Hey, I take mine outside, in the yard. Dump the large hair grunge in a bag as you do. Use a aircompresser to blow everything clean. That circular air filter was out with vinegar and air dry after air compressor blow dry. A few drops of lemon oil dripped for lemony smell while vacuuming. Pretty much what you do. I do it for my wife, she hates cleaning the vacuum.

I can't even get my husband to stop pissing all over the toilet and leaving it for me to clean, to throw his empty soda cans in the trash instead of leaving them sitting on the counter and around the house, or stop tossing cigarette butts in the yard...

I'm pretty sure my helping my wife on housework isn't my own doing. My father was an old NAVY guy, WWII. Everything had its place and there was no wavering. White glove inspection. He also was a firefighter. Again, everything had its place. We had our weekly chores. To up the pay we had to do specfic deeds over and above. The other aspect too was my family came from farm/ranch world. You don't eat if you don't work. As to the lady whose hubby can't hit the can. If that is his own "head", leave it dirty for him. If you have to share, install a bidet, he will get the hint. If he had ANY MILITARY service, he was required to clean the floors, commodes, urinals so clean that the virgin Mary would be honored to take a dump in there. I know it sounds crude but in basic training somethings are blunt. Dump those spent cigarettes into a designated receptical. If he doesn't get it, use the no clean up no AMORE! If he is smart he will learn fast. Try to use his military training of "policing himself" if he served. If that's a non subject, with hold what he "wants". You don't live in a pig pen. You won't tolerate it from him......new years resolution for the whole household. My buddies get upset with me when our wives talk. My wife "brags" about all I do. The wives want that. My buddies complain to me. I tell em, its a 2 way street. You are an adult, retrain yourself. You have to do it at your job. Make your wife happy makes a happy life, as the saying goes. Like I said, for me, my pop instilled in me by example and waving a bigger carrot of more $$$ It worked.

I do a lot of sewing and quilting, so lots of thread around the vacuum beater bar. My favorite thing to use is an old seam ripper. It's gets under the strands without scratching the beater (brush) bar and easily cuts through the strands

It looks as if UK Dysons are slightly different to yours. On mine the clear drum can be separated from the rest of the cleaner, so it's much easier to get all the dust etc out. Also the roller should come out to make it easier to get all the hair off if it's really tightly wound around. I clean my tumble dryer vent with my vacuum cleaner, much easier

We have used Dyson vacs for decades, and our latest acquisition is one of the cordless models (love our Dysons!). We always empty the dust/cat hair collection bin outside, either in the compost bin or in a corner of the yard where the birds can pick out hair for nests (some birds do use the cat hair in their nests). The dust and silt come from outside the house, so we chose to return it to its natural habitat and give back its freedom. 😄

Instead of using that narrow lint brush around the edges of your Dyson dust container, just pull the whole central grey cone out of the clear plastic bin. They aren't fixed or fastened in place and separate for easy cleaning.

I clean mostly commercial offices and bew home construction. I added a strong magnetic strip across the front edge. Another Oreck I collected magnetic name tag backings, people just throw these away when they get new badges. Glued onto front. Great for picking up all those paperclips and staples. New construction, wire, nails, screws, etc... Helps save the vac hoses an if bagged, the fan blades.
