Absolutely true story I cannot make this up.. I was going to meet my friend at Applebee’s to car pool which was right near a highway. We had to perform in two community theatre shows that day. I was running late to meet him, I got out of the car when I got there to put something in the trunk and I closed my car door and got in his car. I returned 12 hours later, as we pulled in I saw my car headlights on. I thought weird.. I left the headlights on for 12 hours!? I got out of the car to see.. I LEFT MY CAR RUNNING FOR TWELVE HOURS IN THE PARKING LOT! How no one stole my car or there was still gas in the car is BEYOND me! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

I also had Highway to Hell play in my car when I thought I was going to die. I was driving very early in the morning, before dawn, in the worst blizzard of the winter, and I forgot to turn on my 4 wheel drive. I met a semi, and the tailwind from his trailer, combined with the road conditions caused by the blizzard, was enough to send me into a spin. I spent the next 30 seconds or so turning donuts between all 4 lanes. Luckily, I managed to keep between the guard rails, and there was no other traffic on the highway. Presumably because no one else was crazy enough to be driving before dawn in the worst blizzard of the winter.

My driving instructor in Massachusetts mentioned that style of footwear can pose a problem while driving. There are stories all over the internet of car accidents involving people driving while wearing flip flops, as the beloved Jimmy Fallon highlighted in this segment of one such incident. And I’ve actually also driven while wearing ‘backless shoes’. I also understand why you wouldn’t want to ruin freshly painted toenails with stuffy closed-toed shoes in summer, and would instead opt for the open-toed alternative. But do you know what else would protect your nails besides flip flops? Driving barefoot.

@@Sammstar420 It's not where I live (in Au) but it's the type of urban myth that people still think is true. I drive in bare feet and put shoes on once I get to my destination. Yes, that's a hassle but it's the safest option. Sandals/thongs are dangerous, shoes w heels are dangerous, the rigid type of sneakers I have to wear for my dodgy feet are dangerous, so barefooted is my safest and best option.

My last car had a weird issue where if i idled too long the car alarm went off. It was one of those viper ones to it was SUPER loud. The first time this happened was in a taco bell drive thru. I'm pretty sure the guy on the headset has some form of hearing loss now

I had a geo as a first car. the driver's door didn't open, the passenger window was stuck half rolled down. the passenger door didn't close so we tied shoe strings together and tied them with the broken seatbelt and I had to actively hold the door closed by a rope because the handle was also broken. and it didn't go above 50mph. 🤦‍♀️

I remember one time when I was about 8, my paternal grandmother (who’s a hateful woman and dislikes me) picked me up from school. My cousin (she picked him up form school too) wanted Subway so she went inside with him while I stayed out in the car and waited for them. Now here’s where the car fail part comes in. My mamaw is very protective of her stuff and doesn’t like when ANYONE gets her stuff dirty, especially her car. I was in the front seat (since the car was parked, I moved to the front to change the radio) when I noticed a big bug on the windshield. Don’t remember what kind it was but all I remember was that it was HUGE. I didn’t want it on the windshield so I looked and saw the windshield wipers. I turned them on and it killed the bug. Problem is that thing like exploded and it’s guts went ALL OVER THE WINDSHIELD, ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. Like it wasn’t in just one spot, it was EVERYWHERE. My cousin was watching me from inside Subway and his eyes went big with shock. Like I said my mamaw is hateful and overprotective of her stuff so if she sees that I got her car dirty (even In the slightest bit) she’d flip her shit. I panic and my cousin starts motioning the use the water sprayer thingy, I do that but it SMEARS ALL OVER THE WINDSHIELD EVEN WORSE. I’m in full panic mode so I turn the windshield wipers on again and make it EXTREMELY worse. My cousin goes outside to me and is like “oh she’s gonna kill you” since my mamaw hates bugs. She came outside, yelled at me and made me clean her windshield when we got home. My papaw thought it was fucking hilarious and was laughing. Not really a fail but I think it’s funny about how much me and my cousin panicked over a smeared bug’s guts on mamaw’s windshield 😂

The music ones made me think of my own story. I'm a southerner, but I spent a year in Iowa for school (taking a break now). At one point in October my mom came to visit me, so I had to drive to the airport to pick her up. I have a small, boxy kinda car, so driving I had to constantly fight against the wind. It was storming that day, and also I was on the main road, so no trees or buildings to cut the wind. So basically I was fearing for my life in my little car. I had the radio on the rock station, which was at that moment playing Rock You Like a Hurricane

My boyfriend and our housemate were driving home from a show really late at night. While stopped at a red light, a random stranger opened the back door and started to climb into the car. When my boyfriend and housemate asked him what he thought he was doing, he stopped and said "wait, you're not...I thought you were my Uber?" Then in complete silence and horror got out of the car and shut the door and walked away. Except, no one uses that door because it's broken, so he had to turn around, walk back to the car, and shut the door again.

I owned a used car so rusty a hole had formed on the driver's side floor. I wore a rain suit to drive. I used to wear my old glasses on rainy days in case a puddle sent water into my face. That way I could quickly swap to my new glasses then find a stopping place to clean the old ones in case it happened again. Snow and cold weather meant there would be ice on the floor pedals.
