I find the whole implication that people who eat meat are too lazy to understand the morals all kinds of insulting. I eat meat. I understand the implications of eating meat. I deal with it by trying my best to buy it from more humane sources. Sure I could just stop eating meat and not have to deal with that, but I'm a human. As a omnivore and I see no problem in actually having it. If I had to kill things to eat it, I would. (And to be honest, if prions didn't exist I wouldn't have a problem eating other humans. But that's a whole different can of worms and a story for a different time) I'd just try to make the animals suffering as short as possible.

+Moshe Amezcua (Tankman) True, but like many statements made on the internet, this too suffers from vast oversimplification and generalisation, plus a failure to imagine others complexly. I s'pose the lesson would be to interpret a statement such as this to the simplest extent possible, something like; 'people care less about meat than they do other things' or something similar.(I am aware this is a sh*tty example)
@yunt35209 жыл бұрын
I think he said that because its the easier route to take. Although you may have fully considered eating meat, the majority of meat eaters haven't thought it through, whereas all vegans must have thought it through to make the choice. What did we say about not taking Smith's sweeping statements seriously?
@P3Tankman9 жыл бұрын
Miss Hyena There's a whole world of difference between "Too lazy to change" and "Choosing not to change" So yea, I'm not going to let some militant vegans talk down on me about how I'm too lazy to eat veggies. Or that I'm too sociopathic to eat veggies. Or hell, when they run out of arguments that I'm literally satan and should kill myself.
@GIGHD9 жыл бұрын
+Moshe Amezcua (Tankman) You don't have to kill animals for sustenance. Therefore your argument fails.

Fun China fact: The people themselves have slowly been accepting dogs the way we do in the west. Before keeping animals as pets was kind of a weird concept to them and it was culturally accepted to just try and eat anything. But since China opened up the people have really found dogs are good companions and many are trying to stop the eating of dogs. But the Chinese government is friggin' insane about hating dogs, if you don't have your dog's papers on you while you are walking it they will just beat it to death in front of you, throw it in a trash bag, and charge you for disposal. :P *rainbow* the more you know!

+Rottythepup G.I. CHO!
@putmeawayplease9 жыл бұрын
Why would you walk your meal, anyway?
@fraserclayton74689 жыл бұрын
+Rottythepup I think it's because they used up food humans needed and up until a bit after the cultural revolution their was still mass starvation so it's pretty weird to allow pets to use such a valuable resource. By killing them you kill two birds with one stone.
@Rottythepup9 жыл бұрын
+Ezekiel 3722 Well it actually goes way beyond that, birds have been the real only pet in Chinese history with only the royal family having dogs. This also excludes Tibet from China wherein dogs have been close companions who protect sheep and villages from wolf packs and bears. Although the cultural revolution has had a great many affects a lack of ownership of larger pets was something that was around for quite some time as well as the cultural push to try eating anything. What the cultural revolution did to pet ownership was the communist party banned all western practices and they considered the keeping of pets to fall into that category. So until the late 90's (or early 00's) it has actually been illegal to have a dog as a pet, lest you give into the western influence.
@fraserclayton74689 жыл бұрын
Rottythepup Hmmmm, interesting and informative, thanks. I guess once the CIA massively funds some dog organisation secretly to encourage and subsidize dog ownership then the whole Chinese system will collapse in a tidal wave of western excess. ;)

+Collide™ CS:GO Humans are omnivorous. We're capable of digesting meat, and in many cases, even of digesting it raw without cooking. Cooking simply makes it easier to eat - much the same as many vegetables. So we ARE designed to eat meat, and meat on its own can taste rather nice. It will never compare to real meat but after a while you adjust and enjoy it almost as much as meat without another living thing dying for the enjoyment. Each to their own but I do think people should seriously confront how their meat is made available to them if they're going to eat it though. That's just a good rule for everything in life. Like the electronics we buy for example.
