Yes they were married in real life, and the characters they played on "I Love Lucy" (Lucy and Ricky Ricardo) were also married. So the only difference between them and Mickey & Minnie Mouse is that they used a different surname on their show. Maybe some assume Mickey & Minnie were married regardless because they share the same surname (Mouse). What's even more interesting is that your question involves Lucille Ball (Lucy) and your name is also Lucy! lol ;-)
