People were disappointed in most of the live action movies. I was hoping a new animated movie would bring many back, especially with quality animation, but that first trailer killed any real chance. The "Badassatron" line alone caused my brother to nope out.

I don't think you can blame the movie's poor performance entirely on the marketing and release window. Transformers movies have been bringing in smaller and smaller audiences since The Last Knight. The only reason the Bumblebee movie turned a small profit was because of its lower budget. People are tired of Transformer movies and they are checking out of them, whether they are directly linked to the Bayverse or not. Of course, it also didn't help that TF One's budget was 147 million dollars, which probably ballooned thanks to the actor's strike and the choice to load the cast with a lineup of big-name movie stars.

I had decided to finish off the last of the Transformers Lunchables at my Walmart, and my local grocery store. I never got to partake in the "Scan To Build Your Bot" event, but I still had a lot of nostalgia enjoying them again, much like I did back in the mid-2000s. So even though Hasbro and Paramount could have done a lot more food collaborations than just Lunchables, I do appreciate the single Memory Lane that they at least took me down on. Also Lunchables they're very useful to have at work.

But, now , we have to see Morgan Lofting join the All-spark!!While on Transformers One, the movie scripting wasn't too bad, it was impressive at best!!! Knowing that one the characters would be Sideswipe in the movie, it would be iconic if we have his G1 brother Sunstreaker since they were compatible in the 1984-1987 seriesAnd yes, G1 allowed freedom for likes of Peter Cullen and Frank Welker to voice more characters in addition to Optimus Prime & Megatron, Lofting's passing will be felt by both JOE fans and G1 Transformers fans. now, assuming Paramount Pictures does a post-mortem on how they fared, I never say no to seeing Transformers Two coming out!!! bee tee dub, I totally agree with you about TF1's switch to a series, opening up this new, pretty damn kick ass continuity, for some Prime style world building and charecter development. It'd probably be cheaper, especially if whatever platform kicks in on development cost. Plus, I mean, VFX on a 20 foot wide screen in 4K, as opposed to a 55" screen in 1080p, or even still 4K, obviously has a far higher cost to produce. I just really hope we all aren't forced to live in a world, where we don't get to see more of that Cybertron, because yeah.... It's 100% ABSOLUTELY my favorite TF movie of all time. Yes, I'm 48, and saw The Transformrs The Movie in The Theater when I was 10, and it's now my 2nd favorite TF movie. ROTB is 3rd, then 07, then bee, and that's my list in order, every Transformers movie that's been made, for the big screen anyway, in a nice top 5 format. Slug and Snarl in G2 colors? Those will be interesting. Horribull, that might be something to look forward to. Micronus? The way these "leaks" are coming out staggered like they are, makes me feel like they're really not leaks, but more like reactionary test shots. I mean, the Prima. He at 1st was no color, no head, then he comes in color no head, but with the alt mode, and finally we go back to the exact same no color one we saw 1st, but amazingly now he's got a head. Then with the Red Alert, same deal. To me, it seems as though all 3 shots of Red Alert are taken by the same person, at the same place, just has that feel to it. Think that's feasible? It's still early enough, that they can see the freak out over Prima's head and change it lol. I think it makes a lot of sense, and looks pretty obvious to me. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong, and those test shots have Grime vs Crime's slime smell all over em, so be it, but if I'm right, I kinda think it's a pretty convoluted way to go about it, but that's more of an argument for why Hasbro would do it that way, rather than doing something that NO corperation will ever do. How bout let us, ya know, the old man kids who spend all this money behind our wife's backs to keep them afloat, be involved in some decisions. More than the token, and clearly fake "you choose" things, where it ends up being obvious that the figures are all already tooled and ready to go, because the losers show up a little later on anyway. Unless it ends up being your end all be all favorite charecter that loses. In that case, you'll NEVER EVER see that figure in your lifetime lol. But have a paid style live stream, where the hardcore people willing to pay to be involved, are given the chance to voice likes and dislikes, or given an ABC style choice, and tally up a winner on things like headsculpt or color scheme, etc, if the design team knows they're kicking around major changes to an established charecter. It'd be potentially a win win situation. I think a set up like that to some degree would at least be worth giving it a try.

I think theatrically, the franchise just isn't bringing people to watch it. It NEEDS a rest. There are many factors to why TF One didn't do well and maybe just being a year after RotB might be part of it. There have been a lot of reinventions, but I wonder if having TOO many reinventions has diluted the brand. I wonder if a back to the basics of what Transformers IS all about will appeal to people once more. Heroic Autobots vs Evil Decepticons with the fate of planet Earth hanging in the balance. Robots hiding in plain sight. Return to the zeitgeist of the energy crisis with the Decepticons out to steal energy.

Even if Elon isn't serious, opening up the company to new leadership should be given thought. Hasbro has way too many properties that are in need of correction and renewed focus: Transformers with games (shovelware), movies/shows, distribution, and toy packaging (headless figures). D&D with similar marketing issues. Honor among Thieves fans want more. And you touched on the gatekeeping and ridiculous action taken. Magic the Gathering fans are getting tired of relentless crossovers diluting what makes Magic Magic.

