He’s all about video games. His business plan/model used for Microsoft doesn’t compute well with Hasbro. They need to replace him asap or he’ll do more damage to Hasbro and furthermore have more people fired. The Chairmen need to wake up and bring someone who really knows the toy industry and how it works. IMO, brand fatigue isn't the reason for these problems. People have been saying for a long time now that the reason why comic book movies are failing is fatigue well,Deadpool and Wolverine just shut that fatigue answer down,if you give fans a good movie with characters they want to see and a good storyline that respects said characters and the source material then people will pay.For me personally and the many Transformers fans I've talked to the Bayverse strayed too far for the source material and instead of the focus being on the Transformers and their conflict it became about the humans and big explosions🤦🏽♂️Prime became the exact thing his brother told him to not become"Don't be one of those Hollywood pretenders, don't go yelling and screaming and pretending you're a tough guy. Be strong enough to be gentle".Movie Prime was always yelling,threatening to kill someone,that's not my Optimus Prime,most of the G1 characters are unrecognizable,the G1 Transformers designs were smooth,beautiful easy to identify,now they are just mangled metal🤦🏽♂️I just recently rewatched the entire G1 series and all the movies and despise the cartoon series being from the 80's,i got movie fun from the cartoon than the movies,now im not saying i didn't enjoy the movies at all,their was a lot i did like but the crude humor has no business being in a Transformers movie and some of the Transformers acting like gangster thugs is just ridiculous and unnecessary,90% of the humans in these movies act like they have ADHD,they just run around babbling nonsense.I know plenty of people love the movies and I'm glad that they do,I'm happy those films introduced a new generation to the Transformers but they aren't the Transformers i grew up with,every major pop culture is in the toilet, Star Wars, Star Trek,Terminator, Dr.Who Indiana Jones,Marvel and DC, none of them are making the movie they should,they all have a long standing fanbase but IMO these studios couldn't give a damn about older fans of these franchises,sure they throw us member berries from time time but the heart and soul of these franchises have been hollowed out IMO,i know everyone will not agree with me and that's understandable, everyone has their own opinions. I hope this is not the end of the Transformer movies,their is so much lore to bring to the table.

The way the Transformers franchise has declined in quality, it seems eerily similar to the fate of the Terminator franchise. I think if Transformers One was released after Dark of the Moon, then it might have done better financially. Also, it might have encouraged Hasbro/Paramount to move forward with making future releases animated, instead of live-action. I think that AOE and TLK should have been shelved. A good, animated Transformers film would be a sort of "cleansing of the palate" to help re-establish the brand.

Hasbro has always been an “evil” corporation. They had problems coming up with a cool toy so they leased a product line from Japan to sell here in America. I think part of the reason going to movies is dying out is that people have less expendable cash. How much money is there to throw around like there was 5-10 years ago, or even 20-30 years ago. Cost of living is forcing hard choices. Corporations are starting to see the price of their actions.

I think the biggest "out of touch" moment in recent movie memory was Wheeljack in Bumblebee versus ROTB. But it's a trend, it seems... billionaires put in charge of important positions that have no clue what the people want, and they end up killing what they were hired for, or at best, hocking worthless product that ends up flopping. Like you said, intentionally destroying a good thing. As for Ollie's. Up here it's re-releases of Beast Wars that showed up there, nearly all Terrorsaur. Much more of Star Wars and Marvel though.

In fairness to Target and Walmart I think that blame falls on how hasbro does their toy release waves and cases. If you order a case of deluxe class bots. They’ll get 4 transformers in. One CEO is not a one-size-fits-all deal. Different companies do need different mentalities in plotting the direction of their brands and their specific type of products. A guy who knows video games might not be a comfortable fit for a decades old company that specializes in action figures and card games. I can totally get pulling back on the film financing. Their last few outings have been poor performers, even with the G.I. Joe brand. Even if Retaliation made money, they followed it up with nothing for eight years, which ended being a stinker of a reboot that's been largely forgotten by now. They rode the Michael Bay train out too far for Transformers, and it hurt the longevity of the brand. Bumblebee may have performed better if it didn't come a year after The Last Knight, perhaps the same could be said for TF One. So, it's both strategy in development and being able to market these as fresh experiences. It might need a breather. Star Trek felt belabored after Next Gen, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise had flooded the air waves for 18 years. It needed a break and a refreshed vision to try bringing new life into it. Even then, Star Trek Beyond was a great film, but it didn't do great business, maybe because of marketing, maybe a bad taste after Star Trek Into Darkness. Franchises can writhe up and down based on all types of actions and reactions. Regardless, maybe Transformers needs a long break from cinema screens to rebuild excitement. Maybe. Just my perspective.
@JohnDoe-ez8ndКүн бұрын
The Elita-1 deluxe figure will be released in November 2025. Maybe, and mind you, that’s just a thought, if you are a toy company that produces a theatrical movie, to sell your toys, maybe, have the full toy line in stores before the movie hits theatres? Learning about Mr Microsoft CEO reminded me that I have purchased the Transformers Reactivate toys. Great designs, but this video game, that I was looking forward to purchase, doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon. SO, the man in charge, who thinks that video games is the way of the future, doesn’t seem to be able to have one produce. I wonder what’s his annual salary. SkyBound Transformers comic seems to be loved by everyone. A best seller months after months. You would think that someone in charge at Hasbro would take note and try to figure out what people love so much about it and try to translate it to animation, toys, collectibles, a video game maybe… But you would be wrong. I do hope that the Transformers One universe will continue either in a streaming series or a comic book…

