As a rusty NM who has been playing the GPA since the 80s when the Brits were first popularizing the opening I applaud your coverage of preserving the "Sozin" bishop via a3. I've reached these positions many times, but by stubbornly playing Bc4 first which as you correctly point is theoretically dubious against the correct black plan of an immediate e6-Nge7-d5. I often succeed when an imprecise black move order gives me a tempo to play a3, but most serious players nowadays know the correct black move order. Regarding the Magnus game at the 9:25 mark upon first seeing this I immediately felt something had gone wrong for white as the queen should be on h4. Then I remembered having reached this position and lost in several games. Black's gxf5 is a mistake, the correct move is dxe4 after which black just keeps an advantage. As an aside I've experimented with gambiting the c2 pawn which makes for interesting chess. Once I even sacked the a1 rook in KI style and won (objectively unsound but a lot of fun in blitz)! 😵💫

Nice commentary! Thanks 🙏

I was unfamiliar with this idea so I expected a4 idea, but this a3 line looks very promising, especially with your thorough analysis and example games. I'll definitely keep this in store for my opponents. I'm sure they'll think a3 is a waste of time, lol. Thank you Big Mio!

Very interesting video. It gives a lot of attacking potential. Btw, you have any views on the a4 move compared to a3?
@MiodragPerunovicOfficialАй бұрын
Also, very good one, but less flexible. In my opinion, you pretty much determined yourself with a4, while a3 gives you b4 and gives you Bc4-Ba2!

I've been playing a4 lately. Didn't know that I could play a3, too. I will add this into my repertoire for sure.(If I collect my money enough, I'll buy your pgn for sure. In the last time I bought your Tal line against caro-kann,It made me win against Caro-kann almost every game, and the losing games were just my own fault.)

I like the ideas demonstrated in this approach to the Grand Prix. The only problem I have is that you make the final 3 or 4 moves in each game so fast I can’t follow them
@MiodragPerunovicOfficialАй бұрын
Its not a problem, its easy to solve, you have repeat option on KZbin 😉😂
@garynewton3337Ай бұрын
@ yeah. I can repeat the same fast moves over and over again . But they still occur very fast and it takes many repeats to see the moves. It is a problem and one that is easily resolved by showing the moves slower on your part

@ I guess I can’t help 🤷♂️ Free, top notch lines with free videos, but you go step forward and look for more! 👏

So now we have a much better version of the Bc4 line of the GPA, using a little, teeny pawn move (a3)😃👌It's amazing how this pawn move can give white great winning chances than in the usual Bc4 variation 🤔😃. Great video of this amazing line of the Bc4 variation 👍
