There was no USAF options in the origional release. It had different Navy marking options as well as the Maruders. There was a seperate USAF release.

Hi Phil, good review of a great kit which is still the best A7 in 1/48 in my opinion, I've built several. Just a couple of points to note;- There is no such thing as a single seat A7F based on this configuration. The YA7F "Strikefighter" was a very different Corsair with an afterburning engine and 4ft longer fuselage, it was cancelled at prototype stage and I think the aircraft is at Hill AFB Museum where I saw it in 2004. Also the US Marine Corps didn't operate the A7 as you mentioned. I just don't want subscribers scrabbling about looking for decals to produce versions that don't exist! You can however produce Greek, Thai and Portuguese A7 models from this Hasegawa release as all the necessary alternative bits such as different refuelling probes/receptacles are in the kit, just a few changes needed depending on the era of operations. It's a shame that Hasegawa didn't include the sprues containing bombs in this version, that they released in some versions of this kit, but obviously their Weapons Sets cover that. It would be good to see you complete an A7 as there are tons of great colour schemes already available. Keep up the good work!

The original release was an A-7E only and the D was released as a seperate boxing a few months later. Hasegawa went to the dual boxing release of the D and E in 2010. A stunning kit even today!

I built one (a first gen boxing) and the canopy was much wider, but no taller than, the cockpit opening. So much so it was noticeable even with the canopy in the open position. Perhaps this was a problem with the early boxings(?). But a fun kit none the less.

I bought that kit a few weeks ago based on the box art alone. I just finished it this week and was delighted to see the review. The kit is very well done and I throughly enjoyed the build.

The USAF flew the A-7D whereas the U.S. Navy flew the A-7E. The USMC never flew this aircraft. The U.S. sold this aircraft to Greece, Portugal and Thailand.

I've been stocking up on classic Hasegawa, it's seems as though they aren't as desirable as they once were. I've gotten multiple 1/48 tomcats for half of what they used to go for. In my opinion they are still very much very highly detailed beautiful kits.

I have the HobbyBoss 1/48 in my stash. Looking at the kit, it has excellent rivet detail and panel lines. Can someone comment how it compares to the Hasegawa kit?

I still have the spare seat for the A7D in my spares box from the kit i built for my mate back in 88. Also still got a weapons set as well.

He is meaning that compared to the ZM kit, the Hasegawa Phantom is showing it's age.
