I mean, I don't like most music that is released after 2016 is because the production of most music rest have been since then is SOOOOO FUCKING LAME!!! The "anti-chrous" and that kinda shit, that started because of the fucking Lana Del Ray, I FUCKING HATE IT!!! And actually I haven't gotten to really started to know things about American Pop music until February 2016, and I'm NOT from America or any English speaking countries, so... Nostalgia DOESN'T fucking apply to me, I like those music purely because I LOVE those music!!! Like I recently have been fell in love with Heartbeat Song by Kelly Clarkson again!!! Like HOW FUCKING HARD the beat hits and the tone of the beat sounds like just makes it stand out from the Synth-Pop that was being released back then, you know? That's the type of good music that I'm talking music!!! And it peaked at No. 21 on Billboard Hot 100, which is technicaly NOT REALLY a "hit", so it's another proof that I like the music from this era (2009-2016, and the quality of Pop music have been gone down after 2012, but there are some good stuff here and there until 2016, so... yeah.)it's because it was "popular" or something. (Which I also KINDA loved, but... I think that Uptown Funk for example, the production is... pretty lame, NOT REALLY polished enough or something? The mix of the radio mix version is better, but... I don't know if I still love it, probably because I've been having like an opinion about the song, so... it's hard and I probably don't really wanna change it either? Or there's something that I don't like? I think that that's probably the case? Maybe it's the saxophone that I don't like or something? So... yeah, anyways.) And btw, just because the music that you listen to have "anti-chrous", have the choruses that are against the climax that music are supposed to have DOESN'T make you "edgy" or "cool" or something like that. I hope that when this era of music (since 2017) have become the past, when people started to phrase it because of the "Nostalgia", I will still NOT change my opinion. I think that the American Pop music from 2009 to 2016 are THE BEST. And 2012 is my FAVORITE year of music in history, because no matter it's Pop, EDM Pop, Electro Pop, Pop Rock, all have some hits that I LOVE!!! That's the good music year that I'm talking about, you know!? Not the kind of "anti-chrous" shit that you or some gen Z like JUST because it's different from most mainstream Pop that came from the past, or the stuff that is popular within our generation (I born in 2002), so you brainwash yourself to like it or something?

This whole attitude towards pop music at the moment is giving such boomer energy. My favourite artist is Taylor Swift and I have been a massive fan since Fearless era - 15+ years, over half of my life. My parents have always been closed off to her, especially my Dad who gets irritated every time I play her music, and for no good reason other than it isnt his icons from the 60s and 70s, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin. I totally get loving the stuff that is tied to nostalgia for you, they are his version of Taylor swift, and they all make great music (Some I like more than others haha). But I never want to be so closed-minded about the music that inspires my own children, so I have to stay open minded about changes to pop music, because the only guarantee is that it will change!

I will give you a Metallers perspective: Out of all the music coming out, majority of modern Pop music, the quality has been diluted: 1/ Auto tune and heavy vocal affects. 2/ Music created by PC Software, taking away feeling in music. 3/ Music barely can string 2-3 musical notes together, lacking musical melody. 4/ Mundane repetitive beats and basslines the main drive of a track. For a Pop song to work, it must focus on the average norm, not towards an acquired taste, not musically advanced, so that means looking towards instant gratifying sounds. A track which provides an addictive hook which repeats in your head till you like it. There are Pop artists which are fantastic and creative, but don’t make that impact due to money restraints to promote, musically too creative and alternative, don’t follow the trends: Maggie Linderman, Lolo, Florrie, etc I must accept, there isn’t going to be an Epica or Nightwish in the charts, they are just another level of creativity and too musically involved, for the average norm. For example, my favourite tracks this year so far: Symphonic Metal from Finland: Nightwish - The Day Of… Post Black Metal from Czech: Ánni - Elergy Of Decay Symphonic Metal from Germany: Leaves’ Eyes - Who Wants To Live Forever Power Metal from Sweden: Amaranthe - The Catalyst Out of a lot of unlistenable chart tracks in 2024, there are some very good songs, which will be remembered. Sabrina Carpenter has brought sunshine back into Pop, with that track Espresso. Fun tracks, like Olivia Rodrigo - Obsessed. I have noticed Pop music has evolved, noticing melancholy style becoming a trend, especially with Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams. To conclude, you present a great video.

0:36 Ironic how when I was a teenager, I said the same thing as her but replaced the music from 2024 with music from the late 2010s [especially 2017 to 2019, even after listening to some good ones too] and said that 2000s and early 2010s music was way better. Thank God I'm not that person anymore cuz overtly-opinionated music review channels ruined my teenhood fr.

The people are hating on popstars just because they are blowing up is insane. Like Sabrina for example, has worked nonstop for ten years just to have the success she is just now getting and now she herself is constantly getting hate and is labelled constantly an "industry plant", overrated, etc.
@LaylaEngland-q6v3 ай бұрын
because sabrina reinvented her whole aesthetic, people forget how long she's been in the industry.

Exactly Like when Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina say Okay it’s time to go people are gonna feel bad the old people that didn’t appreciate the music Gonna feel bad because they didn’t get the chance to love the music they had

Your Midas touch on the Chevy door November flush and your flannel cure This dorm was once a mad house I made a joke, “well it’s made for me” How “evergreen” our group of friends Don’t think we’ll say that word again And one day they’ll have the nerve too Deck the halls that we once walked through One for the money, two for the show I never was ready so I watched them go Some times you just don’t know the answer Till someone’s on their knees and ask you She would have made such a lovely bride What a shame she’s stuck in the head, they said But you’ll find the tapestry that I shed

The women of pop are incredible there talent is way above the charts the way they take their emotions and make beautiful lyricism and music is amazing saying you don’t like there music to be different is so stupid and so normalized it’s so sad

I somewhat agree with the status of current music. One thing about radio and MTV was it exposed us to so many differnt styles and genres, and that isnt the case anymore. I also think the constant search for a #1 is hindering alot of variety. I feel like thats the real issue, lack of GENERALLY available variety.

im a swiftie and my friend doesnt like her songs. but she NEVER shames or puts down Taylor Swift. idk what's going with the ppl now. like its ok if u dont like a singer and share ur opinion on it, but u dont hv to go around making other ppl hate them or talk bad abt them...

I mean I’m not a Pop h8r! But there needs to be more drums & instruments & not soundboards & synthesizers! Pop sounds now like Hip-Hop/Rap music & I feel a drift from it! Like Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa & Taylor Swift is like the old Pop with instruments!
@ZaraHussain-ht3xn2 ай бұрын
Omgg I love songs with lots of drums! This is such a good take. Olivia Rodrigo has prominent drums if you want to hear it

this is why we love olivia 😋 this is so true tho other artists should also try making pop music with real instruments sometime (i mean this in a super nice way i promise - as someone who does like synths!)

you know sometimes having less is enough to make a good catchy and charting pop hit sense its easier to digest unlike metal that is one of the examples of genre that has to much going on and has steps you wont remember cause its so intence and to fast sometimes you need the right balance in a song to make it stand out and make it great
