Has your ceramic coating stopped beading? It could be time for a decontamination wash.

This video shows you how to perform a safe decontamination wash using the Gtechniq range of maintenance products. We recommend carrying out decontamination washes every 3-4 months. A decontamination wash will deep clean the paint and remove ingrained dirt from the paint, reviving the water beading and bringing back that deep rich gloss.

A closeup shot to demonstrate the lack of hydrophobics prior to the decontamination is needed, basically you pulled a "trust me bro" and I am left less convinced. Most of what I saw was adding more ceramic spray which isn't a step restoring a ceramic layer its a step topping over a layer with more ceramic. Since its' common practice to "decontaminate" prior to spray sealant or spray ceramic I guess none of this has anything to do with the original ceramic coating.

Is C2 ok to use after every wash? I like the finish and it ensures no drying marks but know I’m not necessarily using it as recommended. It’s on 7 year old paint but v high quality.

How often do I need to use iron remover on paint if it’s still not beading after decontamination wash ???

You shouldn't need to keep on using the Iron & Fallout Remover if you've carried out a thorough decontamination wash. If your paintwork isn't sheeting then we would advise to use C2 Ceramic Sealant to add a layer of hydrophobic properties to your ceramic coating.

Maybe I'm wrong, but why you didn't use an acid shampoo or foam to remove all the inorganic contaminants? Using a topper to promote the beading is a bit like masking a good product...

A snow foam was applied as the first step (approx 50 secs into the video). We do not use or advocate the use of acid shampoos or caustic products as these over time can degrade the coating. All of the products used in this video are pH neutral and coating safe. The use of a topper is entirely up to the individual, it is all about personal preference.

@@GtechniqUK lots of your competitors advocate as using acid shampoo to rejuvinate the coatings beading characteristics, top brands don't use caustic agents on their products... Also in my opinion using only pH neutral is a big limit to the full range of working made by alkalines and acids... A big plus of ceramic coatings is they withstand strong chemicals.

@@LucaBonato Shampoo's rely on surfactant technology as opposed to aggressive/acid or alkaline ingredients to clean and remove dirt. This is why our GWash is pH neutral to remain safe for Wax and Sealants.

Every coating I've seen from a reputable brand will tell you to do a maintenance wash and a topper anywhere from 3 to 6 month, if you want the coating to last. I've tested alot of coating from untra to Kenzo and with a daily driver without any toppers they last no longer than 3 years with delicate care. That is washing every week with a delicate shampoo or a rinseless wash and a through decon every 4 to 6 months depending on conditions and mileage.

Can I use a Clay bar on the car without damaging the ceramic coating

We would not recommend this as clay bar mechanically abrades the surface, so it may degrade the coating.

If the car is particularly dirty then yes we recommend it, but if it is just light dirt you could move straight the shampoo.

@@Manosh0 We recommend using the Citrus Foam first and then going with the All Purpose Cleaner. The Bug remover delivers better cleaning applied to a dry surface.

After snowfoam do you dry car then put w6 on wash it off and dry it or can you just do contact gwash then dry it and put ceramic sealant on thx great video

There is no need to dry the car after snow foaming the vehicle, just rinse the foam off and then apply the W6 to the wet surface, then rinse and use the GWash.

Huh? The whole idea of a coating is that it's supposed to obviate the need to apply waxes and sealants, yet here you are applying a sealant to a car that has been washed just ONCE since the coating was applied. Nuts.

A ceramic coating does negate the need to regularly wax a car. However, there is no harm in applying a top-up product so long as the paint has been thoroughly decontaminated. C2 is fully compatible with all our coatings and is a hugely popular product used by detailers and enthusiasts.

I treated our car 2 years ago with Exo . I wash it once a month with bilt hamber . Still beading .

I use W6 Iron and general fallout, W5 Citrus, PH balanced Snow Foam, G-wash and C2 Liquid crystal in that order, on a 4 year old Megane that had a deep clean and ceramic coating after. I've used the ceramic once every year since owning and had little or no effort getting the car back to how it should look, car gets washed maybe 3/4 times a year (weather dependant). 2 bucket method and extra one for wheels I always insist on too.
