Thanks guys. AWESOME and balanced review! NO camera is perfect but this X1d sounds like it has more than its fair share of problems. I cannot believe it does NOT have a LIVE histogram (!?!) which is extremely useful for outdoor/landscape shooting. The upcoming SHOOTOUT with the Fuji GFX sounds great. Looking forward to it. And excellent shooting by Jordan. Nice job. Thanks guys.

Ok, so let me be the first and likely only one to post a POSITIVE COMMENT about the X1D. I actually own the camera and love the fact I can sync my strobes at any speed with the leaf shutter lenses. It gives me lots of flexibility to overpower the sun. Being colour blind, I have relied on Hasselblad cameras from their earliest digital versions to be able to get the best right out of the camera. I also own a Sony A7R II as a backup and to be able to use a variety of tilt/shift lenses. Even being colour blind, I can notice that skin tones are a little magenta. The aspect ratio is something else I find easier to compose with. In any case, people will buy what appeals to them coupled with what they can afford. To each their own. I can't be the only one to appreciate the camera... they seem to be swamped with orders and have exceeded their expectations in terms of sales.

I am surprised about this review, when I handled a X1D at the store I must say I didn't like it, and I thought that was just me. Now when I see this review I have to completely agree, and his sentiments are exactly what I felt. I also handled a Leica SL at the same time and fell completely in love with it.

Looks like HB implemented the touch screen focus points synchronously meaning it won't change while it is busy finding focus. HB should maybe have a look at something similar to the multi core processor implementation of the Olympus EM1 mii for their next version.

this is a perfect example that shows that +TheCameraStoreTV is heads-and-shoulders above any other YT "gear reviewers": they don't hold any punches. they give the ultimate reality check to the OEMs that no other reviewers will...and do not confuse them with those bald, angry reviewers who seem to do the same but in reality just shill for Fuji. keep it up, TCSTV, hopefully this makes the X2D better even though i won't be able to afford one in this lifetime.

Good honest review, thank you. Big thank you. too, for changing the bloody awful intro music to something reasonable. This camera is certainly not for me. I get the feeling that we, as potential customers, are being taken for granted. I cannot understand how Hasselblad can conclude that it is OK to release a camera with so many flaws onto the market.

Hey Chris & Jordan this is Vivek from India and always love your way of providing the insights for cameras and gears. I am waiting eagerly for Fujifilm GFX 50S review and comparison with X1D. One more thing I would like to confirm that Fujifilm is not going to bring any successor to HS50EXR. I just loved that camera for its certain type of practicality in some cases and there is still a place for a successor of a camera like that. Hope you confirm about this.

Two things. (1) Picking nits, I believe that it is a 35-point focus system not a 45. (2) Low-volume cameras can't average-down the cost of firmware per camera like a Sony or a Canon and are left at a competitive disadvantage.

thank you . Interesting view, I do believe that for a camera of that price there touch screen should be more reactive, camera should take more frame per second , it shouldn't fill the buffer so quickly and the bookeh seems to be too geometric , I wish I could try one of these very soon , I think the X2D will solve all those shortcoming . hope they improve the EVF

I Know that I have like all you work up until this video were I thing you have just got it wrong. I love this camera Yes its a big cost but so nice to use. Hi, I know you heated the Hasseldlad X1D, But I just been to one of the camera store in the UK and took both cameras out that the Fuji GFX and the Hasseldlad X1D and I found the Fuji uncomfortable to hold just awkward to control in manual i.e. changing most of the setting other than aperture. As to the image quality there was little to no difference on what I shot, But when I have look at other test I think the Hessalbad is still just a small bit better. But the Hessablad is so much nice in the hand. You have got to remember that both of these cameras are medium format and need to be used as such.

A very nice, balanced review that gives you a great feel for how the camera might feel if you held it. But it contrasts heavily with the Leica M10 review, which seemed to show a serious dislike for what seems to be an outstanding (albeit deliberately limited) camera.

Awesome video as always. You've done some great reviews of some not so commonly used cameras in the past and I know you've reviewed the Sigma DP line but I'm dying to see a good detailed (and in english) review of the Sigma SD1 Merrill. I know it was a huge flop but I love my SD15 and have been really wanting to get my hands on this camera and try it out. The picture samples on Flickr look amazing so if you're planning to do another not-so-popular camera review pleeeeease consider reviewing this one. Cheers from Seattle.

@VittorioSergi 7 жыл бұрын
yeah, and i'll be standing there with my thumb on the touch screen for long exposure in bulb mode right, com'on get serious the lack of a remote port is unexcusable on a 500$ camera, even more so on a 10000
@lorenzoamato953
@lorenzoamato953 7 жыл бұрын
Bluetooth is the only viable option here. There are too many situations when timer is not ok, and using the touch screen for a long exposure pic in a 50 mp camera on a tripod is... well... emh... (to phrase it nicely) very wrong. And c'mon, even bluetooth is not ok, as there might be other things you want to use the camera bluetooth for, or you might find so much easier to have a cable and a small and easy to use mechanical apparatus in a vast series of circumstances.

I rented this to try it out on a shoot for a fashion mag. Amazing lenses and medium format look. Switch off Jpeg, shoot Raw only as it speeds up the camera a lot. The Sony A7r2, is not comparable, it's for enthusiasts as colours are not great- I honestly don't know any pro that shoots with Sony in conde naste, but this camera I have no idea who its designed for- Maybe drivers who rent lamborginis and drive up and down Luton high street?. Biggest bug is it's speed of operation. Aside from that either spend more and get more or spend less and go 35mm Canon/Nikon.

I'm pretty sure the mamiya 6 or 7 isn't faster than the X1D. Both deliver fantastic results if you can work around its shortcomings. If you wanna make big prints, all these fast cameras can't compete. I don't agree about street photography. You can do it with a slow camera, fewer photos but probably better ones.

great Review as always and a lot is correct, Bugs, Af, .... as the same as many high end MF systems with over 35K price tag... the truth is , you like it or not, the pure image quality coming out of this box is Not comparable even with Phase. Just to some of the commentators: you can ignore as much or long as you want but people still working with MF film cameras just laughing in their hearts. Just understand, the specific needs of some photographers should not be the same as yours. The picture itself says it all, now feel free to keep your head on the feature page of your camera guide book as long as you want, and leave other things.
