Hashtag United are a one-of-a-kind football and esports club, based in Essex, England. Formed in 2016 by Spencer Owen as a group of mates playing exhibition games, we now play in the 7th tier of English football, the Isthmian League North. We won our league in our first season in non-league football and were looking good for a second promotion when the 2019/20 season was voided, but after the 2020/21 season went the same way with us top of the Essex Senior League, we were eventually awarded promotion based on PPG over the two part seasons. In 2023 we won the Isthmian League North and will now play in the Isthmian Premier!
We merged with AFC Basildon Women in summer 2020 and formed our women's team, Hashtag United FC Women, who play in the 3rd tier of women's football, the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division, after they also won their league in 2023. We also now have 40+ youth teams, reserve and development teams, an inclusive team and a walking football team...plus our esports team who play FIFA at the world's highest level. It's the same problem Boro had without Hackney, sitting midfielders not tracking with purpose, putting effort in to recover but not picking up when they actually get back, leaves spare men all over. But that looks to be changing now, good management from Devs and new lad looks like he can sort that too.

Not gonna lie, it’s tough seeing my club drop so many points recently…but this is the same team that can hit their stride at any point in the season and win every remaining game. We may need to sign a game-changing defender, though. Losing our Wonderboy keeper to that loan recall has been tough.

I think what we’re not realising is that it’s our first season in a new league. We’ve just been promoted to a higher and more quality league. For example, Fulham got promoted to the premier league. We can’t just expect them to challenge for top 6 in the first season.. Even the league we dominated last season, we came 8th the season before which helped lead to dominating that league afterwards. The tags will be back!! 💪

It’s cause do two things. The tactics are so ass, just cross the ball and pray. And the biggest issue is the players. And I mean this with no disrespect some of these players just ain’t good enough. Put this squad agaisnt a team like baiteze and they are getting annihilated

Yeah, even Haysom - the first goal he could have stepped up the line with Randell and it would have been offside. Looks like Tommo really is the glue that holds the defence together, hope he is back soon.

Matty lost his runner for the first and Nathan unfortunately stepped inside to support Haysom when he didn't need to for that 3rd which left the wide man open. I think he's been the least culpable defensively of the entire backline though.

I think the lack of a holding midfielder is really hurting hashtag, the opposition don’t need many chances, because when they do there’s acres of space and multiple options with defenders running back to goal. Need someone back there sitting in front of the back 4.

This may sound mad, but I don't think the first goal goes in if the defender doesn't come in with a late touch. It looks like the goalie got a good block on the ball, but it was redirected by the late foot of the defender. That ball had a funny spin in the air, which makes me think it would've been a great save if only the goalie blocked it.

Some massive positives to take away from this game, you can tell the boys are fighting hard and you love to see it. But still, we really should’ve won this game, while I’m glad we snagged a draw the way we did we should’ve been looking at a 3 or 4-1 victory here, need to try and reduce our mistakes defensively especially our wide. Great to see the boys get a point, but what is our marking? I know we've got defenders out and yada yada, but week after week we'll be 5v2 around the box and somehow they always have a man in acres of space? That 3rd goal how has their player gone unnoticed until he's got the ball? Playing defense like a club fighting relegation, but going forward like a top playoff side. Hope the defense can figure out what went wrong, cause the forwards deserve to be winning these games. A 6 game winless streak with that many goals conceded cant, and shouldn't, be ignored or brushed off. Even if the team looks great everywhere else.
