I graduated from high school in 1992, and I was completely drawn in with Arsenio. Milli Vanilli, also, but that's a different story. A black man showcasing what he did & when he did was monumental. Eddie Murphy & Delirious I say as a teenager, so I think that was who lead me into following Arsenio. Arsenio was very much a voice of reason in my youth.

I don't really believe Arsenio Hall's show got the low ratings that they claim. I think it's because he was getting more viewers than Johnny Carson and The Tonight Show. The white power brokers in Hollywood weren't having none of that. The "Dog Pound" was doing it. They were hyped every night. Arsenio also had a great band.

Although I was never a major great fan of Arsenio Hall, I give him a high 5 for having individuals on his show that many others avoided. My biggest hate, not of him, was how the media and society protested when Arsenio had Andrew Dice Clay on the show. His musical director took the night off because of it but decided to stress his point the very next night. What a wimp! Louis Ferrakhan was on one night and took over the entire night. I've always loved listening to his speeches and Arsenio welcomed and addressed his issues very well. HIGH 5 to you, bro. You was the greatest late night talk show host, as far as I'm concerned.
@josebrown59613 ай бұрын
Yea I was glad he put Dice on. I was into comedy and hated that Dice got the hate he did. I was not happy about the Minister. But I did watch and listen to what he had to say. None of the other shows would even consider him. His appearance didn’t make me a fan of him but he came on and I give the man props for doing it.

Arsenio did not graduate high school in 1973. He was in the 1975 graduation class of Warrensville Hts. I know this because he graduated with me. I am still tryna find this one episode where he played a character in his monolog that had me ROTFL! I don't exactly remember the bit, but I know it was pure gold! I recently watched his stand-up special on Netflix, and I got emotional at how much I missed him! Arsenio has always brought an energy like no other! As an actor in Coming to America, Arsenio made it look effortless! His late night show was a phenomenon because I feel like he was asking questions HE wanted to ask, not what was fed to him, or what you could hear on EVERY OTHER show! When I was a kid, my mom let me stay up late and watch his opening monolog which is still one of our favorite memories! And don't EVEN get me started on The HIP HOP ALLSTARS!!!
