I am from Gloucester and have been to the cheeserolling many times. One year in the 90s i was a contestant. I went ton the top the day before. It iz crazy how steep it looks from the top. I bottled it.

Even here in Sweden, one of the world's most democratic countries, you can technically go to prison for refusing service. That's a last resort of course, but still, we have that option because it's necessary

(Never use a patronage hack for your doctor, as Garfield found out before him.) My guess is joking about any murder isn't considered hilarious by those who went through it. Do Brits think joking about John Lennon's shooting is hilarious? They didn't even joke about Charles I's beheading when Charles III was crowned, and nobody is left who watched the beheading.

Same here in Central Europe, our problem is emotions and division. I watched Lithuanian presidential election debates and I nearly cried, I was so moved. They weren´t always level-headed and to the point, but compared to Czech and Slovak election debates (and the nightmare that is Hungarian politics), it was like a sea of tranquility. Some debates felt more like brainstorming, not opponents arguing. The good old 1990s when politics was boring.

@@martavdz4972 Yeah, US is far from the only country with problems, and there are definitely places in Europe that are in a worse situation. But we're catching up fast. The COVID inquiry in the UK that has had such a negative impact on the power of the conservative party would have had the opposite effect in the US. Just consider that Trump is more popular now than he was BEFORE the January 6th insurrection and before he was indicted for multiple crimes. There is no scandal big enough to bring him down because nothing matters anymore.

Two thoughts -- couldn't they supply Chris McCausland with an ear piece describing the pictures? Or just provide Braille cards with descriptions of the pictures -- those can easily be prepared in advance. Second, I feel like they made earthmoving seem like a fulfulling career option, which I don't know was the aim.
