Such respect for Usyk, ducked no-one in a career spanning decades in the amateur and professional ranks at multiple weights. He is consummate fighter, levels above and almost machine like in preparation and it shows in the ring. His skill is not just in his boxing and ring-craft which themselves are exemplary, but his ability to read and change his tactics and strategy in every fight to neuter and beat opponents. Quite simply he is a master of his craft, and I salute him for his incredible work ethic this and achievements. If he retired tomorrow I would be happy for him, but he is a warrior and he alone will decide when he lays down his shield.

The Dubois robbed claim is such nonsense. The ref called it a low blow so it was. No one else’s opinion matters. If you are winning the fight you go straight back to the body as soon as Usyk gets up but DDD couldn’t. I rewatched the fight recently and it was one sided I could give Dubois 1-2 rounds out of 9. That’s why Usyk dropped Dubois then stopped him. As it’s a stoppage there is no controversy. I’d rather see Usyk if he has to fight again take on one of the supposedly avoided guys Bakole or Zhang to improve his legacy/resume before he retires. Think he outworks both.

What's all this obsession over 0 losses. There is some beauty in passing the torch to the next big name. In fact this is how a new name becomes big in the first place. That's how the sausage king and AJ started ruling the division. That's how it is, the old king needs to fall in a fight for the new king to rise.

Great comment. You can thank Fraud Mayweather for that mentality and it's a big part of why we've been denied so many big fights that never happened when they should have done. It's also why Fury can't live with the idea that he lost.

Dubois had the best opportunity he could ever have against Usyk when Usyk was down after the low blow. He was facing a fighter who was clearly hurt and could not go on to win. Is Dubois hoping that the same thing happens again but the low blow is called legal? That's grasping at straws.

I think the only thing Usyk needs to factor into his decision to retire or fight on, is how he feels looking back on his life when near the end: I personally don’t think he’s concerned with what we all think of as “legacy” in the eyes of those who follow boxing. He’ll live his life with no regrets and on his terms, even if that means fighting for another five years and losing several times.

There's a big difference between Roy Jones Jr and Oleksander Usyk. Usyk doesn't rely on reflexes and athleticism as much as RJJ did. Usyk is a tough, southpaw warrior who controls the fight tempo, and gets hit but not clean. What Usyk does looks less amazing, but I think is probably harder to beat.

I don’t buy into the fact of his age as much as others these Eastern European fighters have longevity due to the strict life they live he’s 38 now sure but to me looks no older than 34 in boxing terms fit as a flea for 12 rounds never been legitimately down or seriously hurt and still undefeated. Long live the king 👑

It's not necessarily considered the most admirable thing to retire at the top with the championship. Some have the idea that it's respectable for a champ to stay in until someone else takes the title. Lennox Lewis was not admired for retiring after a life and death with Vitali. that he took the 'easy way out' and it was a kind of unsportsmanship. It has not been true all along that when a champ finally lost they tarnished anything but instead were admired for keeping the lineage going and rightfully letting the next upcomer have their rightful place. I dont' get all up in that too much. Sometimes they're just done and simply don't have anything else to do and there is no particular need to 'hand it down' even if they want to do that. I could see Usyk doing it though. IF he realizes his body can't keep doing it anymore AND he see's Daniel is ready to take over the throne - Usyk would fight him and say "If you want to be the next champ you need to take it from me" and Dubois would take it. Usyk leaves the ring free to a massive standing ovation which would include Daniel Dubois.

Would be as close to definitively determining who the P4P 👑 is that you’re likely to get imho. How would it work with the 🇷🇺/ 🇺🇦 situation though? If fighters had to agree to say that they’re competing as individuals and not as representatives of any country - similar to the olympics then I can’t see them doing that. Especially Usyk.

I don't think so, I think he will fight only DD if he needs to. It is because of his family, he often talks how he is tired to be away from his kids, and you can see he is serious about it.

Easy - beat Dubois to become undisputed again. Then face Itauma. If he wins, nice final fight to retire on, if he loses, it's a fascinating and startling changing of the guard, and let's see the big boys come for Itauma, now the youngest unified hw champion in history(?). Edit: paused the video to leave this comment then you said the very same thing immediately afterwards haha.

Dubois rematch or Parker if he wins and Moses, no other fights make sense. Bakole hasn't done enough, he's beat everyone else Parker has beat Zhang and Wilder. Maybe Moses/Clarke would be a good fight as a preliminary

He doesn’t have to but if I was usyk I’d vacate a title let itauma pick it up. In the mean while fight bakole the so called boogeyman of the division. Then fight itauma and call it a day. It’ll be one of those wins that could age like canelo vs Floyd even tho we know that wasn’t the 2018 version of canelo. He’s already beaten Dubois so he’d stack his resume even more in his last year

unnecessary. i dont think theres anything left to prove, nothing else really means anything win or lose. this guy won this generation, clearly, in 2 divisions. i think the best thing for him and for boxing is he puts his feet up, enjoys his health with his family and puts those belts back in the mix. lets see some new champions, lets explore the next generation where we dont already know the final answer.

@doncuadrado8489 No I know hes made millions already but I m just saying, hes in the full top peak position to make 30-50 million a fight, that's a lot money to leave on the table because most even current champions will never come close to making that per fight. But 2 -3 fights is a good choice to net over 150 mill across 3 fights and call it a day.
