I bought Vintner’s Daughter after saving up money on the side for three months. I fell for it because of this whole natural claim and some bloggers were also claiming it would be great for acne. Back then I suffered from regular acne and monthly cysts. I really thought this would be my saving grace for my skin. Oh how wrong was i, it gave me cystic acne all through my cheeks in two days of use. I was so adamant that it couldn’t have been this oil because it’s supposed to be good and it was so expensive. After using half of the bottle my skin had never looked worse. I had to take painkillers during the day just so I could smile. Looking back at it now that I can read ingredient list I would never put a drop of Vintner’s Daughter on my skin!!! it’s people like you Nadine that I really truly have to thank for your education. Now I am living my life with my head up acne free after going fragrance and essential oil free. Thankyou

Catnip 4 lucky nothing happened to you but I know many people who’s skin doesn’t react with fragrant oils. But prolonged use can cause problems in the future. There is just so many research based good for your skin ingredients in the market I just find fragrant oils to be pointless. But vintners daughter does smell divine 😂

Kiki Kiki I’m so sorry you paid that obscene amount of money for such awful, painful acne and cysts that could have easily left scars on your face!! I completely agree with you the best thing I learned and did for my skin was to avoid all fragrance in everyone of my skin products. This is especially important for the long term health and look of the skin, Even if you do not happen to see a reaction today the skin is aggravated by fragrance which in turn continues to age the skin more over time. From cleanser to actives to foundation I use nothing with any scent. This makes it more difficult to navigate and find products I love... especially shopping online...but believe me the extra time spent searching for alternative products is worth the long term positive effect on the skin. I hope others who do not already know about the effects of fragrances read our findings and can benefit from them!! ❤️

Erin Mc Thankyou for your message I absolutely agree! 💕 being a person who is between Fitzpatrick 3/4 my pigmentation was literally black/purple while my skin tone is of a lighter tan ...and took me nearly 1.5 years to clear up. I hope people can see this maybe there’s someone out there who is suffering from bad skin but doesn’t have the money to see a dermatologist or feel that they can’t have good skin because they aren’t buying these expensive skincare is just false! It’s 2020 good/affordable skincare is a human right 💕

I have oily skin that is prone to breakouts. No matter how “clean” an oil may be, it will still clog my pores. I had sworn off oils. Cut to years later, I end up with a moisturizer on my skin that contains plum seed oil as a result of an over zealous Sephora employee. I thought, great, I’m going to pay for that later. But that night when I cleansed, there were no clogged pores. I thought I would give this oil a try and I, glad I did because it’s moisturizing and it does NOT clog my pores. Shocking. I don’t understand why I don’t see products with it. Only one, but it’s $$$$ like Vinter’s Daughter. I use one found on Amazon for cheap.

As a qualified aromatherapist, agreed that floral and other plant essential oils can sensitise skin, so not great for reactive, sensitive skins. Carrier or base oils, however, can be amazing for most skins! For those with blemish, spot-prone or sensitve skins, look for oils with low comedogenic rating, e.g. jojoba (which is actually a plant wax), grapeseed, hemp, apricot kernal, or hazelnut oil. You only need a few drops (3-4) to moisturise a face or use as a serum or to buffer retinols or calm irritation etc. I have really sensitive, reactive, spot prone skin which scars easily, and I use my own concoction of Hemp, jojoba and Tamanu with a few drops of Helichysum (Everlasting/Immortelle essential oil), which is reknowned to sooth and heal skin, and my skin LOVES it. Scarring and blemishes are diminished. People rave about V.Daughter etc. but I believe their mixture with all the fragranced essential oil, while they may make the oil smell lovely, is too much for sensitive, spot prone skin. Just my opinion, btw.

I am so pleased you talked about fragrance in products. I have severe allergies to fragrance, natural or chemical. Skin rashes, facial swelling etc. I take 4 different allergy medications a day, one specifically for hives. I also carry an inhaler and epi pen. I have noticed that there is more and more fragrance being added to cleaning products, laundry products to extend scent etc. I even react to some toilet papers, I know sounds ridiculous but true. I really like that when I am watching videos people add in fragrance free products. I love your reviews!

Yes, I love Vintner's Daughter. I've been using it for a couple of years, I like it for the therapeutic massage and the way my skin looks after I've applied it. I also love Tatcha's oil and Sisley's Black Rose oil. I do not like the La Mer oil, I don't know why, it just doesn't seem to do anything for me. I am not worried about causing problems for my skin, I'm 59 and have been using fragrance in cosmetic and skin care for 40 years. If I develop a sensitivity I'll deal with it. If someone has sensitive skin or doesn't want to use fragrance, then they shouldn't. Some products work for you and some do not. I have been taking vitamin D supplements and my levels are very good now. I am very curious about the topical vitamin D products. Thank you for your videos, they are always great!! Take care, Ginny 😘😘😘

They have an Australian website, so I am going to investigate more for when I need new skincare. 🥰 I love the Zelens Power D serum - the almond oil is so nice. It’s an expensive brand. I always thought I had a really really sensitive skin, it reacted to loads of things and all the time and I never felt that anything in skincare was really good for me. Then I found The Ordinary... *Tada* Now I am one of those who can cope with acids in the same way as you, the bloodmask I use for aprox 25 mins more then once a week in periods. I use their glycolic toner morning and night every day, and one of their acids neary every day in my morning routine and so on. All my life i have thought I had really dry skin but found out it was just THIRSTY!!! Besides acids aso I use TO Hyaluronic and TO Squalane + the TO NFM all mornings and evenings, year around. Other oils don´t feel that perfectly smooth and wonderful on my skin as the Squalane. My skin loves a drop of it. I usually recommend the TO Squalane to friends that and curios tho a bit "scared" of oils.

