I used to love visiting Thaxted, as a kid in the 1950's, when I spent all my school holidays with my grandparents, who lived in Thaxted Road, Saffron Walden, nextdoor to Walden Dairies.

I must have driven through Thaxted dozens and dozens of times over the years , but not stopped very often. When I was a youngster we camped on what is now a playing field, and walked into the town to watch the Morris dancers. On another occasion some years ago, the civil war re-enactors were there, with displays in various parts of the town. There's a pub opposite the church, which does very nice meals.

A great walking tour Chris, you were born for this 😊👍👍 I went to some antique markets in Thaxted, great fun 😊 Holst composed “The Planets”, a marvelous piece which many films have used the music too. He was indeed English born but got his Germanic name from his grandfather 😉

Good show Chris, bravo. I normally watch for the paranormal element but you have hit upon another interest. I like visiting old places for their ghost stories and folklore but do find now that a healthy interest in English architecture and the halcyon way of life has its own unique appeal. Thanks for capturing this in this wonderful film. Keep it up chum.

I was in the Thaxted Carnival back in the 70s and went back for a visit last year. It is still as lovely, but unfortunately the airplanes spoil it now!

I just saw 'Thaxted' on a flight tracker, and thought the name is rather ugly - i was curious to learn more, it's a lovely village. Thank you for the tour, i just wanted to say, try filming in 60 frames per second so your pan shots have less judder.