Listen, man. I keep saying this, but I get a lot of backlash: Transformers only appeal mostly to the Gen X audience. This is why the comics did/do well, this is why the toys did well. What we all really, really want is the first scene of Bumblebee. That level of serious animation, no jokey joke Optimus Prime and Megatron. Just straight up series stories with deep sci-fi exploration. Maybe they'll hit a ceiling of $250-$300 million a movie, who knows, but then again, so do Aliens and Terminator, etc. But at least they'll make their core base happy and they'll always make money. Stop trying to appeal to children. The kids will love the stuff WE'LL love. Either that, or go with live action, but I think by now Bay ruined that for the general public.
@descheers2217Күн бұрын
I think some of the issues is how many different versions of transformers there actually are now. I'm in my late 40s and I'm G1 through and through and the closest thing I've seen in the movies to what I want from a transformers film was the G1 stuff featured in Bumblebee. But that's just me. There's other movie goers that want the beast wars or later incarnations of transformers series made into a movie. There is so much out there that whatever they do they aren't gonna appeal to all the fans.

It isn't just the movies that influence toy sales, it's the quality of the toys. How many people like buying a figure that feels like cheap plastic and very hollow to the point it feels like it'll break just from holding it and they expect premium price for it to add salt to the injuries. I know we can't expect transformers like the good old G1 days where they were made a good portion of them in a combo of decent plastic and die-cast so they feel sturdy and have a good heft to them but we do deserve more than cheap hollow crap that feels like they don't care about the franchises name.

You can blame the Michael Bay movies especially, "Revenge of the Fallen" ,"Age of Extinction" and, "The Last Knight". THEN the, "Bumble Bee" intro reinvigorated interest into the franchise but then they go ahead with a weak lay up with that, "Rise of the Beasts" nonsense. How many times are they going to let the fans down with inconsistency and poor character development? They had 7 movies to get it together and dropped the ball 5 out of 7 movies! Transformers 1, 3 and The intro to Bumble bee made a little bit of sense. Now you reset the lore with, "Transformers One" & they thought the public, post pandemic, was going to venture to the movies for possibly more nonsense? Nah bro it doesn't work that way.

Out of all the Transformers movies Paramount released, I find it hard to choose between "Bumblebee" (2018) and "Transformers One" (2024) on which one is the best while a lot of people seemed to love both of those movies and they are both certified fresh on Rotten tomatoes. For me it's a tie

This was pretty much well known after they sold off Eone to Lionsgate. Going forwards it would be Paramount who fully finances these films as opposed to it being co-partnership.

I think that they need to keep all IPs released as close to 84 animation as possible. Because relying on new kids and new story... is just going to be disastrous.

They got it right with the comics from Skybound, though. Straight G1 vibe with original stories. They need to make an animated RE G1, like X-Men did...

"Declining toy sales" if they would supply the ones in demand instead of the crap legacy stuff they'd have plenty of sales. I've not once seen an 86 ultra magnus, springer, swoop, or prime on the shelf.

I never expected you to reference Duke Nukem at any point Rodimus! 15:22 That being said, I don't think that we can trust the "Leadership" of Chris. Especially considering the state of Microsoft right now. Sure I'm still waiting for a really good Transformer RPG. Along with another shot at a competitive Fighter some point. But Microsoft themselves aside from the Fable series have never really been known for such genres. It's been mainly Shooters and Party stuff. And if Reactivate is still going to be a Warframe Style quasi MMORPG, they better come out soon before the popularity of the genre declines.

Something forgotten through all of this is that recently, it was revealed that Hasbro’s president reached out to Josh Cooley about making another movie and other projects. So it’s kinda weird that that just happened for this to come out not too long after. And it makes processing all of this more difficult, because what actually is happening there? It’s confusing

With the amazing music video for the Transformers anniversary done by Studio Trigger, is it possible that the Japanese studios could help revitalize the franchise? Maybe something like the Universe War, Shattered Glass, or even adapting the Legends comics into animation?

