Hi Tom, we got 8" snow here in Clinton, TN, unusual for us. If I didn't have my birds I wouldn't make it thru the day. I put my feeder right at my Den window to view all thru the day. They keep me sane in the cold winter months. Long time subscriber and we wait for your next videos. You inspired me to start posting my old family video's back to the 80's. Remember how you said your posting for your children and grandchildren and decided to do the same. Really am enjoying doing it. At 67 as I am also you know the 5lb video cameras we used to lug around. I only hope I can put out quality video's like you and learn to edit. Anyway stay healthy and warm.

Hi, Tom! Yes, sir, I'll be "bagging up" my two outdoor faucets when it stops raining this afternoon, even though it's not forecasted to get quite as cold as where you are. Better safe than forking out money for repairs. As for the birds, I only put out hummingbird feeders in the Spring. As you know, I have a flock of chickens, and their feeders are outside. The wild birds eat there, too, while the chickens are free-ranging the back yard. I also periodically buy 50 lb bags of 6 Way Scratch for the chickens' afternoon "treat." That gets scattered on the ground for them and, of course, the wild birds feast on it, too. Every now and then, I'll either use bacon drippings or save the fat off a pork roast and mix that 6 Way Scratch mix with it - Makes a great "suet" treat - All of the birds love that and the added fat is really good for them. I live up in Massachusetts. We usually have a water shut off in the basement and we shut off the water to the outside and then bleed to line of any water. We've had a couple of really bad winter storms recently along the Maine and New Hampshire coasts. Destroyed some homes with flooding. You and the Kitty Crew stay warm Tom.

It is frigid here in Pittsburgh PA. We put out extra seed and suet and we have solar heated bird bath. We have a couple feral cats in the neighborhood that help keep rat/ mouse population down so I put out food water and boxes with old blankets on my patio against the house to protect them.

Colorado is just finishing up with the extreme cold. Tonight is supposed to be -15. Ten minutes and exposed skin, frostbite is possible. I've been feeding feral cats, squirrels and birds. I bought a heated water bowl last year. So they have fresh water day and night. I wish I could do more. It's sad seeing them cold and miserable. Stay warm!

Here in Kentucky our temps haven't got out of the teens for a week. We're not going to see it above freezing for another week. I made sure my feathered friends feeder was full last week and I have to change their water twice a day. It freezes quickly when it's this cold. I have about 6 pairs of cardinals, some blue jays, woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, sparrows, juncos and finches that visit me. Not to mention over a dozen brown and black squirrels. It gets expensive now, but I put out all the feed I can afford. I just remember that God gave mankind a commission to care for the animals. As a whole, mankind has failed miserably to provide for the animals. I want my small acts to be counted to the good. Stay cozy, Mr Tom!

I just heat with wood/comedy propane wall heaters. The off peak heaters get over run at these temps. ha Give old man winter a punch back. Sure it's only 45F in my living room. But my theory is give him 'what for' back with heating!!! My Country kitchen is like a 25' trailer where all the H20 pipes are. I'm either 'A' heating too large a space. Or 'B', trying to heat with a door open due to poor leaking insulation. It always happens this time of year! Anyway, welcome to the Party MR. TOM!!!!!!

I covered my new 3 ft fig tree with a thick plastic barrel I found washed down the creek but before that I covered it in pine straw, leaves, and grass clippings, tucked the limbs sticking out under the barrel, then put plastic around the barrel then wrapped it in a thermal blanket. I have cuttings growing leaves inside too to make more trees in spring. A Brown Turkey Fig tree. Gotta plant plenty because the birds love figs too.

Hi Mr Tom, here in NZ we leave a tap far from living and bedrooms run a gentle trickle overnight, keeps the water moving so it doesn't freeze in the pipes. Not sure if this I feasible if you're charged for water though, but cheaper than a plumbing bill ! All our pipes have foam insulation, empty hoses and put away under cover . You are wise man, godbless Mr Tom, pats to the kitties , even Cleo ..has she signed that contract yet? Lol You know although Spooky loves you and hangs around , he is gaining intelligence for the International Kitty Hotline, then he can telegraph with his kitty paws in dots and dashes to people all over the world how Pappa is and what happening in the neighborhood! My chucks, their coop is built like a one room apartment. Their not my friends, I'm just giving them a good life, until Easter. Maybe they will lay eggs again. I've found Chickens are tough they quilt up with their feathers. My only concern is I'm out of Hen Scratch presently (carbohydrates- shivering thermogenesis) and only on layer mix. Like I said, part of me wants to get out of hobby, but fresh food and water- Jessie who I bought the chicks off of.

