Not only am I realizing that that may have been way too fast but I’m also noticing that the stem may not be as strong as I could be. Would you recommend returning to water rooting until it’s stronger or pruning it back as is? The leaves are pretty small but the plant is about 18 inches. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I need some help. I have 3 avocado trees from seedlings that I'm very attached to but I'm moving out of California to Colorado, possibility Michigan. I don't want to leave them behind and thought about getting one of those grow tents that people use to grow weed because it seems like it would fit my avocados. Other issue is the two oldest are very tall and I never pruned them (which is why I'm here looking at your video). One of them just got a few leaves down near the base recently but otherwise they have very tall stems and only have leaves at the very very top. Having them be so tall makes it hard to transport them and it's not a good time of year to cut them back! Not sure what to do but I really don't want to leave them behind.
@TheElsinoreGardener
@TheElsinoreGardener 4 жыл бұрын
Live Collegiate Shag You can cut them down and take them with you. If you keep them in a container that you can handle and bring inside when it’s cold you will be able to grow it. Take it outside when it’s going to be warm and you should be ok. When you cut it it will flush out more branches. You can then keep it a manageable size.

Since i saw people's avocado is pretty tall after a couple months, is my decision correct to move it to soil because of yellowish leaves or do the leaves turn yellow because of another problem? And how many times i should water my avocado a week? Thank you, have a great day

Watering depends on a lot of things, soil type, temperature, dryness of the air etc. If you have a store bought wood chip type soil of a peet moss type you need to get the plant in good soil first and foremost.

L O F E N O I A L O F I have cut them as low as 3” but I like the way they grow when you cut them at 10” the will flush out more limbs below the cut and get bushier that way.

Without grafting a known good scion, the chances your fruit will be garbage is extremely high right?
@TheElsinoreGardener
@TheElsinoreGardener 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say garbage, it may be plain or great. It will have many of the characteristics of the mother but time will tell if I let them grow. I will most likely graft onto these.

Can't you just hand pollinate with a stick and a paper towel stuck on the end of the stick? Have you ever had avocados grow? I saw a video that said they won't grow from seeds.

They don't grow true to the mother plant regardless of what seed the plant originated from, it more than likely will not resemble a hass at all.
@TheElsinoreGardener
@TheElsinoreGardener 3 жыл бұрын
True, you can graft onto them if you like. I like to let them grow a while and see how the tolerate the heat and cold where I’m at. I then evaluate them for what I’m going to do next. Either graft or try to grow it out for years.
