In this video, I tear down, test, and review the newest style of Samsung refrigerator. The Samsung Bespoke RF30BB6600QL. Is this simply a new coat on an old problem, or did Samsung actually address any of the major issues the refrigerators have had for years?
The only Samsung Bespoke models I would recommend:
RS23CB760012: bit.ly/3TFm2u9
RF24BB6600QL (counter depth): bit.ly/4ceX4cf
RF30BB6200QL (Auto Fill pitcher, the bev center is fine too): bit.ly/3wTdNBM
RF29BB8600AP (4-Door, Bev Center)bit.ly/3wXcPV2
I would not recommend: Family hub models, 4-door Flex Zones

GOOD ONE! I'm sure everything will go downhill in 1 year, you will need to defrost the evaporator every two weeks, pull the icemaker out, and melt all the ice frozen together, Call weekly to Samsung to have some type of service done until your warranty runs out LOL!!

Last year my Kemore Elite with the LG compressor died. Went shopping and no one had a white french door frig. Went online and Samsung had the Beskoke with white glass panels in 25 cuft. Ordered it online and they threw in a three year warrenty instead of one plus an extra set of glass panels in a color I hate and no choice but with free delivery and fast. It is a love hate relationship. I miss the handles and magnets don’t stick to it. The drawers store a lot of food. $200 worth or groceries fit in the drawers. Yes, I had to have Samsung make a warrenty call. The freezer drawer gasket leaked. The tech came out when I scheduled online. He replaced the gasket and he informed me that the drawer front was warped and needed to be replaced. He returned a week later and replaced it, all free under warrenty. He even answer some of my questions like the secrets about the magic pitcher and what to do when it does not fill up all the way.

Thanks for the info! As a note on the part of the video where I take off the glass panels - there's about a 1/4" gap between the glass and the steel backing. I wonder if you could line that gap with a magnetic metal that would allow something magnetic to adhere then to the glass...
@TexasEngineer
@TexasEngineer 2 ай бұрын
@@bensappliancesandjunk I had never thought of that. The tech showed me how to remove and replace a panel using the suction cup that Samsung supplied with the extra usless panels. I would like to get stainless panels someday when and if I change out the other white appliances and redo the kitchen, but I cannot find Samsung offering them at this time. The tech answered a question I had. Can I use dry erase markers on the glass? He said yes. I have not tried it yet and frankly I am a bit afraid to. Maybe I will try it on my scrap extra panels first. Until then Postit notes will have to work for me. FYI the sides are black magnetic steel to hang some junk on. The frig has a clean look to it without the magnets, but takes time to learn to live without magnets on the front. I am sure Samsung will put the refrigerator magnet industry out of bussiness. The Samsung tech was the greatest, really. I doubt another one exists as good and friendly as he was. I was very lucky.

Great video Ben. This Samsung Bespoke fridge has been redesigned from the ground up. Glad to see that these models are made in Korea (including compressor). The previous generation french door fridges were made in Mexico. As a part time service tech with access to Korean service manuals, I haven't repaired a Bespoke model yet. Samsung learned their mistakes and delivered a quality fridge!

Very, very, very easy to repair like most other Samsungs. I was able to basically get everything apart without having to consult anyone on any part of the unit. Although I didn't tear down the freezer portion, it was just laziness on my part and I mapped it all out before shooting other parts of the video. Very thankful that somehow of all the things Samsung does bad, they can built a fridge that is easily serviced compared to, say, a Whirlpool with that garbage rear evap panel/icemaking system.

I have the 4 door, counter depth, with the beverage center for 4 years now. It's been good so far. Gets used a ton by our full size family with 5 kids. Only issue is with the beverage center pitcher. The auto fill doesn't work all the time. What I found is that the magnetic sensor that relays to the fridge to fill, doesn't line up perfectly anymore. When I place the empty pitcher back into the fridge I have to pull it back very slightly for the magnet and sensor to line up.

