@@albertodelrio5966 1) I had lunch or I ate lunch ( simple past) though latter sentence sounds weird therefore we write it as the former sentence. 2) I had had lunch ( past perfect)

This is one of those things you learn subconsciously as a native speaker. Most people couldn't explain it well if you asked why they said that in that way. Kudos to you! You are probably teaching native speakers why they do that, too.

e.g. 1. He is sneezing again so I think he has had a cold. 2. He had had the cake before I reached. 3. They already had had the cake by the time I reached. 4. I have had four flats across India in last 5 years. Ganesh sir... Let me know if they all are correct or not..

They are all grammatically correct, but a couple of suggestions: (1) "He keeps sneezing" is better (2&3) It's better to say "had eaten" here because you want to focus on the fact that the cake is gone. But "had had" is also correct.

Yeah you can use I have eaten my lunch have had /has had/ had had is used to shorten the sentence which native speaker use and now it became common

It means that there is no warning (before it happened) of the Tsunami, and the Tsunami already happened. Im learning too.. so others please correct me.

It means communities in Thailand and Indonesia had got no warning of the tsunami. First "had" shows tense of the sentence that event happened in past. Second "had" shows possession..like i got no information or i had no information. I hope it will help u a lil bit in understanding the concept.

i have come across these sets of words in newspaper, felt confusing but u made it very clear sir. In the end you pronounced the sentences in shortened form which is easily understood. Thank you very much
