If I'm standing up when I order. Tipping doesn't happen. Sit down restaurants or when someone is serving me and doing all the work over and above just putting something in a bag, 100% I tip fairly well. But not if someone just rings up my order while I'm standing there.

Carry out does not need to be. Every job has to make and pack things up. Groceries are nonstop

I don’t tip with take out or going through a drive thru. They are getting paid to do this and they aren’t really waiting on me. I do worry that they’ll spit in my food if I don’t tip sometimes which sucks

Can't believe when I go to fast food places some of them ask me if I want to leave a tip. I remember 20+ years ago working in McDonalds on Holidays and occasionally on Holidays the people who came by would try to leave a tip because it was a holiday. (This only happened on Holidays) The owners would simply confiscate that money for themselves. Trying to keep the tip INTENDED FOR THE EMPLOYEES would have gotten you fired.

at what point will customers get so fed up that we will stop going out?

As an Aussie I found it hard to remember to tip And hearing some of your wages was shocking and eye opening

Being Australian this would freak me out as we don't do it everywhere. Some food places have tipping jars.

I have tipped on holidays, especially if the place is crowded.

Fun fact: tipping culture is a legacy of slavery. I personally use tipping selfishly as a way to cultivate good karma lol i tip my checkout people at the grocery store, whenever i get coffee outside, everyone. I especially tip my delivery people $8-10 each time i get delivery even if they only bring my food a few blocks. I just feel so blessed to not have to work those jobs and those wages anymore and i know if im ever in that position again i would be eternally grateful for every cent.

Most waiters and waitresses make less than minimum wage rely on tips If they were to pay them properly you're meal will cost 25% more.

Tip in the screen? That money goes to the owners and they decide how much or if they give tip at all to their staff. I can tell for personal experience, we do not keep a record of all the “tip in our shift” and the owner give you , if any ,once a month or so.

I pay cash. That way I can dictate a tip or no tip.

I'm not tipping for carry out. That is their job. It would be like tipping McDonald's that packages your food. I will only tip at a sit-down restaurant, and I do not go by percentage. Most states pay minimum wage. There are only a few states that pay $2/hr, and those employees prefer it because they make more from us! I live in a state that pays minimum wage. I do not feel the need to tip like some do. People who tell people not to eat out if they can not afford to tip 25% or more are the problem, in my opinion. I don't tell others what to do, so don't tell me. No one's going to listen to that. I will tip for exceptional customer service and only if it is good service! I don't care if they like me or not, lol.......... if I want a higher pay, we fight for a fair wage, and they can do the same....

So I go to the Braves game I go into a beer cave. I grab my own beer I go to self checkout that’s the only option. There is an option to tip. Who I am I’m tipping? No one helped me

Not from usa but visit ny and vegas. The tipping is mental starbucks where they hand you a drink tip. Buffets years ago they would take your money and show you to a table and expect a tip. It's madness Tip restaurants tip taxis porters etc but for handing you a paper cup or takeout no I'm not tipping

I think a tip is for when you go above and beyond. If your doing the bare minimum or doing your basic duties then you don't get a tip. If you don't get paid enough then go work somewhere else and stop working for these sleazy companies who won't pay their employees a decent wage
