and Yukon Gold. Put them in a cool dark area of the cellar and when they began to sprout, cut and planted them. Ended up with over 80lbs from the 10lbs that I bought. I'm still going to have to give those greens a try, they look delicious! Thank you for another informative video!

I kn this video is on potatoes, but I found yr video on mixing feed for chickens , and I’m curious I heard it’s not good to feed chickens whole corn 🌽 but saw you mix whole corn in , so is it best to give crushed corn , gets so confusing when you hear the do’s and don’ts on KZbin 🤷‍♀️