If it has a "linear" compressor, you might as well throw it "straight" into the trash as soon as it arrives. In the past 10 years, I've been through 3 refrigerators with failed linear compressors. Each of them failed and were fixed about 2-3 times before throwing in the towel. The compressors tend to have a lifetime of about 1.5 years.

We just got a version of the Bespoke with the flex drawer and no Family Zone (built in tablet). It’s been awesome, and once we install the waterline, we’ll have the ice and beverage center to use. We got an excellent deal at where we got it- there was a mix up with the open box model we purchased, and we got this fridge new for under $1100. Our kitchen is small, but this is worth the space it takes up. We also live right by an authorized repair tech for Samsung (used them for our dryer) so we’re in good shape if we need repairs.

Produce stays very fresh for a very long time and the customizable 4th drawer is great. We use ours for bottled beverages which keeps everything out of the main refrigerator and gives more space. I have the counter depth version of this, fantastic refrigerator coming from an LG and Samsungs, took a leap of faith and I am glad I did. It's completely different from the previous decade's line. This seems to be a rebranded Dacor, the high end brand that Samsung acquired. A few additional notes: It has both lower and upper grab slots to open the door with a clean look and no handles taking up depth space. I prefer the upper slots as a taller guy and you get used to not using/ needing handles. Color on the panels is only in front... the sides are not color-matched which might be an issue if yours sticks out because you'll see a different color. Panels can be dry erasable but it can definitely stain. Works with Smart things for stuff like door open notifications. I've had the pitcher since the previous version and it's been a game changer and I can't go back. Fill quick, but sometime has issues auto-filling if the overflow pan is full, but simple process to clear. Finally, be sure to check swing angles, it's not just about the opening width.

Hey Ben, awesome review of the Samsung Bespoke model fridge. I bought the previous model with the tablet in the door & the terrible ice maker. Never had any issues with the tablet but because I purchased the extended warranty, Lowes came to the rescue after years & constant problems with the ice maker,deemed it irreparable and returned the purchased price, which spoke wonders to me about Lowe’s, & the extended warranty. I would never purchase any high cost appliance without the extended warranty, especially with the Samsung moniker on it! The Bespoke model may save the day for Samsung refrigerators & consumer wariness!

I didn't get the Bespoke because it was a little bit taller and wouldn't fit (additionally, the panel color I would have chosen was on back order. I was replacing a fridge that died, and couldn't wait 4 months.) However, I got the 4-door Flex that is essentially the same. Due to mobility issues, I simply can't utilize a big drawer freezer -- I can't reach to get to everything. I have the Beverage center, and I love this fridge. I love the two sizes of ice, and I love the four doors. The freezer space is so much more efficient to use than the side-by-side Frigidaire I replaced. I can see everything and get to everything. I use the infuser on the water pitcher in the Beverage Center all the time in the summer... continuously brewing iced tea!

Our beloved GE fridge is getting on in years and we've been dreading getting a replacement. This is the first Samsung fridge I've seen that I looked at and said, "Wow, I don't hate this." We may not end up with it, because GE has been so good to us, but I do genuinely love the idea of having customizable panels and I can see local glass shops getting in on the action and offering logos, picture models, and all sorts of cool things that are compatible with these fridges in the future. I purchased a four-door bespoke RF29BB86004M Korean made refrigerator last week. It has the metal panel in the back and the metal panel on the beverage center door. I was getting out from under a 5 and 1/2-year-old LG on its third failure. I had watched a video of yours recently discussing how nobody made a rock solid refrigerator anymore. You discussed all the problems that came with complexity and what to avoid. Having not seen any of your other videos on Samsung apparently I chose this one because it ticked all the boxes. So far so good. It is nice to see that my choice wasn't completely off base. Despite the fact this is the same volume as my previous refrigerator reorganizing the interior and getting rid of handles saved me almost 4 in of floor space. I live in the Houston metroplex, and can readily access repair parts for appliance is myself. The only thing I've never taken on is the refrigerant. We also paid for the 5-year warranty through Lowe's just for peace of mind.