I feel like Paramount wanted One to fail so they could get more control. This debacle isn’t helping their case. Paramount needs to lose the rights. TFHypeGuy mentioned that New Line co-funds these movies with Paramount, so maybe Warner Bros. could acquire the rights from Paramount if Hasbro wants to move them. Travis needs to come back and be a creative consultant at least along with Josh Cooley. Make that original script, give Bee a mouth and voice, make Optimus a gentle guy again and ditch the Bayverse altogether. #SellTFtoLegendary #SellTFtoLaika

We are in the G2 era all over again. They should probably let Japan take over for content for the next show. They seem to be good at getting the stale off of transformers
@justinarzola45848 сағат бұрын
True, when Beast Machines failed they let Japan take over for a while for the 2001 RID and Unicron Trilogy shows and it kept the franchise afloat until the Bay Movies success.

skydance is merging with paramount, not buying them out, also, hasbro used to have a video game division but they shut it down i think because it was cheaper to license their IPs out instead, companies don't want to take risks with making new IPs, they would rather stick to what they know sells
@ALoneFox24Күн бұрын
The marketing was so bad that even after people are saying its good or even mid, I won't see with my money. It's just not for me with its humor and that's fine, it wasn't made for me. I'm just not going to pay for them for something that's not for me. I'm sad to see the movies die if they actually do, because I want an actually good CGI gritty dark transformers movie set without humans. I know I'm the massive minority so I just stand by and grab old stuff as I can.
@johnnymason2460Күн бұрын
Hasbro needs to continue supporting Transformers projects. Create a separate division to create movies(live-action and animated). They don't have to be in theaters. Streaming services like Netflix will do just fine. Let Paramount continue to produce the live-action movies. Just stream them instead of putting them in theaters. Same goes for GI Joe and Power Rangers projects as well.

Understandable as the movies haven't really worked for them other than the early Bayformers which was a decade ago now. Battleship and D&D flopped. G.I Joe never caught on after three attempts and even Transformers has underperformed or flopped in the last ten years. Shame they don't focus on making good quality cartoons again to advertise their toys.

I think it's clear Paramount is a big part of the problem. And even if Hasbro won't produce new movies, that doesn't mean they won't license out the IP and let someone else produce it.
@ShockwaveFPSStudiosКүн бұрын
I don’t see this as a sign of saying, “We’re done making Transformers movies”, it just means that Hasbro’s no longer involved with the productions of Transformers movies, or any movie based on them. Instead, they’re just going to license them for future movie adaptations similar to how they did for the Activision developed Transformers games. It should also be noted we still have another Transformers movie in the works, just not the one you expected. Although Transformers One became number one on Paramount+ and other digital services, as well as being nominated at the Oscars. it still doesn’t help the fact that it underperformed at the box office. The next Transformers movie under Paramount had been announced already, but it’s gonna be a crossover between it and GI Joe, as it’s a sequel to Rise of the Beasts. After that, the future for Transformers movies is unclear. While Paramount owns the rights to the Transformers movies they’ve made, they don’t actually own the exclusive film rights to the series. This means, that any other studio could release their own Transformers movie, and not Paramount, which would be a good thing to all those guys who believed TFOne bombed because of poor marketing (I don’t believe it flopped because of poor marketing, so it’s not my problem). The downside to this is that, since Paramount owns the Transformers movies they’ve produced, any chance of a different movie studio to release a sequel to TFOne is unlikely.

How exactly do fans want a serious Transformers? What does that even entail? It's such a vague request. Star Trek fans wanted that, and then complained to the high heavens when they got it. I think we need good stories and good characters. I don't care if it's "dark" or "serious". TOne's financial "flop" was due to oversaturation. It's not even a question. And it's over saturation with questionable quality. It's unfortunate because it's a great movie.

Some people refused to see Transformers One because it was animated and the first trailer made it seem that the movie was going to be more like a buddy comedy.
@TJsVetteКүн бұрын
Also, the Transformers One toys are cheap and they pushed so much of that crap out and it just sits and finally goes on clearance because no one wants those toys. If they pushed the regular harder to find figures to the stores they would sell toys. Good luck trying to get anyone to listen tho cause they know better than the actual consumer. I'm willing to bet if they did a survey, the people would tell them.

I'm not entirely either surprised or hurt by this, honestly. Outside the first Bayverse films (except THE LAST KNIGHT), Transformers, as a brand, has never left a big impression on moviegoers after the failure of the 86 movie, and, after the final installment of the Bayverse, the movies outside it did less than expected. Hasbro needs to think about keeping their brands afloat right now, since the movies have not been successful at all, and their cartoons are forgotten about.

This is a real shame that we may not be getting a Transformers One sequel since this movie was absolutely fantastic. We may get a sequel to Rise of the Beasts due to that movie making more of a profit, but as for Transformers One, a sequel is pretty moot unless it releases as a streaming movie on Paramount Plus.

Okay. A few things. First, Chris either needs a reality check or a new job. The money comes from toys. The other stuff is just advertisement. Second, yeah. Sadly the movies are slowly dying. So that’s a factor. Three, the marketing for the movie was garbage. Paramount has been having problems with that for years. Four, this could be a blessing in disguise. Paramount will have to put in a lot of effort to the next movie with a smaller budget. Five, if Hasbro wants to focus on games, then maybe outsource to a good developer and redouble efforts to Reactivate. I’m fine with it being delayed. But we need updates.

Hasbro never made one single live action Transformer movie. They made 7 movies with Transformers in it. But not a movie had a Transformers as the main lead. Not even the Bumblebee movie.
