Yeah what’s wrong? I don’t know how this works. Can you explain why most of her great songs, especially recent ones basically don’t get any attention from the general public? In my opinion Gaga is the G.O.A.T. But it’s like her incredible art just isn’t reaching people that don’t already love and follow her…. :/ is it just bad marketing from her and her team?
@FerrerZorola2 ай бұрын
@@_HigherSelf_bad marketing + it’s not cool to like her compared to people like Taylor Swift or Beyoncé because Lady Gaga has always presented herself as kind of a left field freak + she’s 38 and the music business is incredibly ageist

Very true. Hooooowwwever ..... I've heard one or two times where I actually felt like she worked it to her advantage by letting it do impossible things with her voice (this is not one of those times, lol). I think it's a skill like using a microphone correctly, but very very few people have it and can use it live. I truly don't think she does it often.

kimmel might be tuning his guests’ musical numbers, but when gaga uses autotune, it’s very nostalgic because she uses it for character purposes. it’s almost like two different voice tracks going together for me-the real her and the character-and if you pay close attention to the lyrics, she’s actually singing about that. btw, if you hate live tuning, don’t ever listen to her singing speechless live on mtv ama. i still don’t get it; it exists only tuned, and i still don’t know if it aired like that because i wasn’t watching it live.

1:33 if you want to skip the absolutely unnecessary rant on the use of smoothing, that hijacks what is otherwise a spectacular analysis. Really enjoyed the technical on producing the fry in a healthy way. Re: the smoothing... That belongs in its own video about Kimmel and other shows that frequently have live acts using it. I think Lady Gaga of all people has proven herself enough and been vocal enough about lip syncing. Even if this were her choice (highly doubtful), i wouldnt hate it. Now if you wanna talk her sound design, fair. The use of what damn near sounds like a shotgun mic is so effective in this small space. Lets her move to her musicians without getting drowned out. Also helps to keep the horn and sax low. For once they dont have the melody and have to play dooowwwn.

As a fan of Gaga, I agree there's probably autothune or at least back vocals to support her voice. Maybe she wanted to be sure to not miss a note or maybe it was to make "cristallic" effects especially at this moment 9:28 or 9:55 . Anyway, you're right her voice is connected to the melody. I love this performance but yeah the vocal correction bother me a bit. I really liked her last Jazz Vegas performances, this was pure accoustic and her vocals were amazing. :D

Unfortunately, a lot of these tv shows will tune the artist’s performance as just a standard thing they do. I don’t think they get permission from the artists. So, likely, Gaga had nothing to do with it.

I don't understand the reasoning behind the timing of Lady Gaga's song releases. First there was her duet with Bruna Mars "Die with a Smile" which deservedly got nominated for 2 Grammy awards. But then she releases "Joker" music and "Happy Mistake" could have easily been nominated for "Song of the Year" or "Best Pop recording" but wasn't. Then a couple of weeks later around Halloween, we get "Disease" which fit the vibes of Halloween. But now that "Disease" is catching some attention - it's the "Holiday Season". Radio stations are playing Christmas music - not "Disease and no Grammy nominations either. To me, a serious misjudgment on Gaga's part.

@@normandyeuropa Kind of reminds me when she released "Stupid Love" way ahead of the release of "Chromatica". I can't believe that she's using autotune. There's a lot going on here with reverb or delay or just the room acoustics on her vocals. You can hear it right at the end when she does that long descending run, and the backing music goes away. There are subtle reverberations on her vocal that are floating around in the background that almost sound more like delay. But with all the effects available today it's really impossible to tell what a "live" performance even means. Not that I'm being critical of her performance here it's just that if you weren't present in the space where the performance took place then we're really not listening to the real thing. We are listening to a KZbin video. That being said this performance is really a masterpiece but there's no substitute for going to see performers live and those who got to go to this performance will have a memory to last a lifetime.

Always like your reviews. Have to say, I didn't hear anything hinky in terms of pitch correction. Pitch correction is very hard to do in a live performance. It would really stand out and to me there was nothing there. Now the Kimmel engineer may have tweaked it for KZbin. I didn't hear the original broadcast so I don't know. Also, the show itself is taped and aired "live" so some skullduggery may have occurred post production. In any case, she's an amazing artist and that was a great performance.
