Great version of this Smiths' classic at the last UK-tour-gig in Brighton Centre. "The life I've had, would drive anybody mad" Check my other clips of Morrissey In London and Brighton.

It's interesting to see how the older he gets, the more he changes this song while singing it live. The changes make the song even more desperate-sounding, almost like he's even more and more desperate to get what he wants. He's also pretty emotional during this song, you can almost feel his saddened voice tremble inside of you. Whatever he feels on that stage, you know it's very real.

It's funny how we can see things so differently. I agree that it's a very moving song and a very moving performance but he is 100% performing here. When he hears the crowd singing along he doesn't want them to take over so he ad-libs and changes the pace to get them to back off. There's a hint of a smirk when he realizes the irony in that he is actually getting what he wants this time.

It's so strange how young Morrissey and old Morrissey seem two separate people, it's hard to believe there was a linear transition
@dennislui2938 Жыл бұрын
I have a feeling that, to him, it's far from linear. Life takes us thru strange places.

This is not a song, this is the description of my life. Growing up I was a sad teenager, and people used to tell me "Everything will flow, you will be happy one day, just be patient" I'm almost 40 and nothing changed. I need help, I know I need help but I'm too afraid to admit it

Everytime either him or Marr performs this it just hits on a totally different level. I wonder if either of them regret needing to "get what they want" so to speak and how it drove them apart. It also speaks to us fans because what we want is for the Smiths to reunite (even now that we'd without Andy Rourke). Life's too short.
@craigpegg7858 Жыл бұрын
Yes! People talk about the Beatles etc but to me the Smiths were flawless. Morrissey a genius wordsmith and Marr a genius guitarist and not forgetting Joyce and Rourke. To me the perfect band

I've had a really bad day after 8 years of bad days. I've tried to thrive, but I work with this guy that has OCPD, NPD, and is the most self-righteous, insecure, low-intellect person I've ever met. He makes everything about himself. And part of his pattern that I had forgotten to watch out for, is his desire to feed off me right before I go on vacation. It's like he tries to stock up on his supply by interrupting me every 10 minutes, and assign me chaotic entry level goosechases that can either wait until after vacation, or have been tackled a year ago if only he didn't withhold information. If YOU have OCPD, know that you are zero percent perfect. You are not smarter than everyone, you are freaking average or lower. Especially in awareness. Everyone that succumbs to your entitled control are only there because they feel trapped and traumatized. They would leave you in a heartbeat if they won the lottery. Stop thinking you are more important than literally anyone else. THAT is the type of exhaustion I hear in this song. I'm trying to mind my own business, succeed through skill growth and helping others, and yet I'm stuck behind a wall of a disordered person that doesn't think about anyone but themself.
