If you were to switch after just a few months, then you could possibly run into some compatibility issues, but if you've waited past the coating's effective life, then there shouldn't be an issue. Obviously if you're doing paint correction, then it doesn't matter at all.

@@ShineAndPreserveDetailing There's no way to guarantee compatibility until you test it. Try it out on a small area like the trunk lid to see if it works ok. If not, then you'll need to re-work it with a true polish. If so, then you're good to go!

Great video! But I have a question. I am about to put Ethos on my mothers new car. I don’t live near her to be able to wash her car on a regular basis. She is in her 80’s, and doesn’t hand wash her car. She goes through (gasp) a car wash on a fairly regular basis. And no, it isn’t brushless. She gets the wax added on. I believe they do use a “ceramic” wax. How would this affect the life of the coating?
@Esotericdetail2 жыл бұрын
Chances are, they're using pretty harsh chemicals for that kind of wash, so it's going to have some kind of effect on it. Just a thought, but if that's how the car is going to be maintained, is it worth the coating? It's there simply to provide long-term good looks, and ease of maintenance. When we've had customers tell us that's how it will be maintained, we usually talk them out of doing it as they aren't really gaining anything at that point.

What happens if you put sealant over something like Gyeon DuraFlex? Does it damage the coating?
@Esotericdetail4 жыл бұрын
We've had videos on that very subject. The short answer is no, it probably won't hurt the coating, but you go backwards in terms of protection. There's absolutely no need whatsoever to put anything on top of a coating besides a coating maintenance-specific product.

@@Esotericdetail I did it for additional gloss. I could be wrong, but I think I gained even more gloss and shine out of my paint. It's a Phantom Black Audi color, looked unreal with all that stuff on it.

Do I have to remove paint sealant if I want to apply gyeon can coat?
@Esotericdetail2 жыл бұрын
No way to tell for sure until you try it. Perhaps just put Cancoat on one panel first and monitor it for a week. If it works, then do the entire car. If something doesn't seem right, then strip off the sealant before applying.

Yes, you want to strip anything that could be on the surface prior to applying coating.

Anything different if the car is wrapped in ppf?

The same thing applies, but if you need to do any polishing, I would look at something like PPF Renew polish by Gyeon.

@@Esotericdetail I am thinking of applying hybrid ceramic wax on regular intervals instead of coating, as I done see advantage of coating if I can apply hybrid ceramic wax on regular intervals. What is your opinion?
@Esotericdetail3 жыл бұрын
@@gmaail... It just depends on how much effort you wish to put forth. A "ceramic wax" won't give the same level of protection, nor will it have as good of self-cleaning characteristics as a true coating.

People are applying ceramic coating on top of self healing PPF. Is that correct?

That is correct. And in our tests, it doesn't affect the self-healing characteristics of the PPF (at least with Kamikaze-Collection coatings).

Hey Todd can you explain a little bit about what happens to the older ceramic coating that is on the vehicle when you apply a new one without polishing the vehicle first? I know waxes or sealants will just erode away from chemicals and washing etc. but I am confused about ceramics
@Esotericdetail4 жыл бұрын
Similar to waxes in that they will start to erode from the finish, however with coatings, they just do it at a much slower pace. Coatings will typically lose their effectiveness long before it's actually gone from the surface.
@waxmanvids50154 жыл бұрын
