I’ve seen many videos of Dobermans doing this but I never heard any of mine whine. If they wanted my attention they would give me a single bark and if I ignored them they would follow it up by lifting my arm up with their head! Your Dobie is gorgeous and looks very healthy!

My Doberman Apollo whines like this too! I call him a squeaky door because we have this one door in my house that sounds exactly like his whine whenever we open it! It's so good to know he isn't the only one who does this!

Awww. Did you name him after Magnum PI? The video I shot was many years ago now. Sugar Tree is ten years presently and still whines like this. I really believe it's a positive trait bred into them. They were used in the Vietnam war to detect anything unusual. That makes them very very sensitive to change. The whining is an indication that something lays ahead... that is how they saved so many lives from booby traps in the jungle.

My mom kept candies in her bedside table. After she was in bed our dobie would put his head on the bed, look at her & then whine. If she didn't respond he would slowly work up to a wee bark. It never ceased to make us laugh.

My doberman is a blue female. Her name is jewels. She is still a puppy too. Very rowdy. She has the most cutest smile that she just leaned about a month ago. She is 6 1/2 months. Dobermans are such loving companions! She does the same thing your does.

I watch this video while snuggling my red rescue dobe. Best breed EVER! They are sassy, brassy and when needed...will kick some assey! Mostly they are VELCRO dogs, obedient, super easy to train...a d RIDICULOUSLY silly!!! Plus, they Love snuggling, especially under the covers. Ahhh...we LOVE our "bully breed ". BAHAHAHAAA

Yes, I have heard a Doberman cry under the worst conditions. I watched him run to the front door, sit staring at it, crying for the loved one that no longer cared for him. I cried when he came over to me and laid his head in my lap and wined or cried liked this puppy. At night, he would jump in my bed and lay his head on my chest, cry a little hoping that she would come home. Crazy Dobermen, took him just over 6 months to get over it.
