I feel so bad about Syd Barrett. I loved all the music he made (even the two albums after pink Floyd), but at the same time I understand why he ended up stoping his music. His health was the most important thing at the time, and I'm glad he lived a more peaceful life after his music career. He ended up doing another passion of his, painting. Look up some of his paintings, they are quite lovely.

Yes they were great together and it's a shame that they're not friends anymore especially David and Rodger and I think the last nail in the coffin will be Roger re-recording Dark Side of the Moon and removing everybody else's contributions and just making the album his alone. I wouldn't think that it would sell that well and I kind of hope it doesn't because I'm angry with him for being so mad at David and the others and he's even still mad at Sid and that makes no sense at all to me. and it's also cool to listen to and let it bring back the memories sometimes of when you first heard it. There's way much more good than there is bad and I apologize for being negative. Peace to you wonderful lady.

Syds solo work Dave producesd when no one else wanted to.Rick was a great singer too and a very similar person in giving of himself. Roger hated he wasn't the only genius in the band much less the lowest one.Self absorbed prick Rodger is even re-recording the whole Dark Side of the Moon album and taking everybody else's voice and instrument out and using only his and it makes no sense.David is such a good man;he even helped when nobody else wanted to produce Syds solo albums or at least one I know for sure and he's done that with other artists to I think Clare Torry was one but he just is such an amazing person and the makes himself fit the shoe rather than the shoe fitting him which is an amazing quality in a human being.

I hate to say it but losing Syd was the best thing that ever happened to Floyd. Even if he had been sane, they wouldn't have been able to create the masterpieces they did. Without him, all the other four were forced to rise above their own abilities and grow into something greater, and they did. If Syd had stayed there would been an album or two more of scarecrows, gnomes and bikes and then it would have been over anyway. He had already played his part in the story, and it was an important one that continued to inspire them throughout their career. And it still inspires their solo work. He is almost like a martyr figure that had to be sacrificed for the sake of the band and the fans. It's sad, but also beautiful. And even the hardcore Syd fans have to admit it, because if he hadn't drifted off there wouldn't have been as much mysticism and they probably wouldn't idolize him as much either. I am just grateful for all five of them. Going to see David in concert this year and I know it will be the experience of a lifetime. Even if it's just him, I know I will also experience Syd, Rick, Nick and Roger through the music. It's a wonderful thing.

This is correct but for various reasons taboo to say among fans of the band and especially critics. Everyone wants to seem edgy and Syd embodies edgy. But he was a mediocre talent and wrote childish quirky but friendly tunes. Rick Wright on the other hand is a massively important musician of the rock era, but we only get endless Syd retrospectives and a little asterisk of oh yeah the piano player, he wrote that Clare Torre song. it's ignorant. Pink Floyd reached their heights as a keyboard centric band. Perhaps it would be worth a mention to talk about the keyboard player.

This opinion is not going to be popular among a lot of Pink Floyd fans... But I personally David gilmour didn't know Syd Barrett like the rest of the band... Dave gilmour kind of just showed up to take his place, Syd Barrett was and is a musical genius that wrote some of the most classic 1960s Pink Floyd that you will ever hear from 1960s music. That you will ever hear... Songs like see Emily play, apples and oranges, songs like pink box, songs like Arnold Lane, and my favorite candy and a currant bun. Without Syd Barrett none of those songs would have ever been made and without those songs Pink Floyd would never have reached the point where they could have released an album like dark side of the Moon I wish you were here or animals or the wall! I think I lost my train of thought, you get me talking about Pink Floyd especially Old Pink Floyd from the CID Barrett days and I just get lost forever! Old Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett was the best Pink Floyd

I have the deepest admiration for David Gilmour snd I think he did a great job remixing Matilda Mother which was included on the "An Introduction To Syd Barrett" compilation. On the other hand, Gilmour did a terrible job remixing 'Scream Thy Last Scream (Old Woman With A Casket)" and "Vegetable Man"! Those two tracks should have never been remixed! Also, David Gilmour abd Roger Waters "produced" the worst tracks on "The Madcap Laughs" ~ Dark Globe Long Gone She Took A Long Cold Look Feel If It's in You These five tracks are unlistenable! How could David and Roger ever release such badly played and sung material! That was really uncool to do that to Barrett! They should have included ~ Lanky Part 1 & Swan Lee (Silas Lang) instead from the May, 1968 sessions Produced by Peter Jenner. Malcolm Jones Produced the best material for "The Madcap Laughs".
