Nice one, George. If this is the "Blue Java" from Daley's, I suspect it's a mislabelled variety. Probably an "Ice Cream" banana. My "Blue Java" from Daley's is definitely the fastest growing banana tree here in Sydney. The flower has just started coming out and I'm expecting a huge bunch (hopefully similar this size 🙂). Will upload video later this week.

Sure. A rack should be ready around August-September.

I have a Blue Java, im at the beginning of the Mornington Peninsula. My banana fruit is much smaller than that. What do you feed yours please?

I feed my bananas stacks of mulch, compost and potassium.

Do you cover flowering banana during winter? My banana tree is tall around 3-4m and have a bunch with many bananas at the size of fat fingers . Do you think I leave it open or cover in bag during this winter? To avoid flowering stage and young fruit setting in winter what should we do in the future? Thanks George.

I'm not sure where you are, but I don't cover mine at all, and they ripen fine in winter and early spring.

So yours ever get a blue colour?Mine don’t seem to, also from Daley’s.

Depending on lighting, the skin can appear to have a faint blue hue.

What a nice harvest! That rack looks so heavy! 😅 Fortunately, you didn’t get injured! It’s true that it can be dangerous for someone beginning! I have a question! On the heavy storm you had (when the Inga felled), I remember that you had a banada tree that the main trunk was cut somehow. And a new shoot was growing from there. What happened with that? Did it continue growing?

We ate that premature bunch as green fried bananas 🍌 😋

Lol they'll be getting harder to harvest as they grow bigger , fortunately i think in your climate they have about peaked in growth 😁
@RealLifeFruitopia6 ай бұрын
And I'll be getting older, so hopefully, I'll be using smarter ways to harvest in the years to come.

The blue Java bananas that we have in hawaii, at least on this island are only about 8 ft tall.. and every single one of them will fall over when they are fruiting, it's a royal pain in the butt!

That is definitely not a Blue Java... Blue Java has a really grey blue skin fruit as it grows on the plant and then ripens into yellow skin bananas. I am growing Dwarf Ducasse in SW Victoria. Healthy and 5 years on and probably will flower this summer. Hope they fatten and ripen. That's the tricky bit !

Good luck! My Dwarf Ducasse are fruiting their first bunch!
