My labs for pretty much everything were abnormal since I was 12 years old. PCOS, IBS, insulin resistant, high cholesterol, couldn't control my weight. I was so inflamed. Went through this and following a "health" diet with lots of whole grains and fruits and veg and was never full and kept getting sicker and fatter. 3 years into keto my labs are perfect and I am 28. Thanks to both of you for sharing this, so happy for you Neisha! and it gives hope to us other Hashi patients. Hashimoto's is so misunderstood and despairing! I have been unable to find adequate help for decades now and have tried so manuy things and so many different kinds of doctors. I cannot find a functional doctor who knows anything about all of this in Italy. So now I am without a doctor and without meds, and mostly feeling exhausted, drained and depressed, overweight and all the rest we know of sypmtoms. I keep self educating myself with books and online. I am currently being extremely strict with the keto diet and if I can now do 17 hours daily. It's been over a month but nothing has happened yet. I am still trying and hoping...I am 49 and have insulin resistence on top of Hashimoto's, EBV, chronic fatigue, fybromialgia, adrenal fatigue, and other things I have been told without finding relief. the worst is the depression and the exhaustion, which just go hand in hand. I stumbled upon an early type of functional medicine MD in Austin (Dr. Ron Manzanero) more than 20 years ago after I was so sick with hypothyroidism that I could not get out of bed and he met with me for over an hour. He wrote on his prescription pad and handed me the note: "never allow a doctor to determine how you feel." I sat there and cried like a baby. I began my healing journey that day and am now a spit fire who gets shit done every day. I am 55 with no arthritis, etc. I would add to what my good MD wrote on his prescription pad: "never let your lab results drive how you feel or how you heal!"

That’s great that you are able to go off of thyroid meds! Our whole family, husband, 6 kids, and I have Hashimoto’s. I went for years without a diagnosis. Even after I suffered a miscarriage and the doctor ran thyroid labs with a resulting TSH over 6, at the time the lab showed a TSH of 10 or under as normal, I was told my thyroid was fine! I’m glad that most doctors know better now and more labs have lowered the normal range for the TSH but you still have to have your own knowledge because still too many doctors have little education when it comes to thyroid health.

I wish I could show you the difference it has made already in my body. My face especially around my eyes was always swollen. Now it isn't. Im pretty sure I suffer from insulin resistance because the belly fat is not budging much. I'm currently trying IF, can make it 12 hours without snacking but when I try to do 20 hours I find I need a snack before then. I'm not giving up though. I also found that stress caused me to eat and crave the bad carbs. Being on keto is the only time I've ever been able to lose any weight at all. Wish I had tried it a long time ago. I'm also post menopause. I became menopausal at age 39. Diagnosed with Hashimoto's at age 35. I now 58.

The day I've been waiting for!! These are GREAT results!! I watched this with my husband late last night. I've been doing mostly carnivore, but not fully commiting. My husband said, "Are you going to jump all in and give it a try?". Heck yes! I had my Endocrinologist appointment a couple of weeks ago. My thyroid function is doing well even though I have Hashimoto's. My TPO is 130, TGab is 2. I'm on therapeutic levels of Vitamin D, and also put iodine in my coffee. My Dr. Doesn't have me on hormone replacements, yet. I'm still hoping to send it into remission with diet and exercise! I have a follow up in ten weeks. Congrats on your amazing numbers and thank you for sharing them with us!

BIG Congratulations, Neisha! When I was on the S.A.D diet & menopausal I developed Hashimoto's symptoms, which were NOT proven by my labs, my doctor told me she could find nothing wrong but she could refer me to a psychologist. (Huh?!?) Then I went to DR. google with all my symptoms, which pointed to sugar/wheat products/high carb diet. I went low carb, now keto-ketovore and no symptoms since. Any stress (lack of sleep, poor diet, emotional stress, overwork, menopause, babies) will whack out everything further and labs are a snapshot of where you are at the time taken. Folk should view them as such and address diet as first culprit.

I would also recommend these things if you have hasimotos...get food allergy tested, and take vitamin B liquid complex, vitamin D3 and Omega-3. This has helped me and I also try to limit carbs and sugars, with clean eating. Most of my inflammation has cleared up and I am feeling a lot better. It is a life change for better health.