The whole thing is that these may have one of the best sealed systems on the market. When people hate Samsung, it's usually for the icemaker. @@bensappliancesandjunk Many people hating on Samsung Fridges are not always hating it for the icemaker. Many are hating on Samsung's garbage compressors, which apparently tend to die prematurely... sometimes within months of a purchase. There is no way I'd invest in a Samsung fridge at this point. Same for LG's linear compressors, which boast a 10+ year lifespan, but actually die at around 4 years (or less). Who wants to replace their fridge every 4 years or sooner? A fridge is not an iPhone.

I bought this exact model in December. A few things you missed: the bottom refer drawer can on the right side can only be opened if both doors are opened, left side does not have this issue. The ice maker is loud upon the first fill of ice. This is due to the ice dropping on the empty plastic. Once the ice is dumped the water fill is loud for about 5 seconds while the trays are filled. The pitcher fills quickly, & will only do so while the doors are closed. Opening doors while filling will interrupt the fill until the door is closed. As a tall guy (6'3“) the beverage door handle is a bit inconvenient to grab. I tend to open the doors from the top pockets. As noted in another comment, the door open alarm is quick to let you know it's been opened for a prolonged time. It is also quick to send that info to the app. I got the stainless panels & they do pick up prints easily if your hands aren't clean. I may look into a matte black panel set in the future. The water dispenser will fill a 30oz bottle w/ cold water, completely. Being that I live in a rural area the service issues do concern me, I took the leap knowing that & bought the extended warranty from the retailer.

We bought a Samsung Bespoke fridge a year ago. Unlike the model shown here, ours has the beverage center that is accessible through a shallow door in the top left panel. Ours though is the model with the double door on the bottom, where the left houses the dual ice maker and some shelves and a drawer, and the right side can be switched from freezer mode to fridge temperature modes. I love that the freezer has pull out shelves instead of big deep bins. I know that for me, I'd have a difficult time keeping the deep bins organized. I love the idea that we can change out the glass panels to suit our tastes. We got the white for now and opted for the counter depth version. We ordered directly through Samsung. They had a much better price than any of the appliance stores and Big Box stores. It was delivered and installed only 4 days after ordering.

I have the Bespoke with the internal pitcher and white panels just like in this video. Did a review on it too. So far it's fantastic, IMO. The autofill pitcher is my favorite feature, and the app can even connect to your amazon account and auto-ship filters for you when the fridge needs them. Best part is that I got it at Home Depot for only $1499. Great value, I think.

Got one of these two years ago and haven’t had any issues. Mine has the flex zone so the bottom right freezer could be a fridge, which comes in handy when we get a big grocery order or are prepping for something and can throw some extra freezer stuff into the deep freezer. I hope it holds up because it was definitely a pretty penny!

Is a sub zero worth it? I owned one for 25 years with zero problems. Bought a new sub zero when we remodeled kitchen even though nothing was wrong with old one. Now I’m gonna sell home and build a new home and I wanted a stand alone refrigerator and a stand alone freezer. I’ll probably buy a fridge/freezer combo for everyday use also. Wasn’t sure if I should get another sub zero for fridge/freezer or something else. Also when it comes time to purchase a stand alone refrigerator and a stand alone freezer I will gladly pay for your time for recommendations on those units. Thanks and love viewing your Intel on appliances.

Not sure I trust this because every Samsung fridge I have owned has had issues. But I do appreciate your honesty in your reviews. The one issue I have with my current Samsung, beside the ice maker, is the two crisper drawers get small food particles in-between the drawer and the front cover. There doesn't seem to be a way to remove the front cover without breaking. I've tried taking them out of the fridge and using water but it still doesn't get everything out of it and the there is water drops stuck in there. Do you have a solution for this?

@@bensappliancesandjunk We have the Samsung Bespoke fridge and once or twice a year he pitcher will stop refilling. The fix is just wipe down pitcher lid (topside and underside of the lid) and the sensor surfaces on the roof of the beverage center. This fridge is night and day different from our old Samsung fridge. I took the risk on this fridge because the ice maker is freezer and it was very simple, I have not been disappointed.

