Timepoint 2:00 This is why the Roots are the best band on late night. Whenever Jimmy riffs, tells jokes or whatever, the band picks it up and plays something totally related or appropriate for the subject at hand at the moment 4:33. i.e. if a xmas reference, they would play a xmas song or if Jimmy makes a silly jokes the drummer would do a rim shot 3:36 (ta-dom-crash) . Also they only participate in any conversation if they are directly engaged by Jimmy. 5:23 Not whenever they feel like it. But on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jon Batiste (the bandleader of Stay Human) The band is great but its Jon that is the issue, , all Jon does is yell into the mic during Colbert's monologue, play random piano chords or scales . Just so distracting and ruins the flow of the moment. Props to the Roots for being awesome - always. You guys rock.
