Kari the Mortician explains what a Blickens Device is and why you won't see it in many embalming rooms anymore. Some embalmers do swear by the design and continue to use them daily though. The fact that it raises the deceased off their back to allow drying gives an added feature to it.

Blickens Device was a fantastic tool for body positioning. I learned how to embalm using it. Yes, it had a lot of parts, and not to difficult to maintain if you cleaned it after each preparation. I’d live to have one now if I could find a good usable one.

And it was perfect punishment instead of standing in the corner when you were naughty ! Ah , what fond memories !

I have a suggestion for a future video. Victorian era death photos. Photographers would pose the dead with family in life like positions before burial. I recently was reading about this and immediately thought you would be the perfect person to do a video about it!!!

Superior sold a full body device called the hydra sani rest.It cupped under the shoulders and buttock hip area.It made massage and dressing much easier and cleaning was less work

Yeah Kari that apparatus look like it is too much drama with all of the attachments to it and it would be time consuming to clean it to I'd say. Very interested video buddy 👍👌✌️

I heard of these, but I have never seen one. The funeral home I worked for had a head block but besides that, they just used styrofoam blocks and pillows never anything fancy for positioning the body.
