I think after seeing enough millionaires admit there are rooms they never use, and forget they even have... it's gotten pretty old. So much excess while others are suffering, some of them our essential workers. Makes me feel really bad how long we've ignored suffering in other countries, though. I get it seems like a huge problem that not one person can fix, but I don't think defending these homes for the sake of just being cool to experience is the answer, either. Moreso when it displaces locals, especially in Hawaii.

Is it really showy though? Cuz I didn't know about these till I saw this video. I think it's only showy if you heavily pay attention to celebrities. Also who cares what they're doing with all those rooms. Most people in first world country buy things they don't need. I think this is only a bother because of how bad the US government is and in that case you should be directing your frustration to the government

Thing is it's not the celebrities that are showing their houses off in these. So in your world, no one should have money? No one should be able to have more than what... what number? What is stopping you or anyone else from being a millionaire? A billionaire? Is it your assumption that to become millionaires and billionaires they took money from the middle class and below? Because I would have to admit you are correct... the middle class and struggling and even the poverty class HANDED the people on this list their money voluntarily. They were all actors and artist. All on the side of judgment and reminding everyone how they are great people and that we need to listen to their message... hmm ever think that they pretend to be on the same side as the crazies... so the crazies won't notice their $57 mil houses?

Yea, it kinda seems like most people have the mindset that if they can't have something, then no one else should. It's like how so many people want to be able to give their children nice things, but also look down on those who had nice things in their childhood, because apparently that means that they never experienced true hardship and don't know the worth of a dollar. I guess it boils down to people not wanting to experience suffering, but then resenting anyone who doesn't have to suffer. Makes no sense.
@TenApplesforTime
@TenApplesforTime 2 жыл бұрын
@@orchdork775 I think people are misunderstanding the whole point of the making fun of rich houses trend. It's not so much "rich people cant have nice things" its "rich people buy things that are huge and glamorous but have no style, personality, or creativity". I mean I'm sure some folks just want to make fun of people who are wealthier than them, but the point being missed is the critique of design when these people have all the money in the world to have the best looking house on the block. Some celebrities I've seen be praised for their houses are Vanessa Hudgens and Doja Cat.

Mean comments from people bitter about their own bad housing situation aren’t really that surprising. Housing crisis is an absolute mess and seeing a mega mansion being RENTED is just crazy. And knowing they likely don’t even use 2/3rds of their own home just makes you feel more bitter. People don’t really pine after that stuff anymore, most people are pining after something livable. I don’t think people find looking at houses like that fun like they used to. Ok but if I get a mega mansion I’m absolutely building a castle, all these modern style houses are stale

people aren’t frustrated with people having dope homes, they are mad at the disparity of wealth. the fact that most of the infrastructure in most US cities are crumbling and the top 1% and .001% own more than 90% of all wealth in the country. not trying to go into a “capitalist bad” rant but that’s the root of the issue at hand. if you compare the us to countries going through the same issues before us-you’ll see shit isn’t looking too great.

But I’m not sure if this video has the right perspective in terms of looking at the comments. Cody has a net worth of $3 million so he’s not in the same boat as a lot of us who are struggling to pay our rent and don’t want to see millionaire basically flexing all the money they have while they rest of us are still recovering financially post pandemic. This video has a similar vibe of the one that he did talking about his income and the guy analyzing how much money he makes and I think moving forward he would be a lot better off not talking so much about money and glorifying rich elitist. Again I don’t want to be shady because I’m a fan but subjects like this coming from someone who has lotta money can rub people the wrong way. I mean even if you only want to talk about the architecture behind the houses shown in these video, and nothing else, these actually do look boring. There are really (architecturally) interesting and beautiful, detailed houses out there that cost a giant fortune. But these are just uninspired, modern estates that feel incredibly empty and cold to me. There's no interesting change in texture throughout the indoors, the walls are just predominantly white (to make it look brighter and spacier), and the furniture is predominantly black and white as well. There isn't a touch of inspired artistry in these.

