Correction for 8:17 That's actually a quirk that also occurs in the PS1 and Saturn versions, I've always interpreted it as Lara entering the Pyramid as soon as Natla activated it with the Scion, so it's not really a bug related to the remaster, it's something that's always been there since the original console releases.

@zeniktorres43208 ай бұрын
This is my first time tank controls, and I find the modern controls more cumbersome. It maybe a modern control scheme but it doesn't function as one in this game. I just spent a little getting used the tank controls, changed dead zone to 0, sensitivity to 1, and I can use the stick easily for navigation and the camera has no issues in this game. I was looking forward to the modern controls as they said it was based off Legend, but I was very disappointed (I hope a patch comes down for this and the other issues). What I'm saying is that one doesn't need to have ever used tank controls to use them easily, its not hard, but its not instant gratification. All it needs is 20 min practising with it, which I understand that people are unwilling to do these days. But really enjoying the game with tank controls. However, if they fix the modern controls I would switch over.
@seeibe8 ай бұрын
Yeah, my issue isn't with tank controls at all, it's just how clunky they are. If they had an option where we still get tank controls, but Lara doesn't constantly stop like her engine shut down because you're trying to switch direction while running, I'd much appreciate it.
@Nightopian19828 ай бұрын
@@seeibeit's more realistic that way. Being able to run in circles on the spot looks a bit stupid IMO. Players need to get used to rolling rather than turning around with tank controls. I'm used to modern controls on the later TR games, but they're far better suited to them than here. It's not simply a matter of persistence, the levels and character are designed with tank controls in mind.

Before you do Tomb Raider 2, sorry for pestering you about it again but I’d love to see an in-depth video of TRAE (core’s superior full remake compared to TRA) from the playable alpha build on both platforms it was on, to the design doc, screenshots of areas not in the alpha like the new Sanctuary Sphinx & its brand new flip map, to concept art, meshes not in the game & animation tests.

The Modern Controls are easy to use, the problem every classic fan is having is that they are still playing it as if they’re still using the Tank Controls, if you take full advantage of the freedom of movement the Modern Controls give you you’ll find that you don’t have to line up your jumps anywhere near as much as you think.
@Muhahahahaz8 ай бұрын
The problem is there’s no tutorial for the modern controls, and they made various arbitrary changes for seemingly no reason. (The control settings UI for both sets are labeled exactly the same way, yet the buttons literally don’t even mean the same thing, so it’s extremely misleading) I really wanted to try the modern controls, but as soon as Lara told me to press action to vault up on the crates in her house and it didn’t work, I immediately turned them off If they ever bother to turn their new controls into a finished product, I might actually try them again, but for now I see no reason to use them lol
@Andrew-Bastin8 ай бұрын
@@Muhahahahaz not really a problem with the controls, just a refusal to get used to them or ever properly trying them. The modern controls grant much more fluid movement and while they lack the same precision as the tank controls the greater mobility pretty much removes the need for said precision. Hey man, you got a couple things wrong in this video. You can actually do every single movement or action in both the tank or modern controls. All you have to do is hold L2 on Playstation, it's the button you push to draw your weapon. Once you hold that button, you can just jump and use the directional buttons to do backflips, sideflips etc. This doesn't work in Lara's home tho because you can't draw your weapon in there, but in-game, it works perfectly fine. I finished the first game using only modern controls without any problems, managed to get all the secrets, all the jumps worked fine, I didn't feel any disadvantage by using the modern controls. Hop backwards for setting up jumps is available on modern controls, you just have to equip weapons first - which is not available on the tutorial, making it impossible there, but it is perfectly do-able in the game so long as you have weapons to equip. I still wouldn't recommend modern controls, but every tank control input is possible with modern. It's just not all possible on the tutorial and is not explained. The main problem with modern controls is that Lara's forward direction is dependent on the camera being lined up behind her, while tank controls it's not. This makes certain sections nearly impossible to make some jumps on modern controls since the camera does what it wants like in corners and backed up against walls.

I accept new gamers will struggle, but I don't enjoy the prospect of them patching it to make it even easier by introducing checkpoints. It's easy enough for classic players when you've got manual saving anytime, but I do hope a feature like autosaving is optional. Save crystals will be a welcome option for old school TR lovers. Manual saving and autosaving in a game not designed for that is bad. But these games still have unfair cheap moments due to bad design. However, to patch bad level design moments would be changing the game itself. On anniversary graphics, there is a key that barely even shows up on screen, yet its perfectly and obviously on screen if you switch back to original graphics. Its problems like that which can be patched. Things like needing a player to shoot a window when all the other windows are not breakable, but suddenly they are, that is bad, inconsistent game design. My wishes haven't. My biggest wish is "Run the Gauntlet" a Peru E3 level promo to be thee secret level. However my other wishes is if not possible To have Lara change outfits and skins Facing Bigfoot because of that magazine at thd very beginning of TRI

In case you didn't know, it was remastered for Android.

the controls and lighting are really bad on this "remaster" im also finding the camera angles are flipping around all over the place

I tried to play this game, paid €30. The controles are a disaster, I did change them, still crap! Word of warning crap controles!

I had to put in quite the time and effort to learn them. It takes a lot of patience, but it's very satisfying once mastered.

Don't mean to trigger anyone, but it's hilarious that some people still feel the need to revert to the 90s style graphics mode even after the company has remastered the series with upgraded graphics XD

Don’t understand the dislike towards anniversary and underworld, I thought they were amazing games.

Gatekeepers with nostalgia obsession

They are amazing games. I even love the reboot trilogy. There's just something special about the original trilogy.

I kind of enjoy knowing that younger people can't handle these games and us older ones can.
@ling89567 ай бұрын
People play Dark Souls and Elden Ring because they are "fun." From my perspective you just have nostalgia glasses. Most of these old games are just bad unless you are a dinosaur. Stuck in the past. Though, Nintendo games are timeless. Always good.
@ling89567 ай бұрын
Even if the game was good. The controls are an instant turnoff. I know plenty of you brag about AOL dialup and how today's internet is too fast. So I understand how you feel. Disk drives were so awesome to you. And you are probably using Windows 1989 right now
@SupplementalSense7 ай бұрын
@@ling8956 Sounds like it bothers you that you can't enjoy this game. It really doesn't matter if nostalgia plays a factor. Either it's fun for you or it isn't. It just goes to show that us older ones are more versatile gamers. We learned how to use more than just the joysticks and triggers. Too bad for you I guess.

I pirated it. I'm not going to give these soulless vermin money to shove a disclaimer in my face claiming the game is racist. Do better Crystal Dynamics.
@WebstersYouTube8 ай бұрын
Not cool. That is the flimsiest justification for stealing a game that I've ever heard. Crystal Dynamics don't need to do better, you need to do better.
