It's competitive in a different way and one person doing well doesn't mean others fail (in most cases, ig sometimes there can be cutoffs but you didn't specify that and even then it's very different to direct win/lose competitions). If you had said you've lost important sports matches/other competitions and didn't cry then yeah good for you but your example is just bad.
