i was born in an arab country and im not muslim but we would visit mosques and when we went inside( they were not praying when we went inside) they gave us the full outfit including a hijab and it was great! and at school we would have a day when everyone wore arab clothes no matter if you were muslim or not so i had to buy hijabs and stuff and i miss living there.

I am a Christian and I wear a headscarf, thank you for making this video and for just being informed. A lot of people have tried to argue with me that Christian women or Jewish women have never covered their heads.... anyways you seem to be a good person and a good hearted person, thanks for being informed and spreading cooperation between faiths. Love your videos.

Kaylee Johnson I’m the same way. I’m a Christian and I’ve always wanted to wear a hijab, but my parents are strict Christian and wouldn’t let me. I tried it on today to test how my parents would react and my dad got mad and my mom asked why I was dressed like that. My parents both were mad so I took it off :(

Do what you want; religions don't own head coverings. I like to wear head coverings in different styles because it's practical for protection from the sun and elements, and for being pretty and put-together more than a couple days after washing hair since I don't like to wash it too often.

Every since I was a young girl I have found the hijab beautiful. Women who I saw wearing it always seemed so pure inside and out to me. A few years back when I was in highschool I decided it was something I wanted to start wearing because the modesty that it represented was something that spoke to me. I was ridiculed for wearing it. I was told I was being disrespectful to muslim women. As a result I stopped wearing it. It hurt to stop because it really did make me feel protected and it made me feel so beautiful. This video made a huge difference to me. I think I am going to pull out my hijabs again. Thank you for inspiring me and reassuring me that it is okay for me to wear the hijab.

Truly Christianity has more reasons to veil than Islam but many rebel against it. Spiritually the veil shows the covering of a woman's hair or glory which Jesus did when he was veiled in flesh to hide his glory. Moses veiled his face when among the children of Israel so they could not see the glory but removed it when he went up on the mountain to talk to God. In like manner we see the perfect example of a prophet like unto Moses when Jesus took Peter, James and John up on the mountain and the veil of his flesh was removed as he was transfigured and all three beheld the glory of God. The veil is also signifies the covering of the Spirit of God upon the saints and church as in Isaiah 30. The veil is removed for the test of jealousies and judgment begins in the house of God. many women do not realize that when they remove the veil they have no covering for their sin before their jealous God and Husband Jesus. Also, Rebecca veiled herself to meet Isaac and he being the child of promise is an example of Jesus. When Christian women expect to meet Jesus in a service to hear from him it is disrespectful for them to meet him unveiled. Not only in scriptures, but in deeper judgments women are to veil and we have more reasons than Islam. This is why I do respect the women who have veiled and have no desire to be as men. That pride which makes women want to be as men forsakes the important spiritual similitude of the saints being covered by the Spirit of God and women being created as a similitude of the bride of Christ, which are the words of Adam which the apostle Paul explained in Ephesians 5: 31, 32. Whether Niqab, Hijab, Chador, Burka, or chapel veil, they are all important in women being that example of the bride of Christ following Mary's example. If only more women would see this and return to veiling it would please God. May God bless.

People stopped covering their hair in the 1960's and because us younger generation no idea that Christians are supposed to cover we end up thinking we don't need to when back then people cover because the Bible says so. I was also shocked when I saw a cell group friend wore Muslim wear on daily basis and had to Google I felt we not been taught this in Sunday school to cover too it was shocking. Since we are from Singapore where muslim are not uncommon and not likely to wear headscarf and more likely to wear hijab instead.

I have worn a veil for the past 2-3 years, in the form of a bandana in a triangle shape, but as of late I have felt drawn to wear a Hijab because I feel uncomfortable with my hair being shown when the triangle end of the veil is blown up by the wind. It makes me feel uncomfortable and exposed. So this message is incredibly important to hear. Thank you for sharing sister. It is nice to know that Christians do wear the Hijab style and it isn't exclusive to Muslim women.

I'm Christian, live in Canada, and I head cover. I think it's wonderful. Personally the hijab doesn't suit me, I prefer using bandannas or using scarves to make jewish tichels using wrapunzel's styles. I think that the western church made a big mistake abandoning it. It's still commanded in Corinthians 9 and it's sad that many of my sisters disregard it.

My colleagues & I were discussing how, even in a secular context, wearing head & face coverings (for weather reasons, as well as health - I recently discovered how warm a headscarf is vs hat) makes us feel safe psychologically. And, importantly, we didn't feel more protected by men or elders, but by our own ability to set boundaries. We weren't ever "against" head or face coverings, but we had failed to see them in a historical/anthropological context & had missed a really helpful, practical, self-empowering tradition for anyone wanting warmth & stronger boundaries with strangers. We'll be continuing these practices long after the pandemic ends.

@Mina Mina you are scaring the western modern world with misinformation. From your look, you are not a teenager, you should attempt more responsibility in what you are teaching. Women DO and HAVE BEEN WEARING scarves tied similarly as the way you do, or tied any other way....... but for FASHION, keep the wind from their head or simply for plain fun... not for any of the reasons you are giving for yourself. You do not mention any of these reasons, is it that you are attempting to change a piece of UNIVERSAL fashion and make it something else (I will not mention here) as others are doing?

claire dionne - you are incorrect. It doesn’t take much research to verify what she is saying to be true. The Bible, Talmud, early Christian church fathers, art and historical practice all confirm that headcovering is an abrahamic tradition thousands of years old. 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 if you are Christian. Plenty of verifiable information for Jews as well.

