I've played a lot PC games were space bar was the jump button. So using my thumb for jump was a very easy transition from pad to hitbox.

I don't play and don't plan to play on hitbox, but this has been really insightful to gain knowledge on what a hitbox player may do and try to be ready for it. I think over time results between hitbox and other controllers will tend to even up. What gives hitbox players an edge right now is that stick and pad players are mostly in denial and don't seek knowledge on strategies based on hitbox and how players face certain situations.

Great video as I'm working on learning how to use a hitbox efficiently. The input motions toward the end was the most useful section for me. The part that was a little difficult was Advanced Movement 13:30 because I am unfamiliar with what the combo inputs actually are and what the problem actually is. I had to watch that section several times to understand what needed to be done before I could really understand how the problem manifests. I think what would have been helpful is showing the normal input for what the combo string is then contrasting it by showing where the forward is injected to prevent the problem. Thanks for putting this together!

The actual/original "tiger knee" input from SF2 Sagat you supposed to hit up-forward and kick at the same time so that you are hitting the button before the character actually jump and leave ground. Therefore for moves like Zangief's 360 where you are not trying to do an instead air command you should just hit the jump and punch button at the same time without plinking. The plinking is what made the 360 inconsistent because you may have hit the punch button after he's already considered off ground.

Thumb being up will make complete sense in my brain as a longtime PC player of various genres. I've been hitting space to jump for 25 years, I'm sure hitting a button in relatively the same spot will feel extremely natural to me :P

Awesome video! A few extra thoughts: I highly recommend loading up Blazblue Central Fiction and practicing Gad Leis on Relius in order to tighten up your half circles. That was the move that made me realize i was doing them too fast and dropping the 2. KOF is good as well, as you mentioned! Because you can continue to hold down, and then tap up, it makes flash kicks super easy. I main Venom in ACPR and this makes doing successive carcass raids super easy once you get the timing down! DBC loops however (which require successive 2S into 421S into 2S into 421S are a real work out for your ring finger on the left side though! Might be a good way to build up the muscles unless you are a pianist. XD. Another fun way to practice whacky motions on your hit box is to give Goldlewis a try in Strive and learn all of the Behemoth Typhoons!

Not really. You don't have to hit the diagonals in the SPD input. So long as you hit the four cardinal directions, you get the ability. I don't think you even need to hit them in order because the game will just check for the 4 directions

Awesome vid thank you. Proud new HB Branded owner here. Funny how you mentioned the Jump button would be a hard adjustment. It wasn't for me, I think it's because thousands of hours playing MMO'S. Pressing a jump button is built into my brain so I took to it naturally with the HB LOL.

I thought DS4 could use analogue + dpad to do opposite direction imputs, but it isnt considered practical at all. So Cheatbox still wins. I have always found that PC players adapt to up on the thumb easy is because spacebar is jump in most Keyboard/Mouse games. Your video's are very high quality and some elements remind me of Core-A-Gaming. Great work!

When I first tried a keyboard with hitbox layout, the movement was very intuitive but the attack button layout was so difficult I couldn't get over it. Using my thumb for everything was so easy on pad. Might try again some day

Hello, the only issue i have on hitbox is for things like half circle forward and thats because as you said in the video im going too fast so the last input before the forward doesnt get read hence the super is not coming out , this of course only happens either on wake up or reaction since i have to get it out fast - i have difficulties slowing down could whilst doing the input , can you tell me what helped you the most to get used to that timing? Is doing supers on wake up or whilst defending something you would consider a disadvantage on hitbox? The video was pretty good ty

Half circles are gonna be the death of me. I just lazy mode it and slide my index finger across 6 2 and 4 and it works pretty well. It's a little more difficult for some supers though.
