As a Nottingham native I was a big Froch fan from.just before he got notoriety in the super six, I remember the gym in Sneinton market having posters everywhere with Carl and the WBC belt, Around the same time I also remember selling a car stereo to his brother Lee at their house in Gedling and he gave us £25 and two bottles of beer at the door. Carl used to have all the media workouts and weigh-ins in The old market Square Nottingham city centre which was always a good event as the crowd would be hostile to his opponent. Good carrer considering Carl didn't have the best technique or skills, but won on determination and sheer will to win which is why I was a fan aswell as him being from my home town. Peace out ✌

My favorite moment was the build-up to Andre Ward all the way through. Carl kept trying to press him the whole time in that face-to-face, but got absolutely squashed everytime LOL... The bitterness that stayed with him for years after makes that whole saga even more entertaining, & hilarious. Forget the initial fight, just the whole psychological warfare was amusing.

Second best resume in British boxing history after Lennox Lewis. That's why i will always rate him above Calzaghe, Calzaghe might of been the better techincal boxer but he fought everyone when they where shot to bits, Froch beat everyone in their primes.
@HatmanStrikesBack5 жыл бұрын
That's not true. Calzaghe fought Kessler & Lacy in their primes, and Hopkins was old but went on to get some of his best every wins after the Calzaghe fight. So it was still a very good win. Froch beat Kessler, Taylor, Abraham, & Johnson when they were past their best. Got a very controversial win over a prime Dirrell. His best legit wins were Groves, Pascal, & Bute, & none of them are all time greats. There's no way Froch has the second best resume after Lewis. There's loads of British fighters with better resume's- including AJ by the way.
@HatmanStrikesBack5 жыл бұрын
He beat Kessler! A prime Kessler, and did a much better job than Froch did. Fact. Also beat Lacy in a unification. Ruined him. And the Hopkins win alone is better than anything on Froch's resume. Hopkins schooled Pascal years after he lost to Calzaghe. Beat Pascal in the rematch far more convincingly than a prime Froch did. And again, this was years after the Calzaghe fight.

Warren likes to butcher a surname. To my knowledge, in polish a C is like A 'tch' in pronunciation. Ie Kownacki would be pronounced Kov-natch-ki. Woiceik is pronounced Voy-Chek. Maybe it's different with a h after it.

Can't wait for the bit you say Andre ward owned his ass in face 2 face then schooled him in ring. Finished watching very good review thought the frock fanboys might not agree. I actually liked froch then got to dislike him due to his massive ego and bully boy ways. His a decent pundit though. I prefer cazaghe both as a fighter and person don't care if you battered onion ringed groves in front of 80,000 people at Wembley stadium.

Groves turning the crowd around in the first Froch fight is one of the most remarkable things you’ve ever seen? Hatman where were you on Christmas Day 1985 when a man not only turned the whole crowd around but an entire nation as well? The man laid the foundations for the end of the Cold War with one victory. Groves doesn’t seem quite as remarkable now does he Hatman? Turning a Nottingham crowd around? Try turning the Soviet Union around?

As a career SMW, it would be impossible to meet the demands of GGG asking a 38 year old Froch to boil down to 164lbs. GGG still hasn't had a fight at 168lbs either. Get GGG in with Callum Smith, now that's a fight.

When I first saw him, I wasn't impressed. He seemed flat footed and slow to get his shots off. But against Pascal and Dirrell he proved that he could get off the canvas and come from behind to knock someone out. His mental toughness was his best boxing asset. Good work Hatman!

The funny thing is that even though he was bitter towards Andre Ward, he still had him at the #1 spot in his personal P4P list. So go figure. I do like him as a boxing commentator. The guy certainly knows what he's talking about. And he managed to piss off McGregor's fans with his comments during the Mayweather fight. 😁

He hasn’t got a fucking clue commentating what are you talking about!! Gets names wrong and has zero knowledge of any of the fighters outside the obvious. Great fighter, doesn’t seem to be a boxing fan though. You are absolutely nuts mate.

I remember the Buté fight and the second Kessler fight vividly. Both had me jumping round like a madman. The two fights with groves were also highly entertaining, that’s one thing you can say for froch, he was involved in fights that got your pulses racing. Barring the Ward fight, awesome fighter but an awful style to watch 🥊🥊

Froch turned the uk fight scene around hahah come on pull the other one. Calzaghe was bigger box office than froch , the only reason froch sold out Wembley was because it was all British fight and groves did a great build up , joe sold out the millennium stadium against a contender fighter that's how big joes following was, I was at the jones junior fight in New York and we took over that day it was like being at home. Froch couldn't lace calzaghe boots (fact)

Wayne Evans my issue with Calzaghe was he fought poor over the hill opponents for too long. Remember Clinton Woods? Not fight to lace JC’s gloves, fought top opposition in their prime.

I had Dirrell winning the fight but by only one or two points. The most I could give Froch in that fight was a draw. Awful fight to watch though. I could only give Froch two or three rounds maximum v Ward. Some of the judges scoring in that fight was awful. Ward not only outboxed him but he was the stronger man on the inside and bullied Froch.
@crazycarper72675 жыл бұрын
I'm sure Jean pascal was only training part time for the froch fight because he had another job :-D and Taylor was a middleweight and he struggled :-( I think calzaghe would of smoked him myself.
