I'm sorry the video's, like, an hour long. I still can't believe I managed to record 2 hours of improvised video and then edit it until 5 AM in the same day. Hope you find this informative (or at least as good background noise)
I'm serious about it scratching my Cintiq, by the way. Don't put this thing on anything soft or valuable.

Shouldn’t it have included rubber pads for the bottom in the box?

I just noticed this earlier today when I was tidying up, there *is* in fact a small sheet of 8 round non-slip padding included with the key remover, along with one spare red keyswitch and a red nib for a system button. To be honest, I thought it was just cardboard for keeping the bag from folding.

You know this is a real gamer review when WASD is worn off the keyboard and all the other buttons look relatively fine.

so true, but on the other hand I can't stress this enough, getting a good keyboard/keycaps is a game changer

Thanks for the review. I'm getting this leverless delivered next week. I tend to hit 421S a lot in GG+R so I'm hoping it will be easier to do with large leverless buttons, since I have big hands. Btw I heard the best way to prevent carpal tunnel on keyboard and leverless is to play with the controller in your lap and float the wrists without resting the palms down at all, with the fingertips lightly resting on the buttons for support (pianist style). So I tried it with my keyboard for a month and I don't get wrist pain at all, it seems to work. I play up to 3 hours at a time and do take breaks and stop when I feel my forearms get a bit tense. I also stretch my fingers before and after.

the controller has a keyboard mode btw! It uses an open source chip thingy called the gp2040ce, and it comes with a feature where you can switch between x-input mode, keyboard mode, d-input mode, ps4 compat mode, ps5 and an passthrough mode. If you have an appropriate dongle, you can do use passthrough mode to play ps5 games on the ps5. There is also a mode that makes the buttons simulate the analog stick instead of the dpad (if you feel like doing that). source: I have another haute42 pad :) Also I subscribed bc I wanna see more of your art :D

The ring finger + middle finger problem is why I actually double them up and use them both to press down and use my pinky to press left. It's still not a very strong finger, so I also bind left to the right side button below the main 8 buttons so I have easier access to P2 DPs and the like.

I didn't watch the whole video, but I do have a few general notes and tips in response to the bits I saw. I have the T16 and a standard FightBox, but I'm newer to leverless whereas I've spent years on arcade sticks. Your issue with the "double presses" aren't unique to leverless, and actually if you just drop down your index finger onto the bottom row for those inputs, it will be way easier and natural. I only play SF6 though, which only really requires double presses on the first two columns (grab and Parry), so I can't speak on double presses on the third or fourth columns. Now here's a tip on left hand dexterity that I haven't really seen anyone bring up. QCB and HCB motions (1P side) are harder as you mentioned because of our hand muscles. To work around this, instead of your traditional "pressing" motion where it's like an individual finger tap, curl your fingers and keep them stiff, then "roll" your hand to the left. Imagine using your left hand to turn a door knob counter-clockwise - not to the same degree but it's a similar rolling/rotating motion. Use that motion plus your stiff fingers to generate the button presses. For QCB and Left-down-left DP inputs, you can alternatively just shift your index finger to the down button, but I have found it can sometimes be too slow and it's a bit hard to be aware of this while moving back and forth. I mostly use it during combos where I have time to prepare. The last tip I have is pretty unique, and it's about DOUBLE QCB (1P side), like for Supers in SF6. If you have time and are comfortable, you can shift your index finger to the down button like I said before. On one with extra buttons like the T16 however, you have another option. I actually ended up mapping the bottom left thumb button to a second Down input for this specific scenario. I do the first QCB using my middle finger > ring finger (which is standard position), then I press the bottom left thumb button > ring finger for the second QCB input. Now I don't compete, so I have no clue if this layout is tournament legal, but it may help some casual players out.

That temple of time OST though, brings back memories. Sadly i refuse to touch anything with Nexon's fingerprint on it. I'm still debating if i'm gonna buy a Haute T16 / M+ or a Mavercade Keepbrawler04. About your downside of the left hand finger dexterity; it's times like these i'm glad to be lefthanded, i don't have that issue ;) To balance it out i have a non-dominant hand operating the mouse , which is all things considered pretty accurate, but i can't make complex precise shapes. No writing in paint for me.

Nice video! I was also wondering how were you able to have your Rgb layout like that on your controller? Is that something that’s done through the program?

yes, you will have to enter the customization mode to do it. One thing that confused me is that even after setting the colours, you need to swap to that preset by pressing back+start+X or A

I love the T16. I first thought it was a waste of money, cause I'm used to play with the keyboard and at first felt limited button-wise. But man, if you get used to it, the T16 rocks. I can only speak for myself, but I definitly play better than with the keyboard (Tekken 8 atm). I dont know what exactly makes the difference, but everything feels smoother. Might be the good responsivness in combination with the bigger buttons (compared to the keyboard).

You can also work around the whole ring finger moving along with the middle finger by using your pinky instead as the "left" button. That's ofc psychopath behavior but possible work around.

You may want to try the haute mini or b16 for a keyboard like
@medicami

I did consider it. I already spent a lot on the T16 and I have a keyboard which I already use to play. The big reason I wanted the T16 was just for more space to put art on it lol.

@medicami
@medicami 5 ай бұрын
As far as I know, for a PS4 it should just work with the right startup mode. For PS5 you'll need an adapter like a Brook Wingman. I play on PC, so I can't say with 100% certainty what works and what doesn't.

Slash is the best Guilty Gear Strive May player by far, and easily among the top 20 or 30 Strive players in the world. He exclusively plays with a regular PS4 / PS5 controller and only uses the left joystick for movement. It’s all about personal preference. I don’t know how he does it, but there’s a control scheme for everyone.