Thank you for crunching the numbers. My TgAb was over 1200 and doctors didn't seem too worried. Had a TSH of 3.5 but symptoms as if it was at least 25 (sleeping 12-16hrs per day, immense swelling - ankles ballooned to the same size as my thighs, grape sized tumor in my thyroid and tones of others issues). Done gluten free, Whole30, AIP but it's keto that started improving my symptoms. I'm just at the beginning of the journey so videos like this are really informational and can help with motivation. Still long way to go but at least I'm moving the right direction.

Right on Neisha! I've always tracked my Hashi's with TPO antibodies with my N.D. We want them to be "negative" under 35 (SonoraQuest labs). That's remission. We can tell the state of my immune system based on my TPO counts. Immune symptoms are different then hypothyroid symptoms, although some can be related to both (inflammation, histamine reactions, stiff joints, etc.). My hypothyroid symptoms (body temp control, hair loss, brain fog, weight gain, etc.) are always consistent with my TSH (thyroid speed) and Reverse T3 (active thyroid hormone) numbers. My Hashimoto's was uncontrolled for so long, that my thyroid was damaged. That damage will require lifelong medication if it is unable to regenerate in long-term remission. It's important for folks to understand the difference between the immune system actively attacking self and the thyroid under producing. We also focus on keeping my vitamin D levels super high 80+ as vitamin D is critical for the immune system to be able to differentiate self from an infectious agent (I also have cancer history so proper cell function is a big deal). I follow keto customized to remove foods that are reactive to me. No dairy or gluten since they tend to follow autoimmune pathways of reactivity. Veggies are important for me for optimizing estrogen pathways since I tend to veer toward estrogen dominance. So I eat my Brussels. I also fast intermittently, I'm just not a breakfast person.
@tamlinchamberlain85904 жыл бұрын
How do you know your thyroid was damaged? Did you have a scan done? I have had untreated Hashimotos symptoms for YEARS. Just last year I was diagnosed and my (former) dr basically said it’s no big deal and the discomfort in my throat is probably acid reflux and to take antacid 🙄 I’m paranoid as my sister was recently diagnosed as hypo and her thyroid is no longer making any hormone. A cousin has thyroid cancer. Waiting on updated lab results from a new dr (previous doc refused to test my thyroid again !). Should I request a scan?
@HeatherCooan4 жыл бұрын
@@tamlinchamberlain8590 Yes, I had an ultrasound done and the tissue is all scarred. It's possible that it could regenerate the longer I'm in remission, so we'll see. But so far, it hasn't, meds have been the same for the last 3 years in remission. I actually had a doctor tell me I didn't need thyroid meds when I was first diagnosed. He told me that it may help me with weight management, but otherwise, it's not a big deal. She was dead wrong. I started to lose my memory and my eyesight along with all the symptoms Neisha talks about. I'm glad you have found a new doctor!

I am just starting keto/carnivore from my research into Dr. Berry's info about health and wellness. I am watching videos and learning about eating meat since I watch videos by Laura Spath to decide what to do. She talked about having trouble with any kind of moderation and that is a problem I have always had with a food addiction. So, I bought meat for the coming week, and will gradually move from keto to carnivore as I determine what makes me feel the best. I developed hashimotos disease when I was pregnant with my oldest son about 20yrs ago. He is 19.5 yrs Old in his 2nd yr of university. I have asthma, bipolar, fibromyalgia and hasimotos disease. I am hoping to get a handle on these, plus reducing my pre-diabetic symptoms, plus anxiety and depression and manic behaviours. I hope to address all of this on the eating plan.

I have a history if slightly low wbc and low platelets slightly low glutathione as well (hypothyroid for 10 years) I had normal wbc and normal platelets before i moved into a toxic home. Not sure about glutathione as I’ve never had that checked before the move. I was exposed to multiple toxic molds and I tested positive for toxic chemicals as well (mtbe styrene etc ) so those are a few other things that can cause low numbers if anyone else is dealing with this. Unfortunately they still haven’t improved as after I moved I ended up with another infection (Bartonella) so once i clear that I’m hoping to retest and see if those numbers have improved and I’ve also lowered the chemical toxicity as well through sauna. So I bet that removing the implants would make a difference as well !
