The sad thing is, controversy sells - so Tommy is smart to keep Ben on. It creates engagement; even if it's negative, it helps with views and pushes to new audiences (any engagement with the video), for example, the LEN spam etc. It is what it is, but he really is unbearable, as everyone knows. I do think Ben needs to get a proper reality check from Tommy. He NEEDS to understand that his opinion, among the other co-hosts, is undeniably the least important. We're all here to listen to some of the greatest players of all time give us their takes and insights, but all Ben does is jump in and act like we care what he says. It's so strange and deluded…. Like at least have manners? Don’t interrupt an all timer to give your pointless take? It's sad that this may come across as hate, but it's truly not. This is such a wildly poor take I don't even know where to start. Ben offers something to the show that NONE of the other hosts can offer, getting an insight into the business/production side of the league is so much more interesting than listening to 4 ex-pro's talk about routes on a map that is unanimously hated. I agree that Tommy should deffo set the record straight with some of the interrupting but claiming he 'ruins' the show when you're back every episode to watch and commenting about him is ironically hilarious. To your last point, SOME PEOPLE are tuning in for EVERYONES takes...the league and this podcast is about more than just the ex-players takes...they all bring something to the show, and to be clear this show would be significantly less interesting and informative if you take Ben out of it. Guy gets so much unnecessary hate from people that know absolutely nothing about half the things he's talking about.
