Does anyone in the U.S. actually say that? "Call 911"? It sounds so fake. I would expect people to say, "call a doctor" or "call an ambulance". And if it is clear that the person is dead, "I think we have to call the police".

As fake as it sounds, we definitely say "call 9-1-1", especially in medical emergencies Calling 9-1-1 is what you do to report any type of emergency, and the dispatcher will send firefighters, police, paramedics, etc according to the situation However, in cases like robberies, assualt, etc, people will also say "call the police", which again, is just calling 9-1-1
@PaperclipClips2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, those were the words I used when I came across a situation where someone needed assistance. I said, "Could you please call 911? I think someone needs help. "
