Same here! I am a non-muslim colored skinned woman of faith, and this message speaks right to my heart. I headcover only when I pray. But I’ve recently considered doing it permanently. At the end of the day, the commandment of God is all that matters. Thank you, thank you 🙏 ❤️

Holy shit, I'm an atheist and now I want to wear Hijab because of this video. I like covering up a lot in general and often wear hats or hoodies because it makes me feel safe. I'm also a pretty hardcore feminist and can relate so much to how you feel about Hijab. It just makes is so well known to the entire world that you are a woman not to be objectified but to be taken seriously as an independent person.

I am not Muslim but Christian. I head cover and get the same problems. I love your talk. This is so encouraging. I have lost friends for following God in this. Its sad because it is our heritage. There is power in the head covering 1Cor 11. God bless you as you encourage women to stand for their faith. Praying that the Muslim and Christians can get along and live in ture peace. It can be done.

As a non Muslim, when I see women in their hijab, I admire them. Courage and strength. To me you're very brave, considering the current political climate. Being of color, (copper colored) Hebrew Israelite, and having your hair covered in a scarf, sometimes people will mistake for being a Muslim, i.e. stares, jeers, or just curious questions. They don't get nervous til the see the draping (scarf around head) seems like.Thankfully, Western society has gotten use to women of color, wearing African type head wraps. I enjoy seeing multitudes of cultures, women wearing beautiful headwraps, just so stylish, yet reverent. I must admit however, the full burka situation is a little..scary. Nevertheless, I am respectful if I happen to see. But I love the hijab, and other headwraps. Stand strong. I try to smile at a Muslim women when I see them. Solidarity to you my sisters.

Wearing hijab definitely makes me feel scrutinized in public - but I think that's a good thing! I should be trying daily to elevate my character and show good manners. I work in mental health and I get questions from both kids and adults about why I wear "that thing on my head." I simply say "It helps me stop and think so I can make good choices." Everyone has just been like "Oh, ok. Cool." Thank you for all the work you do. Your videos and IG have helped me see that I can dress modestly with hijab and still look professional and polished. It's made being a new Muslim easier. Jazakallah khair

I mean, women in the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) weren't exactly living in a utopian society where everything was perfect and everyone loved Muslims. There were so many haters, so many people who wanted to harm any and all Muslims. Hijab was required by Allah (subhanahu wa ta3alah) during that time. Allah knows what's best for us despite what we think.

Masha Allah sister, this is so true. I never thought about it this way, Subhanallah! There were and there will never be a time when it is an ideal utopia where Muslims and hijab are accepted by every single person. The early Muslims had it much worse yet they still wrap their hijabs when Allah commanded them to do so, knowing fully that by doing so they will be easy to identify as women of faith.

I just want to add for the sisters who are struggling with feeling judgement or isolation that they shouldn't feel like these impulses are only unique to them. Sometimes it feels like nobody else understands where you're coming from and it can be hard especially if you are still striving for self actualization and confidence when people around you seem to have it all together. Know that we all deal with days when we don't have it all together and might feel insecure in our commitment but we have to take strength in the fact that we are part of a sisterhood. It's important to reach out and confide in others - never feel like you'll be judged for your struggle. Mel your message is so important: use this clip as a way to build up your feelings of self esteem and power. Sister you are loved and you are part of a group of amazing women the world over who contribute to their societies and are valued regardless of their faith. Never worry about embarrassing your children- you are the source of their strength and their best example. Meet that ignorance and hate with love and a smile- explain to them that people are afraid and misinformed and it's their job to be the best example for others as well. Being representatives of our Ummah is a big responsibility but know that your sacrifice is a beautiful example for your kids and will mould their mentality. Last night the President stood in front of the world and presented a message of respect and commitment to our mutual values and proclaimed a woman to be the most qualified person to take this vision forward. He was speaking to and about the women of our Ummah as well MashaAllah.

I am a christian Hijabi, I wear it off and on interchangably between a triangle veil and the Hijab. I work in a customer service job for a grocery store and something I have noticed is that when I wear my Hijab to work I do get customers who will deliberately move from my line and go to another coworkers line only after they see the headscarf. I have also gotten Muslim men who would say a greeting to me in a language I did not recognize and then I had to awkwardly explain I am Christian and not Muslim and apologize for the awkwardness/confusion. A non-Muslim woman wearing the Hijab isn't as well known or accepted as it needs to be. Its also upsetting how Hijabis get very discriminated against due to peoples ignorance. Its really sad.

As a Catholic. I see Islamic women, and my first thought is how strong and beautiful they are ... personally, I want to cover myself, want the world to see me as a follower of God, pious, respectful, but empowered. As my family is Italian, they were also discriminated against from the time they came here in the 1910's, all the way until the 80s, so loads of us from different races, cultures, colors, faiths, understand what its like to not be wanted. But you know, I'd rather be shunned or laughed covered up, then gaucked at and disrespected for wearing what seems to be the norm nowadays. So, my sisters in all faiths, all walks of life, be proud of who you are! And, if I see a sister being bullied.... well, this 6'0 woman has your back!!! ❤

I'm not a Muslim, heck I'm the bare minimal Christian if I had to label my faith. I'm scared to wear the head covering though, because I live with xenophobic people. I'm not afraid of people, literal strangers, staring at me because they already do for other reasons. I'm scared of the people I live with, because they are very all or nothing, and often insult me for the things I like or do. They often say that I am strange or weird and one of them goes out of his way to make me feel inferior and less than a person. He even goes as far as to use the word "woman" as an insult and likes going after my gender identity. I want to wear the hijab for modesty and security, not because of my faith, but I don't want to give this horrid man another reason to belittle me