I started letting all my faucets drip too. Never had to worry with a basement but with a crawl pipes have froze and used a blow-dryer to get them flowing when I forgot to let faucets drip. We didn’t get more than 2” of snow where I live in Oklahoma but our night time lows have been extreme we hit -3 last night. Heat wav😂 today we hit 20 degrees for a high. My feral cat crew made it through last night I have heated kitty tents and boxes with straw and a heated pad in a box. I fed them multi times. Sadly I cannot afford to feed my bird friends like a normally do in the winter. I just cannot cut anything else and it tears me up too.

Yep, I sure would. 'But', 'you-know-who', that lives here too, (the one that threw away all a momma's bird feeders), he don't want me feedin birds. ❓Yes, my birds are eating about 2 or 3 times as much during the last few days. I'm in the northern part Michigan's lower peninsula and we're getting heavy snow and single digit temps lately. But there is something very strange happening I've never seen before here at this time of year. My springtime birds are showing up at the feeders. I'm seeing numbers of goldfinches, house finches, cedar wax wings, red polls and even an occasional starling. I don't normally see these birds until March. I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing early arrivals.???❓?

Hi Mr. Tom! For an electric dryer vent inside the house. Just get a vent dryer trap. Heats up a large area and adds moisture to the house. ELECTRIC ONLY. Huge difference in warmth and youre using it anyway.

Having trouble finding facet covers, Amazon doubled the price in the last week! Did order some, paid double for not being prepared. We WD 4d them and made our own from wadding several old socks around the facets and covered them with plastic til Amazon delivers. Feed the birds :)

NW Oklahoma, -1.6 says the remote sensor on the front porch early this morning. 20F would be normal low for us this time of year. We are paying for that cold weather a couple of years ago with added surcharges on electric and natural gas bills and will be for the next 20 years because of the high spot prices the systems had to pay to keep the power on back then. Dog, cats, mice, squirrels, birds balance of nature here. I've got a pet door, Tuffy the house cat keeps the mice under control, Maggie the dog chases the extra cats out and other critters that try to use the pet door.

For years Mr tom, I have filled my neighbors bird feeders( she is in her eighties) and cannot do it anymore, so I do it.The feeders usually had to be filled once a week, unless deer made a visit(which was usually when I put in fresh seed)😂 they would about clear it out, but I have not seen a one come back thru this year, the squirrels used to argue and fight over who had seniority😅 but they haven't bothered, I can fill the feeders and know a month before they need refilling, her feeders used to be so alive with all different birds, plus the squirrels, bunnies and chipmunks would be at the feeders also, I do not know if they dropped those rabies packets and killed the wildlife or if there is something wrong with the feed, but something stinks in denmark.

My Tweety Birds came back when the cold arrived. They left when it started getting cooler in fall. Not sure where they went? But they`re back now. I gotta find cheap seeds. I bought a 30 pound bag of black oil sunflower seeds and a 20 pound bag of mixed seeds, and blended those. I managed to save most of my garden mustard greens by covering them with a greenhouse cover I`ve never used. I plan to use it next winter to extend tomato season thru winter with lights and heaters at night in the greenhouse. I may just build my own small one. My cherry tomatoes were tough and survived some frosts so next spring I`ll be growing them all year. Maybe inside too. I`m starting cucumbers in my camper in a few days. I have everything I need including self-pollinating Beit Alpha seeds. And you can root cucumber cuttings and get a big jump on saving growing time too.

Good morning Mr Tom it's 18 degrees and snowing here in pennsylvania I feed the squirrels and birds from Labor day till Easter everyday lots of bluejays and cardinals do you have them down there or are they northern species Mr Tom stay warm with the kitty 🐈 crew and God bless
