About 9 years ago, I hauled 23,500 dozen hatching eggs down to Laredo, TX. They were going across the border to be hatched and raised for broilers. On the way there, I thought to myself, "If I get into a wreck, that's an omelet even I can't eat. lol! Can hardly wait to see what they look like. Never saw baby chukars before. Another great video, enjoying them a bunch. Ohio shuts down tonight at midnight, here in Indiana, we shut down tomorrow at midnight. 😣 Stay safe and stay healthy.

That is a lot of eggs ! And in TX the pavement would be hot enough to cook them... LOL Thanks so much for watching !

Hellow! Good afternoon. I'm a follower of your channel and I like it very much. I got very exited with your activity concerning raising quails and the more loving bird for me are chuckers. So I started with about 24 baby quails ordered by mail delivery. Wen I got them, placed them in a plastic container from H Depot and used a plastic jar with the red plate in the bottom for the water. Next day I found that the jar was defective and all the chics gort wet. I found 10 dead and dryed the rest with a hear blower. They survived. Later wen they started flying, moved them to a cage I made with the front and 2 sides wire mesh 1/2 x 1/2". The back and top 1/4" plywood and a small 10x 8" door in front. It has 1" x 1/2" mesh in the bottom and handles the droppings very well going through. Wen they started laying I did not closed the cage door well and wile I was out my wife called me and said: bad news!! The quails scaped and I cached one and put it in the cage with one that stayed inn. I went back home and managed to catch 3 more.that was very traumatic for us. But the lesson was learned. My friend gave me a damaged Chinese incubator and I repaired it and learned how to operate it. So I started to hatch eggs and today I had the surprise: One egg found on the cage. I have around 100 quails From 3 different hatches. About 68 are going to lay eggs starting today with one egg. Ggrrrrate!! I'm soooo exited. I sold yesterday 4 dozens to a dely market about 200 yards from my house from the 2 female and 1 male birds that survived from the first group I started with. But the best part is with the chucks. I got them in march and today they are almust 9 months old!!!. Is this normal? Oh my friend, some one told me they start laying at 6 month old. Please, let me know if it is true!! I'm confused with this situation. I have them (11) in a cage 3 1/2' x3'. And they get along very well. I noticed that they have the spurs growing like 1 1/2 millimeters long, so, I supose those are the mails. Beside, the mails have the beck longer and the females shorter. But I think I should separate them in 2 groups. I have 5 mails and 6 females, so, I think about putting one mail in one cage with 3 ladies and the same count in another cage. And save the 3 resting mails in a third cage for spare!! Please, tell me if this is a good balance to start!! I thank you in advance for your help in this matter. My cell phone is 407-301-6364 and my email address is: leorodriguezt@hotmail.com . If you prefer to text the answer, fill free to do what is more comfortable for you. Maby I should put all the chucks together in a 8' x4' x4' high cage I made for 8 Hains I had last year.?

Sounds like you are off to a great start... We all hit speed bumps at first, but it sounds like you are adapting and finding ways that work for you... Chukars, being game birds, and they will lay during laying season like wild birds, more so than like chickens (or even quail), nomatter their age... 6 months is reasonable, but so is 9 months... I think its more of a seasonal issue... Male chukars will fight (and kill) each other during mating... I like the 1 to 3 ratio... Or you can mix them "most" of the time, but separate them when you see signs of aggression (though we have had them fight right out of the blue)... Not sure you need 3 males as spares... With two groups of 1 to 3, if one male dies, the other can easily service the 6 hens... Thank you for sharing... I hope you will keep me up on your progress as time allows ! And Merry Christmas !!!

I suspect that you and Mark are possibly driven for your passionS BY some of the same issues that I NOW face. I learn so much from watching your channel. I am now struggling with challenges and changes with issues in, gardening and animal husbandry, , that you all HAVEo have met and now TEACH others. I appreciate it immensely. COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT IS THE HEAT SOURCE FOR YOUR INCUBATOR? aLSO, WHERE DID YOU PURCHASE YOUR INCUBATOR, I MAY BE INTEESTED OM CHECKING THEM OUT TO PURCHASE.
@BumbleBeeJunction4 жыл бұрын
The heat coils are in with the fans and controlled by the control panel... We purchased ours directly from GQF because we wanted to get it and all the options from one source... So we ordered the incubator, the auto water system (option), the glass door (option), the rollers it sits on (option) and some of the consumables like the humidity sponges and paper liners for the hatching box...
@karenturner79834 жыл бұрын
This is very interesting. Why not let the birds hatch their own eggs? Thanks for sharing. ♥️♥️
@BumbleBeeJunction4 жыл бұрын
Much easier with an incubator... You get a higher hatch rate, you can candle to avoid rotten eggs, you dont have to protect the chicks from the other adults, etc... The more control you have over the process, the better off you are in the end...

Staying home and enjoying KZbin channels like yours. We have wild chukars and quail in our yard occasionally and they are so cute. Quail have both parents with them when they go exploring. Are chukars the same, a nesting pair with their brood?

question❓ we too have chukars and have been breeding them but problems while hatching their eggs in the incubator.. the embryo develops but mostly in the final days we find them dead in shell.. what could be the problem? some even peep the shell but than die before we could help them out.. and I would like to know what you feed your chukars during their breeding period? thanks a lot..
@BumbleBeeJunction3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like either a temp problem (too high, maturing before their hatch date) or humidity too low, in which case the egg sack is shrinking to the chicks, locking them in...
@virginiareid53364 жыл бұрын
I've never seen that type incubator before. Did I understand correctly that you can put more eggs in that will hatch at different times?
@BumbleBeeJunction4 жыл бұрын
You can put several batches in to hatch at different times, but you have to mark the egg racks and keep track of them...

Sister as far as I know Chakoor incubate their eggs by themselves in wild is it the same case with the captivity ones... 🤔
@BumbleBeeJunction3 жыл бұрын
In the wild, they break off from the group to do it, into pairs... It is difficult for them to do it in a captive situation... They are too distracted by the others and do a really poor job of it...
