The reason why it’s so appealing to listen to songs like this when you’re sad and down, is because even tho it’s a sad song, it’s comforting, and it’s like you’re listening to the only person who can understand you.

we all get sad and down. I hope you're felling better now. Just remember, hard work and productive discomfort kills depression and anxiety. In other words, when you feel like shit, go mow your lawn, do some dishes, or hit the gym.

I used to listen to this song when I was going through dark times (family abuse, self destruction, suicidal thoughts...). I was lost. Now I listen to it and I cry, but of happiness, how much life has given me: a home, a husband a kid and a body and mind stability. This song helped me a lot. I could say this song gave me hopes to keep going. Thanks Morrisey ♥️ Everything will be okay...

You can do anything and everything... never think because life has treated you badly you are shit... that's just circumstances around you, not you. When we are young we have no control over our lives, we just protect ourselves the best we can, we are in survival mode. You have done well, keep on believing in yourself regardless how hard it is. You are right: everything will be fine. Hugs from New Zealand.

A friend of mine sings this whenever he feels lonely, and whenever he does you can always see the tears streaming down his face.. he tries his best not to cry whenever he sings but he just does. Unfortunately a few years ago he committed suicide, I guess he just couldn't hold it in anymore. I guess the weight of his loneliness crushed him to death.

This is one of those songs that only the original vocalist can truly perform and make complete. Because it's theirs in the sense that without their specific voice, it becomes a different song. Similar to Into Dust belonging to Hope Sandoval and No Surprises to Thom Yorke.

I truly do love the Deftones version, but it will never hit the same way this does. Especially in this live version, the despair and emotion in Morissey’s voice is priceless. He sings it so well like he’s hurting from the bottom of his heart, he’s clearly on the verge of crying and I think that’s beautiful. There aren’t many lyrics to the song but then again his voice describes the feeling so well, like truly just wanting one thing and one thing only. I hope everyone gets what they want 'cause this is painful

I hear a lot of negative press about Morrissey these days, but then I see performances like this and I can't help but sympathise with the guy cause he is human. I find more and more as time goes on that I actually relate to him a lot (more so with how he speaks in his early days especially) and as much as I find everyone around me seems to hate him, I don't.

I’m a high schooler currently who found The Smiths through a friend who found them through their toxic ex girlfriend. Their music means the world to me, as I’m a hopeless romantic. I feel seen whenever I listen to The Smiths, especially this song and this performance made me break down crying. Как же мне нравится это исполнение! Его голос, акцент, произношение фраз, поклон под пафосное звучание трубы. И как иначе песня звучит с фразой «Let me have WHO I want». А его улыбка! Как бы иронично замечает «да, возможно, ты всегда будешь одинок», при этом музыка убаюкивает «все, что было не с тобой, было и прошло». И так светло и грустно становится на душе!

Haven’t had a dream in long time. Man it’s sucks when this line relates to you. It felt like every night was a dark abyss until finally I had an amazing dream. My biggest want came true. I had a beautiful wife and newborn and I was holding them both while going to sleep. I never felt such at peace and so much joy. Than I woke up to the reality of being alone. I can lie to friends and family saying I don’t want my own family and all I need is material goods but deep down I really do want a family more than anything but I have a horrible feeling that’s not Gods plan for me. Descubrí esta canción por este tiempo, hace 4 años, a la vez que descubría a una persona que cambiaría mi vida y mi corazón. Hoy, solo me quedan memorias juntos, y esa frase estrujada que solía repetir: "For once in my life, let love who i want...".

Has anybody noticed that the lyrics of this song are a profane prayer? 110 seconds of a perfect tune.

This is peak Morissey in my opinion. He really was at the top of his game in the 2000s. Everything came together

Met a girl a few days ago, lives the other side of the world. Been talking for three days and this could be down to my messed up sleep schedule but I think im in love with her. Hopefully I’ll meet her in person soon. Hopefully soon I’ll have who I want.