I think Transformers One's box office results are highly unfortunate, and likely a major factor is the "I'll just wait until it's on streaming" attitude which will likely shut movie theaters down sooner or later. I do feel that the Transformers brand is nearing a saturation point to where Hasbro is going to be fighting an uphill battle to bring in new fans and keep old ones. It's difficult to come up with a solution because there are a lot of things that I personally want very badly which no other fans or collectors seem to be remotely interested in, so I think a divided fan-base works against the success of the brand...

Honestly, as an in and out transformers fan, keep the big movies in theaters as cartoons, get families out there, and let them have fun. Keep maybe the more serious and/or the live action style to something like netflix. I think when you try to make live action, its split with trying to make it look visually amazing, which they often do, but then relies on actors , and the plots just seem everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Of whether or not Elon WOULD do Hasbro right, I agree. He's not the kick. But I also think he's not serious about buying it. Hasbro does NEED a better approach to how they are doing things as of late though. And YES, Godzilla did awesome, though Minus One was last year. How great was it that the King of the Monsters got a super serious movie and a fun kaiju romp and both were worth watching?

I agree that Hasbro should set up a streaming series as a follow up to Transformers One. They could set it sometime in the future, when the Autobots and Decepticons have started recolonizing the surface of Cybertron, and the Quintessons attack to go after the Energon and to destroy the new (Optimus) Prime. While the Decepticons attempt to accumulate Power and bolster their personnel to attack the Autobots. I feel that this should be a 20 episode season of half hour shows. The First Season should be the war between the Autobots and Quintessons, with updates on the Decepticons. A Second Season should be the Start of the First Autobot-Decepticon War. As the show goes on, time should visibly pass by and the energon resources should dry up. And it should continue until it comes full circle to where we get to where "More Than Meets the Eye" Starts off. (Where Wheeljack and Bumblebee head off on their mission to search for energon/power conductors.)

I didn't think TF One was a good movie at all, I remember the negativity from the trailer amongst TF fans but like all TF stuff happy to judge it on it's own merits and judge it I did. For sure it was it's own continuity, I remember reading early on "it could be a back story for any transformers continuity" which it certainly wasn't, it couldn't fit G1, didn't fit Bayverse, didn't have any obvious connection to the Knightverse and not even a nod to EarthSpark. With all those garbage non transforming toys licensed out by Hasbro appearing everywhere, the movies being a failure, the layoffs, the fire sale on paraphernalia, the moving office I wonder and worry what the future will be for Transformers especially since we still don't have a modern Windcharger.

A new cartoon that continues the story from Transformers One would be amazing. I also wouldn’t mind if they gave Japan another shot and let Studio Trigger create a new anime. To captivate a newer audience, it seems like the new Hasbro CEO is focusing on expanding gaming content. A re-release of the Activision games is definitely in order-War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, and Devastation on all platforms. Remasters would be even better. And a new game would be awesome. Or at least some sort of update on Reactivate. As for comics, they’re great as they are, and Hasbro should just let them continue doing their thing. I also think Hasbro could do a better job promoting some of their other IPs, like G.I. Joe. If the success of the comics is any indication, there’s still plenty of potential in that franchise, and I believe they’ve got something special there.

I agree I don’t care about the nfl One you can 1 blame the marketing 2 to many dam joke from BB 3 it wasn’t CGI like BB that would of got everyone to go but I wanted to watch on TV as I didn’t have high hopes it was ok but not great! They need way better none woke cartoons! I wish they would actually pick up from G1 season 4 & then add new characters & new looks to the bots for whatever reason! G1 sells sorry to say!

I just couldn't get past the atrocious cringe humor and horrible casting (at least for bumblebee). I'm so sick of the absolute garbage that is marvel style humor. I will not support anything that is even remotely like the objectively terrible humor in TF 0ne. There are tons of kids movies that aren't trash slop and whether it is or not TF One looks like slop to me. Visually its great and the story might have been ok, but the humor killed it for me and my family.

People don't get why Transformers One failed. It's too cartoon-y and the characters talk like they're in a Disney movie. Megatron doesn't joke like that. They went way too far with the kid humor. Transformers One has its staunch defenders, but to normies or even to half the fanbase, it's a turn off. I'm glad it failed. They should never go that cartoon-ish again. The original G1 did not dumb down itself (mostly) to simplistic Disney-like style and storytelling. Neither did Beast Wars. TF Prime is kidd-y but it didn't make its characters, especially Prime and Megatron, joke-y joke-y. They should've learned their lessons from Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem. Don't go kidd-y. Go adult and serious animated/live-action.

I agree 100% with you my friend. The tone should have still been a little darker. It did have its moments but I prefer the 86 over all the live action with dark of the moon a close second.

That's what I was thinking when watching it, I dislike when the directors of a Transformers film don't focus on making the film correctly. Instead, they direct it in a way, that takes away the creativity and seriousness, that some characters like Bumblebee, Shockwave and Starscream were known for. The coneheads, Ramjet, Dirge and Thrust, felt too silent, in their appearance.

They really need to mellow out the Transformers movies, and make a successful series, that shows that they were going for a decent go with the script. Heck, make Arcee, Hot Rod, and Springer become relevant more. Oh, and Ultra Magnus actually appearing in a Transformers film.
