A few years ago, my sister went to the door to give candy to someone and she forgot to close the gate behind her (we have baby gates in our house to block our dogs from certain places). Because the gate was open, our one dog followed my sister and my mom followed the dog (so she wouldn't get out). My sister didn't notice our mom was there (she's very oblivious), so she opened the door, just as my mom bent down near the door to grab the dog, and my sister hit her head with the doorknob, and knocked her flat on the floor. She cut her head and required a few stitches. While this was going down and my mom is laying on the floor with her head bleeding, the kid is still standing there waiting for candy. We shut the door (when mom got hurt) and opened it again a few minutes later to go out and found the kid still standing on our porch waiting for candy. #HalloweenFail

When I was growing up, every Halloween when I would get home from trick or treating my dad would allow me to sort my candy. The following days I was given a single piece in my lunch. He would place my sorted candy on a high shelf out of my reach. Then the following year, he would give back out my candy to the trick or treaters that came to our house.