@@veronicav575 yes we know, but claire is correct too. It is used as fashion, fun, and mainly convenience to keep hair back. You should know how it is to be a woman keeping hair back, as simple as that. Also no one is time travelling here, that's like saying wearing a bracelet evolved from some seventeen step ritual. And? It has nothing to do with that nor is it owed to that. Pets cats used to be used to eat rats. should i only have a cat to get rid of rats? Dumb

I was raised Christian, no Christians I know wear headscarves, and I've started playing around with a headscarf in the safety and privacy of my own home. I mostly started doing it because I've been washing my hair less often and want to cover it up when it's "dirty". I could not predict the feeling of safety that comes over me when I'm wearing it! It's so pretty and elegant, too. I wore it outside the house when I was accepting my grocery delivery, and the men hanging out across the street did not pay attention to me the way that men usually do when they see me. It was an interesting experience. Btw, I don't wear it in the Muslim style, more like an oversized twice-knotted bandana look.

I have a question. There are people with certain pathologies that makes patients loose their hair, specially cancer patients, where they feel insecure and depressed. Some of them are not Muslim nor follow a determined faith. Is it alright to prescribe hijab usage as a confidence booster, regardless of them following a certain faith or not believing at all?
@EnJoyLaPrimavera
@EnJoyLaPrimavera 6 жыл бұрын
If it gives women (or men) confidence to cover up their heads when they might be loosing hair/bald due to illness, of course that would work! It is not only about modesty but also about feeling confident just the way you are. I know plenty of people who have had cancer and who wore head covering because of it (like caps, scarfs, beanies). However it depends on the patient themselves if they like it or not. But as you can see in the comment section here, many women especially really feel more confident because then they feel not judged about their beauty anymore, but because of who they are. Also agnosts, atheists or people from other religions such as judaism or christianity.

It's alright. Hijab is not an Islamic copyright. I often joke with my muslim girl friends that they cover their head because they are bald. Not that I would actually joke about it with actual cancer patients. I know my friends aren't bald.

Hi, Melanie! This is the first time I watch one of your videos and I loved it. Thanks for the information. Just a question, I'm Christian, I had never worn a hijab, but I'm travelling to Dubai and surroundings next month. I always bring home souvenirs and things that are useful to me here where I live (I mean, not just ornaments to put on a shelf), and of course I'd love to buy a hijab. My question: is it offensive if I wear it as a normal scarf? Nobody will notice it in my country but will they notice I'm wearing a hijab in my neck in a muslim country? Will that be disrespectful for muslim people? Again, thanks for the video. New suscriber here!!! :-D

Walk into any store where you live and buy one you don't need yo wait till you travel to Dubai. I'm my orthodox Christian culture women are required to wear head wear, I don't wear one every day but I do for church and special occasions. Hijab isnt Islamic it's for everyone who wish to wear it, religious or not!!

I asked a muslim friend of mine to buy me a headscarf after I gave away my own to some muslim refugees/friends. I've been in Syria and Turkey and found muslims are really happy if you try to respect their culture (I for example put on long clothes and took a scarf with me which I put on my head before I went to visit a mosque on holidays there). I now have a beautiful headscarf here which I often wear as a scarf around my neck. My muslim friend who gave it to me as a christmas present (funny right ;-) ) says it is very nice :) I am christian by the way and always found headscarfs a very interesting topic.

mykia dozier Jehovah witnesses always dress modestly anyway, if you just want to add a head scarf then just go out and buy one or if you have a scarf at home wear it as a head cover.

mykia dozier Yes! You wear your hijab and be proud! Hijab has nothing to do with a persons faith! Its what makes you happy and proud! Wear your hijab anytime that you feel like wearing it! Your Pleasing God not others ☺

I'm a follower of Jesus and I wear HIjab. I started 1.5 years ago. My dad, sister and brother in law have been very cruel to me because of my wearing the hijab/head covering. Frankly I don't care because I know the Bible commands women to cover their heads fully in public. I don't believe wearing a hat can satisfy the command as it does not fully cover the neck area. Most people think I am a muslim because Christian women are so very immodestly dressed in our day. Your family may not accept you, but God will be pleased with you!

Miranda Hi. I think the headscarf is good. But understand that the Bible says we should pray with our head covered and when prophesying

@@setfreemissI used to give way because my mother-in-law did not like the idea. I am far past that point now. I have to do what I feel is best for me. I think that you have made a similar decision, yes? I remember in Lutheran school they had paintingsofd scenes from the Bible and the women always had a head covering.

I have a bunch of scarves and need to start wearing them more often. I love the idea of covering your head, especially with something as pretty as the hijab you are wearing.

Could I still wear the hijab if I don't believe in religion? I am very spiritual to God, I go to church, i pray, and read the bible. I am spiritual, and love talking to god, but do I have to be religious to wear a hijab? Can I just be spiritual?
