Wow!! I have never seen sweet potatoes that size before. You must be having amazing soil in your garden 👏👏 The Persimmon pudding is interesting, I had never considered cooking with them. This past summer, in my 56th year of life, was the first time I ever grew food. My husband and I planted Spuds and cherry tomatoes. Oh my what a joy!!! How happy it made me to go and look at their progress each day. How sweet and beautiful those potatoes were! 😢I thought I loved my flowers but those vegetables were just so incredible. I can't wait till next spring, I'll have Spuds, tomatoes, turnips, carrots and maybe try a grape vine. We live in Nova Scotia Canada, our growing season is kind of short. I just love it, it's wonderful to grow food. How inspiring your garden is! ❤❤❤

If I may suggest, to keep sweet potatoes, or any root vegetables for that matter, store them in sand, in a dark and cool place. As you said, the rain season is upon us, so if possible, store them in a dry spot. They will last like that throughout the winter.

I wondered if you ever ate red meat? Yes, when Dan's away! 😅 Steak & Chips looked yummy! 😋 I have never seen such huge sweet potatoes! 😮 And Persimmons are surprisingly cheap in the supermarkets here in London compared to other exotic fruits. I remember when they first became known as Sharon fruit from Israel in the late 70s. I was working in a greengrocers at the time and we didn't know how to eat them or wait till they were ripe, and bit into a hard one thinking they were like apples, I can still feel the dryness in my mouth now! 😂🍑

they are very frost sensitive, and in some parts of Portugal frost can be a problem, also they dislike wet and cold over winter. Maybe overwinter them in pots in a balcony.

Damaged sweet potatoes I bake with oil brushed on them, then freeze for later. Must be my Scottish ancestry. You won't believe the price of olive oil this year $20 per half liter. (Canadian dollars) I could have grown celery this year but I was expecting hotter weather and was fooled. Oh well. My onions wouldn't grow well, too little sun, too much rain and wind. I wish I could have your growing season. Lovely harvests.

Dan was chatting on the phone last night and he said he ate tempura sweet potatoes with a sweet chilli sauce for his starter. I’m going to give that a go with the white fleshed ones tonight. The recipe is just a loose idea of what Dan did. Sweet potatoes, garlic, chilli, lime juice and peanut butter, salt pepper and enough cream to look like he showed. Cook with the lid on for 25 mins then lid off for 20 minutes more. 180C / 350F