Why is everyone suddenly an architect and a critique for houses when it comes to this? Why people have such a need to judge these millionaire homes like do you do the same to average houses too? Are you judging your neighbors house too how ugly and boring it is? Feels like people do this just to make them feel better about themselves. Im not saying you're wrong, architecturally many of them probably are really boring but who tf cares? It's not like you have to or ever will live in those houses, it's just very weird what you people are doing. I was about two minutes into the video and came straight here. so glad to see these comments putting what I was feeling into words. It’s totally okay to not relate to us and to appreciate these houses, but as a voice of the poor/working class people, we are angry seeing taxes we worked for and corrupt celebrity money getting spent on ridiculous rooms that will not ever be used, unnecessary decorations that will never be moved and eventually thrown out, it’s overall so wasteful of everything, money, resources, time! our only way to voice this is on these types of pages. Personally, I wouldn’t be one to comment on these, I can appreciate the beauty of interior design while still resenting the people creating and buying these homes, but for someone with lots of money and a nice house to be critiquing less well off people for being angry at this type of ridiculous housing is tone deaf. There’s a reason you’re decently well off and still living in a moderately sized home with stuff of your own on every shelf.

The kitchen was renovated before I moved in, it has contemporary fixtures and fancy countertops and junk, but it tones well with the apartment and doesn’t feel too modern or out of place. The thing about theatrical homes is that they’re pretty pointless. I’m an architecture student and we are always told not to overdo it, because the more spectacular it is, the harder it is to live in it, like, imagine feeling lazy and just throwing your jacket on the floor, you almost feel like you can’t. Also, when a house has a lot of different textures or prints or…is very “loud”, it’s extremely tiresome. Like, yeah, they’re absolutely gorgeous!…for a picture…you know??

People aren't wondering why these homes are so expensive, they're wondering how the U.S. got to this point of excess while the wealth gap has grown and even the middle class is just getting by... BTW, just found out two of my hubby's coworkers at his grocery store are homeless (he's a sushi chef working for the third party in our local chain in Michigan.) One has been suspended from work because of bedbugs. They found out she's been living in her car in the grocery store's parking lot where they work. She's like my hubby who has been working the entire pandemic, some weeks going without any days off. The other coworker is living on a camp ground with her hubby and son because they couldn't find another place when their lease ended. They haven't been getting extra pay since August of last year. It shouldn't be this difficult to find affordable housing in rural Michigan... and more than anything, I'm so glad this country appreciates our essential workers. 😑

@@das3xyllama74 Yeah, U.S. statistically has historic economic mobility. People just copy/paste the media narrative into their brains without actually researching anything. There’s no country in the world that provides such ability to exit poverty and enter the upper classes. Although, yes, income inequality has gotten worse. Obama bailing out the banking billionaires in 2008/09 and the pandemic shutdowns redistributed a ton of wealth to the top 1%. But Amazon also hired thousands of workers nationwide, voluntarily paying them at least $15 an hour and comprehensive benefits, even in jurisdictions that don’t require it. Many rich people make massive positive contributions to society, helping tens if not hundreds of thousands via employment and millions via high-quality services. Yet so many jealously rant about how unfair being rich is. To those people: Have you helped tens of thousands of people? No? Then stop talking trash about the people who drive innovation and our massive GDP in this country lol

@@marynoble9464 This is a really disappointing viewpoint. We’re currently rehabbing my 1927 building and it has been well worth it, and not as labor-intensive as we anticipated. We don’t have a lot a money to throw around but found a great contractor who is incredibly dedicated and talented at restoration, and is as passionate about preservation as we are. Modern builds are very often thrown together cheaply and use materials that are just as harmful in many ways. My friends just bought a condo in a new building for almost quintuple what we paid for our place and they regret it every day. The walls are so thin they may as well be living with both of their next door neighbors. They certainly have the means to restore one of the beautiful homes in my town but now they’re trapped with this awful new build they can’t sell because any potential buyers can see how poorly made the building is. Every day I see this senseless destruction and weep for a future of these ugly, cheap new houses I see going up in once historically significant neighborhoods.

Having great success makes some people lose who they were. I'll ever forget having to turn in cans as a kid just to get a treat, or missing out on school activities like prom because I, nor my parents could afford any of it. Or quitting a job then being evicted because I didn't have a car & winter was deadly. Some of the rich have struggled & they're the ones who do it right. If I ever get there, I'd be content with a house by a lake & some of the fun things that come with that. I'll be sure the rest goes to the right places. I always hope to think like "I'm human" & never think like "I'm rich". In the end, we're all gonna die & it wouldn't feel right to live large & give minimal.
