Harvesting Yarrow to make infused oil for first aid salve

I place the flowers and leaves of the yarrow plant in a Mason jar, cover it with olive oil, put the lid on and leave in the sun for 4 weeks, shaking once a day, then strain through a cloth when ready to make salve.

Shouldn't you be drying that out first any water/moisture from the plant will make the oil go rancid very quickly

I've always used fresh yarrow, cover with olive oil and leave the jar in the sun for a few weeks and then strain it to use for salve. I haven't had it spoil yet, and I've made it this way for the past several years. That's a good idea to dry the herbs first just in case!
