One should keep in mind that no a single semitic language contained diacritics and dotting in its origin . Diacritics ( TASHKIL ) was invented later to avoid structural ambiguity as in ( إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ )

The oldest OT Canons used by Christians are actually Greek texts, known as the Septuagint. As this video correctly points out, what's understood today as the texts that are accepted by jews and certain protestants, is an early medieval canon which was "updated" (cough) by rabbinical jews, often with the aim of trying to obfuscate prophesies that align with Jesus Christ as the Messiah. This is called "tikkun sopherim". With the Quran, the plausible theory is not that the meaning of the text was altered trough diacritics, but rather simply trough the meaning of the words or the concepts themselves. Fred Donner has some great lectures/books on this.

In the early period, the Holy Quran was without dots and Arabs, it does not mean that the Arabs did not have any concept of dots and Arabs, but they were so mature in their language that they did not feel the need for dots and Arabs. This also happens in other languages, then when the Qur'an came to Ajam, then the need was felt to decorate the Qur'an with dots and Arabs, so then Arabs were created.
@Mortablunt5 ай бұрын
The introduction of critical marks was indeed to make sure everybody read things correctly, because otherwise, different dialects, and different amounts of language ability would cause the text to mutate and corrupt. The fact that the Quran has these is proof of it as the garage, to paint the prophecy that God will see through his preservation and sell the fact that it has continued on preserved, is, indeed, a proof of its authenticity

I think the "problem" of missing dots and diacritcs just comes to us modern ppl. We can not understand how a culture worked were writing was a skill that just few ppl know. So the problem did in reality not exist since the original way of tradiction was the spoken word not the written text and is in some way until today when we see the importance of hifz al quran.

@@serkanalbayrak2972 I have an example. It’s the Ayah in Surat Saffaat: { بل عجبت ويسخرون} This Ayah means “Rather you wondered while they are ridiculing” or “Rather I wondered while they are ridiculing”. Wether or the other meaning depends on wether there is damma or fatha on the ت. And both Qira’aat are of course correct and they are not contradictory. But both meanings apply. The first one talks about the prophet wondering about the disbelievers ridiculing and the second talks about Allah that his wondering about they’re ridiculing. The Arabic term which I translated to wonder is also an expression of opposition or liking. The word wondering also indicates an unexpected occurrence. But this doesn’t apply for Allah because Allah knows everything and nothing happens outside of his will. And also the second meaning which would be liking is not applicable because of the context. Therefore the word is to be understood as opposing or rejecting this behavior of the disbelievers. This, and Allah knows best.

Muslims should not use the suffix A.D. Because it is standardized under the Julian and Gregorian calendars, the system spread throughout Europe and the Christian world during the centuries that followed.
