Couldn't this be said about many things though? For example, I've spent weeks preparing for exams that I failed, not once have I cried because of it, but i sure as hell placed an enormous amount of importance on the exams. Some people just aren't wired that way

@Shiki0414
@Shiki0414 Ай бұрын
@@zach9747very bad example/analogy. Taking exams is not a passion, nor is it a competitive match. It's competitive in a different way and one person doing well doesn't mean others fail (in most cases, ig sometimes there can be cutoffs but you didn't specify that and even then it's very different to direct win/lose competitions). If you had said you've lost important sports matches/other competitions and didn't cry then yeah good for you but your example is just bad.

I do that same thing magnus does with his head when he shakes it, what’s happening is he’s recalling something (for him probably a chess move) where he made such a bad mistake, according to him, his head starts involuntary shaking just at the mere memory of it. As if his whole body is rejecting what he did. Anyone who thinks about what they do that hard is bound to gain some profound insights.

Magnus stated that the last time he remembers crying after a chess game was the 2013 Candidates. Hikaru stated that he lied about never crying after a chess game and expected to be called out on it immediately, but the lie detector bought it. He also stated that when it comes to chess, top players are able to remember exact positions from decades ago, so not being able to remember crying because it was "maybe so far back" was nonsense.
