I actually did my final uni journo project on sex workers' experiences and rights. For many people it's not more than a job, but then it depends on the type of sex work they're doing. I've found strippers and internet-based sex workers are more likely to enjoy their job more, but escorting pays better esp in bigger cities like London. Obviously the dark side to it is that many women (especially migrants and single mothers) are forced into escorting and parlors where they're treated horribly but that's why decriminalization is so important, it allows for women to actually work together and report aggressive men safely. But yeah promoting the idea esp to young women that you can sell sex to men and you're somehow beating the patriarchy like that is dangerous. Anyway, loving the content guys, and I always enjoy your chats in GTA playlists. Keep it up :)

Are the viewpoints from female and male sex workers different aswell? You almost never hear about men who are sex workers. Just saw a comedy movie about it once. Never heard of it since.

I think you guys actually have higher expectations than what we girls do. From what I understand online, WW was specifically good bc of her agency in her choices (whether they're creative or not story wise) and how her love interest is handled. BoP has a similar excitement around it because it has a female director, I think anyway, and in the trailers the women are dressed like women and not sexual objects. That being said, I still think Smith is right that Hidden Figures is more empowering (it's a great movie) but it's also not a superhero movie. It's based on strong women. What girls expect from a movie like that compared to superhero movies, where were generally a love interest, is different. So when girls get a character who breaks any part of the mold they get excited

What I get form my wife is that Wonder Woman wasn't powerful because it was about female empowerment (because it wasn't, really) - it was the first time she'd seen a representation of women, strong and powerful women, yes, but also others, without men being there to frame it or give it meaning. Seeing women, just existing like that, up on the big screen was empowering.

I have known several 'sex workers', they worked for an Escort agency run by a friend of my brothers. The guy was really nice to the girls but mean to the clients if they treated the girls bad. It was all voluntary, no force or drugs. The money was pretty good too, the girls could make more doing 2 nights works than a full time regular job. The consensus was if you like sex and can get on with most people then why not. This was back in the 80's, so don't know if anything like this still exists.....I hope so.

I personally liked that WW had a love interest. It helped the movie steer away from the "men are bad" stance that the some of the Amazons to some degree have. It shows that Diana knows better than that and that loving and relying on another person, no matter their gender, does not make you weak. WW is a good movie, it's not fantastic, but it's certainly not awful.