That tempered glass should make for a nice dry or wet erase marker surface, too. That's neat! I think the compressor in my 12.5-year-old Samsung is finally dying. It's become super loud, and the freezer keeps building up ice until it won't close completely. I think the ice maker is either busted or frozen over now, too. Going to have somebody check it out, but I might be buying a new one soon. I can't believe you've got me thinking about another Samsung! I've had relatively good luck with mine -- only a couple minor issues like a broken ice maker arm that were easy to fix. However, we had a really bad time with one of their ranges of the same age. The mainboard literally blew up, and my ex spent 10 months fighting with them back-and-forth to get it repaired. We finally got it fixed, though one of the active burner LEDs blew immediately after. I swore off Samsung for their bad service, but if I can find this one at Costco, I might do it. Looks like a relatively well-designed unit, and they're all just about equally cheaply made these days!

In general, old Samsungs that are right around 10-12 years old were actually great fridges. I've fixed and re-sold hundreds. The problem was that after that era, they got really bad, really fast. Its like every choice they made was a problem. But honestly, almost everything since then has seen a massive drop in quality.

What is your opinion on the four door flex version? I have it and I love it. I don't need much freezer space due to using a chest freezer for most stuff so I use the other side on the bottle in beverage mode instead of freezer. Gives me the entire top and half of the bottom as fridge space.
@nosteponsnek2617
@nosteponsnek2617 2 ай бұрын
I have looked and researched extensively for a new fridge in my home that is being built currently. I am going with the Bespoke model but the 4 door version with the smaller doors and slide out tray. The main reason I liked that one better is because it fixes the problem you and several comments have already stated and it was obvious to me the second I tried it in the store. The lack of a handle means you have to reach under the door to open, which I like the clean look of, but with the 3 door model its *slightly* too low for my comfort requiring the ever smallest amount of bending which is annoying. The 4 door model (2 sliders) fixes this entirely as having the bottom of the main doors about 6 inches higher up puts them in the perfect location.

I bought the 3 door bespoke from Costco about 6 months ago and it's been solid so far. I opted to not get the beverage center and instead got one with just the autofill pitcher. The Samsung deal at Costco made it a pretty solid deal. The only thing I dislike so far is how quickly the fridge yells at you for having the door open, I almost never get the groceries in it before it goes off. It's a minor gripe though.

Ben- great video. We took a chance on a Samsung RF28K 4 door flex refrigerator. It has overall been very good with one really irritating exception. It appears that during the daily defrost session water leaks into the freezer (bottom left) bottom. I don't think this is the same issue as the dreaded issue that the retrofit kits fixed but rather maybe a clogged drain tube? About every 2-3 months we have to hammer the ice out of the bottom. Have you fixed this issue before? Thanks!

Our 15 year old GE died a few months ago, so we bought this 3 door Samsung. So far we really like this one. It makes a lot of ice and the upper refrigerator area is very roomy compared to our old GE 3 door. The GE was notorious about the ice maker crapping out and the area under the party platter drawer always freezing up with a thick layer of ice that we had to keep chipping out so water wouldn’t run out onto the floor all the time.

I managed to pick up a 60+ year old top freezer (separate door for that) GE fridge that I saw at a garage sale for $175 (it's ugly, has rust stains on the sides and at the bottom of one door, but I suppose I can paint it with some new white paint). Guy guaranteed that it still worked great. HEAVY. Took it home, put it in the garage, plugged it in. Hummed. Checked it in the morning, nice and chilly inside, little laser 'pistol' thermometer reads 30 - 36 degrees F on all internal surfaces (not including the cooling coils). Looks good. I'll let you know when it conks out..... if i out live this fridge, which at this point, isn't a certainty.

I'm in the market for a new fridge and am interested in this model as everything about it seems to fit our needs. I am a bit concern as to whether this fridge would work since your video noted that the doors swings 2 inches wide (there is a wall on the freezer side that would impede the fridge from swinging that wide which our current GE french door swings flushed and doesn't have any issues with). Thoughts?

The Samsung Bespokes we looked at are really nice looking (some of the best in the store) but after being burned on Samsung we went with a GE.