@wonderingsanna
@wonderingsanna 4 жыл бұрын
@@leneskov5184 Na, it´s not related in that way. Squalene you can find in your bodys own skinlipids (it decreases with age) and Squalane is very similar to it. You can get squalane from different sources both from animals (like shark fins) and from sugarcanes, weatsprouted and olives. Nowadays most squalane is from vegan sources. TO:s is allways vegan sourced.

Look up prickly pear seed oil! It's great! Up to 80% omega 6 and 9 and loaded vitamins e, c, b and even k! So it's even good for some pigmentation issues! It's quite expensive carrier oil but very very nice. It's a dryer oil too! I also love kiwi seed oil for its high dose of omega 3 and vitamin c! Both are GREAT for anti inflammation post procedure for microneedling and peels and or as a final step in nightly skincare! I used to hate carrier oils too until I learned more about them, and now I actually love them as a final step in my skincare!

I use it (the 2%) and I only need a few drops as it is oily and spreads well. No irritation and no breaking out. Hope that helps. Squalene is very low to no comedogenic rating as it is similar in weight to skin's sebum. And olive squalane is plant based...obvs. :)

@@PetersayPeterdo I only use it at night as I find squalane a bit too oily for daytime (if with moisturise and foundation, etc.). It's moisturising enough to not require another moisturiser, but for daytime you might want to use a sunscreen as retinoids cause skin to be more sensitive to sun.

I hate any kind of thick, buttery creams. I can feel a spot coming up just thinking about them 😂 really hate the feel of them too. A few years ago I tried the ordinary Rosehip oil and to my surprise I actually found it didn’t cause breakouts and it really comforted my skin. The oil is a very potent antioxidant." My skin's elasticity has improved and it glows. It isn't a greasy oil, but quickly absorbs into my skin. I will never be without it.

I'm personally not a fan of oils and agree with you completely. I know this is a very divided subject. I just don't fully understand how a retinol in an oil can even work, as an oil is an occlusive, therefore surely nothing can penetrate through, meaning the retinol?

I have ance prone skin and I recently bought a face serum from upcircle but I am afraid to use it even though they told me it won't clog up my pores.

Look for oils with a low comdeogenic rating that will balance your skin's oil over-production. Oils like hemp, Jojoba (which is technically a plant wax), squalane and tamanu (mixed with one of the others as it's quite potent and stinky!), might help calm your skin and heal scars. I personally use a self-made blend of Jojoba, Hemp, Tamanu (just a few drops as it it reputed to be v.good for acne). I have reactive, sensitive, blemish prone skin which leaves dark scars. I can't even use normal shop-bought , branded moisturiser anymore as my blend works so perfectly for my skin's needs. Only need about 3 drops massaged in morning and night after cleansing. BTW, I am a qualified Aromatherapist, hence studied in Base/Carrier and Essential oils.

Oils usually clogg my pores. But I need something more than moisturizer to sooth and hydrate itchy patch on my face and eyelids. Is squalane an oil? Deciem consultant says it's a hydrocarbon. What does that mean for skin?

Try an oil that has a low comdedogenic rating, e.g. Jojoba (which is technically a plant wax) or hemp. You only need to use sparingly. Oils like coconut, almond, starflower/borage or castor will probably be too heavy and could cause breakouts. Squalane is an oil (which is a hydrocarbon as all are). Squalene is naturally produced in the skin but squalane is a hydrogenated form of squalene (usually from olives or animal derived). Squalane tends to blend well with skin sebum (skins natural oils) and is usually low to non-irritating. It is soothing, helping with the skin barrier function and helps the skin retain its moisture. I am an qualified aromatherapist, btw. Hope this info. helps.

@@tg7648Since my original comment, I have tried TO squalane. So far so good. It has calm down my dry itchy patches. I find your reply to others very helpful too. Thank you.

I really like this oil, Claire! It does have fragrance in it so if that's not your bag, steer clear. But, I really like the smell and I found it was a great moisturizing step for my skin.

Try kiwi oil. My skin is dry, and this oil has been a game changer. It absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a greasy feeling. It also has no fragrance.

That’s not true about essential oils not being physical helpful to your skin. Frankincense is very helpful for wrinkles and skin smoothness. And myrrh, frankincense, Hawaiian sandalwood, lavender make immortal. Very good for skins elasticity. There are others. I have used different ones and never had a bad reaction.

Botanical oils (Jojoba, grapeseed, Rosehip etc) and essential oils (lavender, tea tree) are not the same thing. Botanical oils have proven benefits to the skin and are used in conventional skincare all the time .
